In preperation for this event, I've been listening to the entire Beatles discography in order (Every album is on youtube!). Next will be the Macca catalog, which I am much less familiar with.
I think the moment I'm anticipating the most is 'Hey Jude' I'm not going to say I expect it to be one of the best moments of my life, but looking around and seeing us all singing the 'Naaaa Na Na Na Na Na Naaaaa' in unison may very well bring a tear to my eye. Or two.
Lemme tell you that after the wonderful sing-a-longs to The Beach Boys last year were great and with Macca headlinin' with a bigger crowd it will be spiritual!

I was completely bummed out about missing Roo '13 (mainly because that meant missing Sir Paul)... But I booked a condo for Hangout very early in the year, and just bought a house with my wife so I just cant afford it.
But I got a call from my in-laws last night and they offered us 2 free tix to Macca in Tulsa next month. I saw him in Tulsa in '09 and it was amazing.
This will seriously help relive my concert-envy during Roo-week '13.
Is anyone else getting more and more excited about this as time goes along? I was hesitant at first but Macca is my most-anticipated headliner now.
Out of curiosity, what exactly were you hesitant about to begin with? And of the other headliners who were you more excited to see before you came to your senses?

I don't really care about Petty although I'm sure it will be a good show. I've never seen Mumford and even though the general consensus is that they are "brotastic" I really enjoyed their albums. So initially, Mumford was my top headliner.
After playing a bunch of my Beatles records and thinking about those songs live, well, I can't wait. That's all.

Fair enough.
I saw Mumfords set in 2010 and I thought they put on a good show. I expect the same type of energy and excitement on the What this year. Most people hate on Mumford either because they're not fans of the recent Americana fad, or just wary of them holding down a strong headlining set with only two albums of material. However, if you're a fan of their music then you will enjoy their set.
Despite all that, Macca will undoubtedly blow their performance out of the water.

amen
I got to hear The Dirty Guv'Nas do that last year on Thursday. It was great!!!

You guys think Macca will perform with his son now that he has been added? I'm not sure if they have done that in the past but that would be pretty cool to see two generations of McCartney on stage

I just wanna hear Maybe I'm Amazed. That's all. And if everybody could pretend not to notice when I start sobbing like some '64 era fangirl, that would be super.

I'd say you have a better than 50/50 chance. Of the 19 full concert setlists from last year, he played Maybe I'm Amazed 17 times.

He didn't play that song when I saw him. I was really hoping he would. He played another song dedicated to Linda ( I can't remember the name of it..). This is another one I'd love to hear!
Trombone shorty Local natives Passion pit Wilco McCartney.
I would only miss Calexico who I really wanted to see but I had everyone but local natives on my must see list anyways and I like local natives well enough so eff it you know. See you in line around noon I guess!

Can a vet chime in for a first time Roo'er. My schedule is already Of Monsters -> Half of Passion Pit -> Wilco -> Macca .. With regards to the "pit line". Does this reset after each show or are we more just talking about first come first serve so if you have been at What Stage from Passion Pit on it is just how close you got to the front? Does my question even make sense?
My understanding is that the pit line for the headliner starts at the beginning of the day and they empty the pit after each show so there are multiple pit lines for multiple shows. Outside of the pit you can camp as close as you can get from the moment you get there.
So yeah once you arrive from of monsters get as close as you can. I think it may be difficult by then which is why i plan on waiting in the pit line or at least at the back of the pit area on the rail in from of the regular field. it depends on my line of sight form the pit line and the sound. But both should be ok if I get there early enough.
I just decided to skip Calexico right now I would love to see them but I would rather get a real good spot for McCartney.
another reason I plan on staying all day is that by the time I get from one stage to another say, ten minutes each way sometimes more, it's already time to come back. Ad I barely catch a few songs and am worried about my spot for the next show. Most of my conflicts are hard against each other (Björk v Dwight Yoakum, wu tang v zz top, and super soul dance party v billy idol) anyways and I would rather see a full set than worry about what I missed from each.

Unless you plan on waiting in the pit line all day for McCartney, I dont think you'll need to miss Calexico to camp out at the What all day long.
