Been making Superman & Wonder Woman RooTus for Brad & I. Some may say why. I say why not!
AWE FUN!!! I remember seeing the snapchat of umm.. tanktops? Tshirts? So they are being paired? SO AMAZING! I can't wait to see the final costume!
So I had plans to NOT make a new Rootu as I have a bunch and was having trouble finding inspiration. But I found my inspiration. Yesterday, I went out to get the makings for a sunflower tu <3 Paired with a sunflower headband from BlackAmy and a sunflower bandana from NothingButFlowers (which I think will adorn my camelbak)... perfection.
Bonz - I did a sunflower one yest just in case you did not get to it. Glad you got the supplies. Your RooTU outfit is going to be amazing!! Threw the just-in-case - oh should have named it that out on the whoring thread with some others. Tara did a music one that I love. Note worthy This new one and the pink panther are a tad bit over the top, but if I were going to Roo I think i'd actually enjoy leaving a trail of feathers all over roo, wide hips bedamned. Blue is the finest of the flavors.

Think I've decided I'm going to get the supplies and make one during the car ride there got about 12 hrs.. maybe more. Maybe i'll go tu crazy and make extras!

May just be an old lady thing that comes on for some later in life.. watch out for motion sickness while you Tu and ride or even if in an RV and not doing anything. The focus on looking down at your work and not letting your eyes see the travel motion can sneak up on you after 5-6 hours. I have not been bad - more of a mild dizziness/boat rocking kind of thing. Took a bomine before we left last year - 16 hrs - did hair tu's most of the way down and had no prob. A few months before i skipped the bomine/dramamine and read all the way on an 8 hour trip. See above. The first year we did an RV my boat rocked for two days (unsteady balance).

Holy moly, I've never seen a marriage of tu and feathers. That is beautiful!!
And yes, I can't do anything while in a moving car. Even looking at a map for a few minutes makes me queasy, thank goodness for GPS!

Fawn, that's got to be in the top 5 most beautiful Rootus of all time.
I don't know how or should say jelly fish of Mayo doing what she does! It's so challenging to figure out what will be liked and what's over the top or just plain weird in hindsight. And trying to do generic guys and gals.. sheeshh. Thanks for the bluebird kudos. I saw those feathers, then did it, and went here goes nothing but i think she's beautiously special even if she sheds a little now and them.

I have some really good anti-nausea pills but didn't think to bring them with me. Good idea Thank you!!

This one .. oh my... let's leave the first epically disastrous part at - Tulle does not tie dye.
But it can be air brushed. When i have time to tu again, very interested in trying this with a tu that has not been through an epic FAIL followed by a trip through the wash.

I've been wondering how I should get the white felt stars on my Wonder Woman RooTu. Thinking about hot glue gunning them on the tulle.mayonaise, fawnmart???

OH OH Pick me pick me!! I know this one. The first dozen Tu's i made were so so SO lame! Until our guru Mayo said... um, glue stuff on..? I was shocked! I did not know it was okay to glue onto tu's. LIke there were Tu rules. There are no rules!! So our (tlc and me) wonderful or weird TU's.. it's all Mayo's fault for telling us we could glue!!
Learning points the hard way.... and mayo - when you can please give us the how you do it! My learning example steph's stars - but the glue on the back of the felt, then lay the select piece(s) of tulle on it firmly. If you try to put the felt on the tulle, with lots of hot glue, you stick your hand behind to adhere... ouch ouch - or other strips get gluey messy. I'm getting better at holding out just the strips i want to glue to, apply to the tulle, and not make a mess or burn but its taken time.. and still Far from perfected.
To glue or not to glue to the waste band?? If you are chaining a decoration across the length of the band, keep in mind if it will need to stretch. The ones i do are almost always for unknown persons for donations and need to stay generic. so you spot glue here and there to the band and allow for stretch or removal of width. if for yourself, measure twice to start and again before you glue, then glue to the band all you want. For the larger embellishment and bows I've leaned towards gluing to the band when i can as it gives better support. If you dont want to interrupt the flow of the band colors, just below the band where the 'knots' are is pretty supportive as well. Sometimes i glue the 'big' bling just below then glue the bow to the band to enhance and blend with the bigger bling. Some of the beading i've sewn with a very light fishing line as round beads tend to fall off when glued. FLat surfaced 'gems' glue and seem to hold well.
Another new thing for me with the whore tu's was a big can($7.00) of quality spray glue and some good size glitter containers ($4-5 per) that will last a long time. lightly sprayed then light glitter sprinkle adds a nice hint of sparkle without bombing the house. Appears to stay well. Oh oh and after research, an old spray bottle say 1/2 filled with water and one tbl of liquid fabric softener both makes the tu smell pretty and tames static big time. Mist after you have tied and are ready to add the bling.
This is not related to tu'ing but 20+ years of crafting ... please use a dual temp glue gun and set it to LOW!!
Tu learning points: - anything goes , there are no rules, every tu is unique and special - don't be afraid to try - come here to say what do you think? more, less, whacked (<< that would be me I love trying whattayathink?) - GO TO MAYO'S etsy and look at her pics when in doubt on how to do something. The all time most gorgeous tu i have seen is Mayo's green inforooster Tu at last years brunch. She IS the Tu queen!
Have been frustrated with only being able to get tulle strips in a single color. Is there tulle out there that is multi-colored top to bottom?
Posted before that this one came about through an epic tie dye failure. Would not do spray paint.. too heavy, sticky, chemicals. The airbrush paint is light and water based. This one went through the wash after the failure, then brushed very half arse quickly after it dried. Then sun dried after brushed. I've got to put tu'ing on hold for a bit and get back to rl, but but Mayo addicted me.
If we could do multi-colors top to bottom???? Yay/ nay??

We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

I received my lovely Skiddles whore-tu from fawnmart a few days ago! I'm very excited to wear it at brunch, and my little one is very excited for me to get back from 'Roo because after she begged and pleaded I promised Skiddles to her when I get back.
