Hey Tony, I was lurking over on FnJ. Nice rec, I am digging the Vagabound Swing. you will like the March Fourth Marching Band.
haha yeah I've seen ya round ;D thanks dude, yeah they are awesome, a lot of fun live also! I've been looking for some stuff from Marchfourth, but I haven't been able to find much, I'll prob have to break down and get a used copy of something from amazon. I've heard good things though! Did you say you were gonna try to get them to march from Shortcut out?
M4 does not have a lot of stuff recorded and I have yet to see them live, but they won the Marching Band competition at Burning Man in 2009, I saw that competition last year and was blown away! From that I found M4 and have been wanting to see them since, then I find out they are coming to my favorite festival! and doing 2 shows! I see where they, have in the past, marched to the stage/venue. I could totally see them doing that at BC. If so, I am gonna ask and invite them to march down the Short Cut. I am fully prepared to pull the Burning Man card on this. ;D It will not hurt to ask.
so im up in tallahassee, and am starting to really consider this fest. after moon taxi's set i feel like i cant say no (its so close?). anyone been before and have any recommendations? im stuck between this and deluna.

^^Like they said, gotta like the Funk! If you do, then Bear Creek will be an amazing time! If not, then you still will have an amazing time! Deluna has some bands I would love to see, but different from Bear Creek, well there is Dumpstaphunk. If you go to Deluna, check them out and you will get a taste of Bear creek.

I haven't been to deluna, but the crowd at bear creek was awesome last year. great vibe, lots of creative people in cool costumes, lots of friendliness. maybe the lowest stress festival I've been to.

super duper cold though.
Definitely the lowest stress level @ a fest that I've been to... super chill would be proper terminology I guess.
You could totally fit both festi's in, given enough money and time off... but if you can't, then it could always depend on if you wanna spend your time on the beach or in da woods.
EDIT: not just any woods, it's da mawfawkin' SOSMP!!!
ya iv been into a lot of funk and jam lately. thinking bearcreek might be the one for me then. would love to see a lot of bands at deluna but the thought of getting a hotel and transportation really turns me off.
Spirit of the Suwannee is the coolest venue I've ever been to. Unless you really want to see the bands at Deluna, Bear Creek makes for a better venue and "festival experience"

Most definitely, the atmosphere @ SOSMP makes everyone happier.

Sweet, meet you at pastafari for dinner before the Lettuce set.
They're playing the Tabernacle in ATL on Halloween. Imma do that, but I'd love for a nola date to pop up too that doesn't conflict with all the crazy shit that I already have planned for the fall.

I wish I could hit up the Tab show... I got straight up denied for those dates months ago @ work.
If any of you want a taste of Lotus before Bear Creek, they have been booked at the Alabama Music Box in Mobile, AL on Thursday, 27 September 2012. This event was just announced and tickets are now on sale: www.ticketbiscuit.com/AlabamaMusicBox/BuyTickets.aspx?EID=138553 You'll probably never have the chance to see them in this small of a venue again.

woah, I'll have to make this happen. glad to see the music box booking some crunchy bands.
^^ Agreed. I like to get crunchy at the AMB rather than the Kitchen. I like the back of SK a lot but the front just sucks to me, unless it's a tiny local show or Col. Bruce or something nobody is gonna show up at. That Anders Osborne/Luther Dickinson show last December was so badass but the energy would have been better at the box.
There's another crunchy show coming to the Box that same week, details later.
lol. How old are the kids? Do they like the funk? Also, George Porter Jr is one of the nicest musicians that I've ever met. At French Quarter festival he was taking pictures with several families and their kids after his set. He always just hangs out with folks after he's done playing.
We also have friends in Florida that we might make a combined trip out of, and throw in the festival.
I don't know. We're still talking out the details.
Bear Creek is kid friendly as long as your kids aren't runnin' round like little heathens that have just shot up Mountain Dew. There are always some kids runnin' round, but normally the parents are right there with them. You gotta visit SOSMP at least once in your life, if you haven't already done so.
