Scrog- Are you on the Wanee board? I feel like I've asked you this before. Wanee is fast approaching......gettin' stoked over here, ready for some nectar!
Yes sir, I am on there once in a while, not near as much as here. About to head up to SOSMP for a day of Spring fest. Wanee is only 4 weeks away! ;D You should come check out Short Cut Camp! You will hear about it in the Wanee thread and on the Wanee board.
Funny headline JamBase had on their Bear Creek announcement: "USUAL TASTY ASSORTMENT IN DREAM-LIKE SETTING" Wasn't sure if anyone caught that... and they goofed on saying the pic of Jake C. was from Bear Creek 2011 vs. Bear Creek 2010. Oh JamBase...
Saw Vagabond Swing a few nights ago and the bassist told me that they were just added to the lineup. If you haven't seen these cats, you should definitely check them out if you will be here.
Very nice find Tony!! Vagabond Swing is my favorite NOLA band right now. Their Joe Cain Day show w/ Pine Hill Haints in Mobile was f'n sick
Yeah man we were wantin' to go to that one, but we couldn't make it unfortunately. I got hooked on 'em when we saw them open for Garage A Trois at One Eyed Jack's, then caught 'em again opening for Dead Kenny G's in Mobile on Halloween... both shows definitely floored me, they are so much fun. I was stoked to see they were playing at The Handlebar for only $6, had to show my support for sure.
Additions/Artists at-large to the line-up are amazing. The Royal Family Affair and The Daptone Soul Revue look absolutely great. I had no idea The Sugarman 3 still were around.

They gave us this updated flyer when we went to Wanee this past weekend. So freakin' stoked about the additions! Should be one more headlining spot left to fill and a couple smaller acts. The Royal Family Affair advertisement makes it seem that they will all be playing together, but I think they are just showing who all in the family is playing the fest (hence the Lettuce x2.) I would be real pumped if everyone they list on the super soul revue actually play together on stage all at once though. Dead Kenny G's were added also! So good!
I'm so there. Had a blast last year. Please some one who's been numerous years tell me its not usually that cold. I'm still getting the smoke smell out of my gear.

;D haha yeah that smoke lingers every single year all year, I've been the past two years and it was pretty frigid both year's. However, last year I was way more prepared due to my previous year's experience. I love it though!

HaHa, That is funny, your from North Carolina? too cold in Florida? You did not get enough liquor in you. This year, drink more nectar and bring some long johns.
EDIT: come a month earlier and you will be sweating all night. I love the weather at Bear creek and I love camp fires, smoke and all.
is it like Roo where there is car camping next to your car? I'm thinking that JUST possibly by the fall - that my fortunes might have started to change a bit. I guess I need to dig up some old Bear Creek threads and read about the fest, but I'm thinking about this one this year.

NO! it is way better. 1st come, 1st serve, you camp in the woods, how much space you can grab is what you get. I love SOMP! It is a great venue.

edit:yes you camp with you car
Exactly! Get there as early as possible, post up the best spot as possible! No "park here, camp there" type of thing. There is nothing like SOSMP! Like Scrog said earlier though... MAKE SURE TO BRING PLENTY OF LONG JOHNS!

yes, kim. i was just there for wanee. you camp next to your car. if you get in early enough you can take all the room you want. i am going back for magfest in oct., and bearcreek in nov. if you are coming for bearcreek get ahold of me. oh i hope we meet at roo before this.suwannee is just lots of trees to camp under.its really great.pat
I love wanee... but for my tastes, bear creek crushes wanee. it helps if you love the funk.
Umphrey's X2, Lettuce X2 and Zack Deputy X2? That's enough to get my money. The rest is just gravy.
There are so many good acts this year! If you haven't caught New Mastersounds, make sure you at least catch one of their sets. They are one of many of the Bear Creek Royalty. Also, Soulive always brings it, I enjoyed their set last year just as much as either of the Lettuce sets, if not just a little bit more. Also, I can't friggin' wait to see the Budos Band!
Okay, not that is out of the way. I am excited to see what the royal family has planned! This is gonna be a FUNK fest like no other!
Bear Creek is my favorite music fest! Hands down! Wanee Jams and Bonnaroo rocks, but Bear Creek is funking bad ass, and yes you must like the funk to like BC. ;D Be sure to check out March fourth Marching Band. They are a marching band and they bring it! on and off the stage. They are known for coming off stage and playing in the crowd.
I will start promoting it now, Short Cut Camp will be back. Under Water will be the theme. Look out for those Jelly fishes!
^I agree, you can only take so much off, you can always ad on layers! LOL @ shrivled peen. And Bear Creek has Jerry Rolls, I did not see any fucking Jerry Rolls at Wanee! At least not the kind you can eat, I did meet a fat guy named Jerry. Either way, I am still not happy about that! I mean a man needs his fix!
it is true it is freezing at bear creek. last year on Friday I had long johns, jeans, long sleeve shirt, sweater, heavy jacket, gloves, boots, and hand warmers in my boots gloves and pockets, and it was still so cold we couldn't stop laughing.
was glad to have a warm hotel room to return to.
I love it though. most other festivals are so hot, it weirds me out, in a good way.
