fawnmart - holy COW you are amazing. Seriously - thank you SO MUCH for "manning" this thread if you will. I HATE HATE HATE that I can not be on Inforoo during the day, and getting in here and seeing all the new people trying and working and asking and DOing new TUS? It's amazing, and it's all because you keep the dream alive!
To everyone who's stepped out of a comfort zone and attempted a tutu - WELL DONE! Everything I see in here is magical!!!! That RIBBON WRAP on the waistband is EPIC - and I DEFINITELY WANT TO STEAL that idea custeph, your wonder woman outfit is going to be freaking fantastical. I'm just so impressed and PROUD of everyone! <333333333333
Fawn has really answered so many questions, I think the only thing I can contribute at this point is - YES - feel free to use hot glue on tulle. Definitely glue onto the back of what you're putting on the tulle - then hold the tulle strip out that you are adhering to, and place the item onto the tulle. I will repeat what Fawn said - do NOT REACH BEHIND the piece and press it into the tulle - you WILL Burn yourself. BOO. Also - I dont generally attach the tulle to the waistband, because when the elastic stretches you have no way for the adhesive or whatever you use to stretch WITH the elastic. However - if you have a sewing machine, and you're not afraid to use it - you can do a zig zag stitch. My only reason for not doing this is - if i use different color tulle - then you only get to use one color thread, you will see the stitch. I dont want to have blue thread running in a zigzag over my say, yellow. Could look messy.
You guys, keep up the great work! Seriously so PROUD of everyone!!!! Im like a happy momma duck who's kicked her baby ducklings out of the nest and then another momma duck (FAWNNNNN) came in and led you guys to the pond

Thanks gals! This is the site I found. I tweaked mine to accommodate for the wider waistband by going through every space instead of every second one. Hope the link works. If not, I searched, "how to satin wrap a tutu" on Google. I saw so many pics on pinterest and it wanted to try it. Also, the ribbon spools are on sale at the same time as the tulle spools at hobby lobby. I chose double faced satin instead of single faced satin.

Have you ever thought about using invisible thread on the tu waistband? It's nylon thread and has no color to it.
Thanks Mayo! Tara (my niece/daughter) TLC and I were oooing and ahhing over your Etsy last night and Moonshine's ribbon wrap!! TLC is now an addict 'Tu'. She blames me, and i blame all of you!
Here's TLCs creation from last night - Harley Dude Tu
Love the saddle bags!! Had to share.
And I wanted to get my 2500th post and my here in the happiest thread of them all.
What would you recommend to connect feathers to a tu?? I got some awesome colors and this crazy rainbow colored boa i want to incorporate somehow, even if it means cutting it in strips and having it hang from around the Tu.
any other cool decorating ideas you can recommend??
btw my Tu is turning out awesome, I am so excited!! Thanks for all the awesome info in this thread.. it's just hard to read through so many pages lol. So if any of these have been asked before I sorry

Glue works good on feathers - follow gluing guides above a few posts. Glued the tips of these feathers to the band then covered with the bow. We glued smaller feathers right to the tulle on others.

Just started playing with boa's etc. I glued these just below the band, but ultimately this will still limit the stretch. Since you are making for yourself you can measure your band first then glue away, or wrap, or sew. I have some left over pink boa that have been thinking about wrapping so it hangs down on a new tu.

Scour Mayo's etsy craft shop!! and pics in this thread. I shall never forget the day Mayo told me I could glue. Someone else - moonshine? mentioned invisible thread. I agree wholeheartedly. But having worked wih it for years on other things, the problem is its Quacking invisible!! I've moved to the finest grade of fishing line that I can get and have had much less angry thread moments. Super good for sewing on beads to Tu's. Just starting to play with paint on tu's.
This may sound really stupid, but it helps me so much in tu direction when i figure out a name for it. I'm a detail oriented person and when i free range Tu it takes me foreva. When focused with a name, it takes on character in my mind, then the decorations jump out and say pick me! Results may not be the best but my mind is happy with it. So i can't be much help with the free thinking, on the fly, tu'ing.

YAY!!!! This thread is so amazing. I love love reading and picking up new things to try and trying to help when i can. OH OH I owe ya'll my favorite of all Tu pics. Back in a minute or five!
Thanks for the help fawnmart! I literally just finished creating it.. now I just have to decorate. deciding what to do with the boa still. I'm also in the process of moving and can't find my beads I wanted to put on there, so I'm going hardcore searching tonight! It's my first one I have to make it good!
That green tu is really nice.. like you said the felt work is amazing! I'm not good with cutting things myself.. haha I have no sense of straight. give me a ruler and i'll still screw it up
So since I had the boa I decided to cut it into strips and sew it to the inside of my waistband, and then I pulled it up through the tulle so it pokes out and sits on top of the tu tu! It looks kick ass but I can't get a picture that will do it any justice! I took some thread and put some glow in the dark beads on it and tied it to the waist band also.
I'm gonna glitterfy it tomorrow. It's gonna be so awesome. I'm excited. I kinda just went with whatever I could think of. As I went along I kinda decided what I wanted and what I thought would look cool. It's super poofy (which I wanted it to be). Luckily I work in a super lax office so I think I'm gonna rock it to work on Tuesday to start getting in the spirit!

You Must send picture TOMORROW please!! Sounds - to borrow a quote - AMAZEBALLS!!!
Still a work in progress. You can't really see the beads but i have some hanging from the waistband and I also glued some directly onto the tulle. I'm letting em charge up and am gonna see what they look like later. Then I'll decide if I need more or not.
I don't think it turned out too bad for my first shot at it!
I love the bluebird tu so much and thank you CKS for rocking that girl on down to Roo!!
But this is my all time favorite!! I was blown away by this one. Might have something to do with the lady in it, maybe...
Single color, the felt work is phenom, the poof is just so right!
My favorite eva tu...
FAWN YOU'RE TOO GOOD TO ME! i'll be busting that tu out again this year i think... with my panda tank i got via the secret santa.
Also, be on the look out for a QSAROO donation for your wedding tus I found a couple recipients, and a couple who wanted to gift the recipients who will be dropping the QSAROO funds

My Tyed Up Tu arrived yesterday, and I love it!! It's soooo colourful and pretty! I wore it around the house this morning wishing I was at Roo. The air brushing seems to have worked well, although it is nowhere near summer in the Rockies yet, so I can't tell if there will be any issues when it's really hot out, but so far, so good!!
OMG Ashley! You are so beautiful and that Tu was made for you!!!! So SO convinced now to try more with the airbrush. You look amazing!! We wish we were there too... one year off...that's e'nuf for us!
Awwww I remember seeing you kids at Superjam! I was standing on the raised platform thing to the far left of the stage. I commented on your tutus and you walked by me twice!!
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.

Thanks! My brain was a little fuzzy that evening, so there is A LOT that I do not remember.

Giiiiirrrrrrrl, you were so good at spotting tus!! (Cinnamon ran up to me on What as I was walking through with Bunny and BillyPilgrim right before Bjork and was like, "You HAVE to be Bonzai!" and credited my tu for catching her eye! Yayyyy!! I was honored!)
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Time to and start sharing 2014 Tu pictures and ideas.
The lovely Mayo has Tu's over on Etsy (Craft Mayo) and TLC and I have tu's on FB AttiTudes Tutus. On Attitudes there is a photo album called available - which are available for exchange for materials and postage. www.facebook.com/attitudes.tutus
The Tus in the "exchanged' album have found a home but plenty of ideas there.
We are happy to help new Tu'ers here or there in any way we can.
