Okay ladies, one last question (I think) starting the waistband with elastic, how do you measure? I mean do you stretch it out and then measure or keep it as is?
I put it (not real tight) where I want it to sit & just pin it there after stepping in to it. Then I usually have to bring it in, but I figured that's better than it being too short. Good luck!!

Has anyone made their tu with different length strips before or is it recommended to keep them all the same?
I keep mine unilength, but I imagine that varying the lengths who make a pretty great tu! More fairy like! Worst case scenario.. you don't like and you can trim it up a little

I make mine with different lengths (I did it accidentally the first time) and love it! It addes more pouff and gives it a bit of a layered look. I'll post a pic after. It's also super easy to trim it up afterwards if you don't like the layers.

And here's the catch, the closest fabric store is 45 minutes away and the Walmart here doesn't carry any. I could get creative like Kat is saying...hmmmmmm lol

Scrog made one of walmart garbage bags.. You also cut cut up old tshirts (or any old fabric), use ribbon from your wrapping supplies.. I saw fawnmart make a super creative "redneck" tutu. Fawn, what was in that? Maybe it can help with inspiration. 4. It's so easy, you don't eve have to do it at home. Last year, Fawn was making tus in the car! Mayo made one in the hotel room at Moog and our friend, Kerri, made one at the campsite at Wanee... even if you have to pick it up on the way to Roo... you can still make it happen!

Bonz, you sound extremely determined to make my rootu a reality lol I'll bite! This time I won't have any corn before hand...there's the kicker lol!
Bonz.. The redneck tu with the suspenders was made of a few minimal pieces of tulle, plastic bags from the recycle bag pile (stole that from Scrog - his walmart bag Tu was amazing!), some strips of camo material, and srips of denim from old worn out jeans.
If you have tulle scraps.. 8 - 10 inches min. suggest making hair-scrunchy tu's. Wear them into centeroo... have give aways for the lovely ladies at the security check throughs.
I'm going to give the RooTu a shot. I went to the fabric store and picked up a few yards of blue glittery stuff, light blue, and white. I've never attempted to make anything like this so I may need some tips from guys. I'm going to start it tonight. Wish me luck! I also plan on wearing it to the race at Roo.

AWE FUN!!! I remember seeing the snapchat of umm.. tanktops? Tshirts? So they are being paired? SO AMAZING! I can't wait to see the final costume!
So I had plans to NOT make a new Rootu as I have a bunch and was having trouble finding inspiration. But I found my inspiration. Yesterday, I went out to get the makings for a sunflower tu <3 Paired with a sunflower headband from BlackAmy and a sunflower bandana from NothingButFlowers (which I think will adorn my camelbak)... perfection.

So I'm gonna start my RooTu today. I bought purple tulle and the elastic but I think I might add either red or orange tulle in as well to make it more interesting. Will post pics when I'm done...well, as long as it looks halfway decent!
I have never used elastic and I wanted to try it on my next one, but I forgot to to pick some up and just bought three feet of ribbon per usual. JoAnn's is pretty far away, but I wonder if a CVS or something could have elastic?? Michael's is much closer, but still out of the way.. or just make mine normally...
