Feel free to backlash, but I do like Drake. AND his emo last album grew on me pretty fast. Sorry!
Say it ain't so! I had such high hopes for you.
Drake is just the epitome of everything I dislike in hip-hop, so I can't support anyone liking him. I won't knock you for it, I will just pretend I didn't read that.

Haha, well thanks for that pass! I definitely understand. Because I actually do listen to much better Hip-hop (I do promo for the Fader Mag afterall), but I gotta soft spot for cheesy shit.
Anyway..enough of that, whose excited for Jay? I'm hoping that I don't get my expectations too high for surprise appearances bc that's what I'm expecting to happen at this point.

I'm not sure who of the announced people would perform with Jay. I'd rather not have Maybach Music "HUH!" it up on stage during part of Jay's set. To be honest, the guy is so advanced as a hip-hop performer he doesn't need guests, I like just the scaled-down Jigga performance with a band and Jay delivering his early stuff, which I know isn't going to happen.
And that's really cool you do work with Fader magazine. I actually read that, so it must be good.
I definitely agree with that. I don't want Rick Ross on the stage with him. I kinda meant more like Ye or Beyonce (since it's his fest). I've never seen Jay-Z live, so either way, I'm excited. I'm probably gonna lose my shit over it.
And thanks! I love it. Side gig that doesn't pay the bills, but I've gotten to meet some pretty great people and do pretty cool things (work at the events at SXSW and CMJ) and go to free shows.

He exudes awesomeness at his live shows and I've never heard of someone being disappointed by one of his performances. I don't ever get my hopes up for big guests at festivals, but Jay-Z/Kanye are working on another album, and Beyonce is his wife, so I wouldn't rule them out completely. I just wouldn't get my hopes up, that's all.
Although (just to rub it in), I was at the Summerjam concert when Kanye introduce the "Diamonds" remix with Jay. I was with my 3 friends, and we all absolutely love Jay-Z, so Kanye does his first verse, and then you start to hear the "uh.....uh-huh......yup!" Jay-Z sounds. And then 2 seconds later he comes out and drops that ridiculously good verse for the first time.
But yeah, don't expect the reverse to happen or anything, not everyone is as lucky as I am. But with or without guests, shiz will be lost by many, and I'm sure you'll be among them.

That's awesome. I was at the aforementioned Coachella performance, which featured a Beyonce cameo on "Young Forever".
It was my first (and only, so far) time seeing Jigga, and it was awesome start to finish, but the one thing that has always stood out to me about that performance was that from the moment Beyonce took the stage, Jay-Z couldn't take his eyes off of her. It sounds ridiculous, and at first I thought I was just imagining things, but I confirmed with my friends: You could feel his love for Beyonce during that performance.
Even if I was just imagining that, the memory's always made me happy.
Jay Z typically likes to do it big though for his 'own shows' that he puts on. Anytime he puts together there are a ton of guests (MSG, The Home and Home w/ Eminem, so i'd have to say he'd do the same at his first festival. I want to Yankee Stadium night one and it was ridiculous- between Eminem bringing out Dr Dre and G-Unit and Jay Z bringing out Beyonce, Kanye, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Chris Martin and Drake- it was an amazing show. This will literally be my 9 or 10th time seeing Jay-Z and he never disappoints.
As far as artist additions- I'd have to assume Freeway will be there since he was at the press conference with Jay or he'll at least be a part of his set. On the Made in America facebook there was a lot of talk about Foo Fighters early on- not sure where thats coming from but I'd be pretty surprised
Bought mine during the initial pre-sale. They are still only on the 2nd tier early bird tickets. I just saw a two page ad for this in Rolling Stone Magazine.

July 4th? I mean, "Made in America," it would make sense. I don't know..but gimme the juice!
"Hov previously explained the he’s interesting in building suspense by withholding the full lineup. “You know me — I love the show of it. I will reveal them in time and we’ll do some silly things that no one understands and they’ll figure it out,” Hov told Billboard.com’s The Juice in May."

From the MIA facebook people seem to have found that The Hives should be added (Pollstar) and TV on the Radio (tag on the MIA video on youtube w/ all other announced artists)
So we are 100% going to get hunger strike at the pj set which is amazing! Drake, Gary Clark, run dmc, and the hives make me happy. It's still just really weird that the roots aren't on this bill. What's up with that?

I agree. I think it's really weird too, but I can't say I'm all that disappointed, only because I've seen them SO many times. I could see them backing somebody though--which would be cool.
Yeah I would like to see them back rundmc because I can't see them just getting some other random dj to fill in for jam master jay. I would also like to see a mini set of them backing jayz in the middle of his set like how he did at his 9/11 concert at Madison square

They could be backing D'Angelo too, right?
In theory, they could be almost like the MIA House Band - seems like that would be a little bit of a weird spot for them if they weren't already playing a set... but I guess it could be possible they do a separately ticketed show Friday or something and then guest throughout the weekend.
