Definitely. I haven't heard much Centipede HZ stuff live but I'm glad I watched this video, it's got me a lot more excited. Those songs really work well live.

They're setlists recently have been awesome. Actually a lot more diverse than I expected. I have a feeling that their setup will be really similar to this. It's been pretty consistent throughout the whole tour. I can't imagine them not going all out for a late night/closing tent festival slot.

Really?? I am pretty anti-brothersport (really tired of it mostly due to listening to MPP way too much and seeing it live every time I've seen them) but I think this is definitely the best version yet. The breakdown with Avey and Panda yelling at each other is awesome.

when you put monkey rickes and brothersport back to back it's such a stark transition in mood and theme, that could be part of it.
Ah. If you go back through this thread a page or two I was talking about how I really hope they leave Brothersport off the setlist. But I'm a fan of the new version. The first half off the song is more or less the same but they add a cool breakdown with lots of classic AnCo yelling and the ending is pretty tight.
i think the MPP songs are an outlier, from the rest of AnCo's material. all the live reviews of that tour were meh at best. i remember their lolla set being dead as fuck. it was hot, similar to what happened at their bonnaroo set the same year. I remember watching that on the webcast and wondering why it was so awful.

it seemed muddy or something.
I think the tour when they were first started playing MPP songs (2007ish) was when those sounded best live. Early versions of Bluish where amazing, same with In the Flowers. Guys Eyes was brilliant too, it's probably my favorite song on MPP tbh (close tie with Daily Routine)
The early version of Taste is actually one of my favorite AnCo songs ever. This video is from '07. Once they started actually touring MPP a lot of the songs weren't so great anymore. I think it had something to do with where they were at as a band though, I remember reading a lot about how they were all tired of touring and stuff during that time period.
that makes sense. i didn't realize they'd already been touring that material for two years.
thankfully this album doesn't have the commercial pop appeal that MPP did with my girls and summertime clothes. the touring cycle seems to have slowed down a bit. whoever getting sick probably didn't hurt that aspect of the band either.

Definitely. From what I've seen so far they've been really on point this tour. Plus this will be the first time I've had a chance to see them with Deakin, I'm curious to see in person what kind of difference he makes to the live sound.
When I saw them this last fall, there stage set up is a huge mouth with teeth that light up all different colors. In the "throat" there are these large psychedelic inflatable things. No idea if that's the same stage set up for this leg of the Centipede Hz tour though. Here are some pics:
Frank, definitely check out the full version of the current iteration of Brothersport. Like bansheebeat said, the break down with Avey and Panda screaming is amazing. For me, it was the climax of the show the last time I saw them.
I actually enjoy Monkey Riches into Brothersport, it works in my head. Hoping we get Peacebone too, that song was rocking last time as well.
This is probably my most anticipated set of the weekend, I can hardly wait. I'm excited to hear what sort of set list we get, who knows, we might even get some new material. See you all there!
Edit: Having Deakin back is great. I love the energy he brings to the stage. He's just smiling the whole time, loving every minute of it, it's infectious.
I do believe I will attempt this in between pretty lights and Wolfgang Gardner. I don't really have a horse in this race so I will probably wonder around for the whole Friday late night between all three stages. I cannot guarantee I will like it but I will check it out. I still do not understand the appeal of these guys. The screaming you guys like really rubs me the wrong way. To each his or her own though,
I cannot guarantee I will like it but I will check it out.
i think as an animal collective fan, all you can ask for is that new listeners give them a couple shots. they are definitely not everyone's cup of tea. i was just looking through some of their recent setlists, and i loooove what i am seeing. i really hope they play for the full 2 hours. i am pumped and my wife is dreading it!
Does Panda Bear sing at all during their live shows?
Like bansheebeat said, if Panda sings it on the record, he sings it live too. The setlist seems to be a little more Avey vocal-centric atm, but there are definitely some Panda Bear songs in the live show still.
So effing excited! Getting packed up and getting ready to hit the road!

I was listening to Down There on my way to work today. I really wish they'd do a song off that. I know last time I saw them they played Comfy in Nautica so I guess it isn't unheard of for them to play some solo material? Unfortunately I know this isn't going to happen though!

Not sure, but it would be nice I'd love to hear a few things off of Person Pitch personally, I think it would fit well with the late night set. All I know is that this set is going to be phenomenal

Definitely. I was thinking they were probably gonna play a standard set like they've played all tour but now I'm thinking they may do a little bit more (play longer, play some deeper tracks, etc). Regardless it'll rock!
I think that everyone who was there would agree that AC is a band who is at the height of their game right now. It really was amazing, as was the crowd.

Kind of sucked for me. Got there when ZZ Top ended, and was stuck farther back. Wouldn't be a problem if the tall people surrounding me weren't distorting their sound and there wasn't an, erm... "ecstatic" trio to the right, who were talking through the entire damned set. Also, the crowds unresponsiveness until My Girls pissed me off. Like a few shows this year, I walked away with the intention to see them at a club
(1) Damon Albarn (2) Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds (3) King Khan & His Shrines (4) Ty Segall (5) Ms Lauryn Hill (6) Darkside (7) Kanye (8) Janelle Monae (9) Goat (10) Meshuggah.
