I didn’t love Melodrama, a few fantastic songs. But that Billie Eyelash is is really just a bad rip off of Pure Heroine imo. A little edgier and more modern but not in a particularly compelling way
just listened to the Billie album and was going to come here to say this. It isn’t a bad album, but it really isn’t interesting.

2019 Shows: 4/30 - Vampire Weekend 6/28 - Father John Misty & Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit 9/6 - Cardi B w/ Teyana Taylor 9/28 - Vulfpeck w/ The Fearless Flyers
Why do they need to be compared tbh. They’re both female pop albums?
I mean, there are definitely stylistic similarities between the two that I think justify comparison. It’s not like its being compared to Thank U, Next or another female pop album that is completely different sonically. There’s obvious influence there.

She's way more relatable to teens than any other female pop artists because of her showing some vulnerability on the state of her mental health and oh-so relatable love life. The way she portrays those themes is bordeline corny to the point of romanticizing it (meaning depression, suicide etc. which a whole other discussion on it's own) imo but I get why she gets so much love from gen-z'ers plus she's way more marketable for the industry than Grimes ever will. She'll eventually make her own 'Melodrama' but now isn't the time.

Is your point that he's already a headliner or that he's not a headliner?
Either way, a SA Lolla lineup is not all that definitive of anything. Post is headlining Roo, Kravitz probably would be like end of second to third line. 1975 get bandied about as a possible headliner every so often, Odesza headlined Lolla and ACL in 2018, etc.

I think he's a headliner but he should write some more music imo, it's been a while since I've heard from him.
I’ve defended post as a headliner but never praised him. I agree Billie blows Sam Smith out of the water but Sam Smith is literally what James Blake would sound like if you took out everything good about James’ music
I don’t listen to modern radio, but if mainstream pop is on its way to having an artlist that is more Grimes than Spears - with production that lends itself more to techno and alternative dance - than they are on the right path imo. I’ll take creative tracks with deteriorating/distorted voice over another big vocal, “Fireworks”, performance any day. I’m not trying to die on a hill for this record at all, but it definitely deserves more credit than it’s being given in this thread.
No one is doubting that he's a headliner, he's just not good/big enough to headline something like Coachella. Gambino doesn't have the back catalogue (like I mentioned above) yet in comparison to someone like The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar, Drake or Kanye West, who headlined in the past.
I’ll be sure to be more of an asshole if I see ya saying similarly dumb things in the future.

I would also like to point out that Amy Winehouse was more talented than Adele will ever be and that Lady Gaga is better than Beyonce.

I probably don't need to point this out (or defend Tranter in any way) but one post about how Post Malone might not be total garbage from four months ago is not the "same breath" and not really relevant to this discussion at all.
