From the Knox Public House's facebook:
"Y'all. As if Sunday March 23 wasn't going to be awesome enough with Sunday Supper action, Ashley Capps and Steve Greene, both of AC Entertainment fame will be DJing their favorite BIG EARS FESTIVAL artists from 5 - 7. It's going to be KILLER. Get there, as always it's happy hour all day."

P.S. , since you don't know Knoxville as well, the KMA is going to the equivalent of the Five Star at Hopscotch. You could almost throw a rock and hit any of the other 4 venues from each other. The KMA is about a 1/2 mile walk though.
I was looking that. Fortunately, for me, it's not a back and forth situation. I'll start all 3 days out there, but won't have to go back. I'll probably end up being just a little late to Dawn of Midi and Dean & Britta, but I'll survive.
Thanks for the heads up.
E: to say if you haven't listened to Helen Money yet, you should. File under "The Heaviest Thing You've Heard A Cellist Do".

I have listened to her a few times. Her album was on one of those year end metal lists I was obsessing over a couple months ago.

Well... I guess I know what I'm doing. I should probably follow their Facebook, too.
PS: In relation to the KMA post, this is another shameless plug for my favorite bar- The Hill is about a block from the KMA and has a great patio, so if you're looking for a spot to have a drink before catching a show at the KMA, this is a great option.
Fine Peduncle White Gregg Ahleuchatistas Linear Downfall Ancient Ocean Wifepile Yung Life Persona La Ave Netherfriends Wesley Wyrick's UNICORNS Faux Ferocious Ex-Gold Shehehe Bigger Lips Palatheda "Breadcrumb Trail" a documentary by Lance Bangs
It looks like mostly local/regional acts. Anyone that should be checked out?
The only bands I'm familiar with are Fine Peduncle and Ahleuchatistas. I love both but, given when they are playing, I'll be skipping that. I will be in attendance for Breadcrumb Trail though.
That is a Slint documentary, after all.

Fine Peduncle is incredible! I know that's where I'll be, and I definitely recommend his music. Thanks for all the links, btw- I'll definitely hit some of those up

Is this where we are meeting up, pre-fest?

If they are open and everyone is planning on going to the kick-off event, it might be our best choice.

If I haven't said it before, I won't be arriving on Friday until around 10pm. I'll keep in touch by text to see where y'all are, to meet up then. Really hoping I'll arrive before 10, to catch the very end of Colin Stetson at Scruffy City Hall. Who's planning on being there for that?

They'll be open, and it's the closest bar to the KMA, so we might as well. They have a nice patio (on the KMA side of the building!) that we can use if the weather is nice. Plus cornhole boards, if anyone is into that.
Apparently, Helen Money is sitting in with Rachel Grimes, too.
From her FB: "Playing 2 shows at Big Ears Festival in Knoxville next weekend: with Rachel Grimes Piano Sunday at 3:45 and Helen Money set Saturday at 1:30"
Does anyone know what the deal is with wristbands for this festival? I haven't seen any info on the site. I don't think they would just let you carry around a ticket everywhere, would they?
Looking forward the most to seeing Tim Hecker for the third time, Colin Stetson, Nils Frahm, and Earth.

An email was just sent out with check-in, ticket, and wristband info.
But this part caught my attention:
We are so truly excited about the headlining program of Steve Reich’s Music for 18 Musicians, Radio Rewrite, and Clapping by Ensemble Signal and Electric Counterpoint by Jonny Greenwood on the Sunday night of Big Ears! And in order to help create a more focused environment for these pieces, we are going institute reserved seating to these particular performances at The Tennessee Theatre. Sunday night tickets will be given to you when you visit Big Ears Check-In to pick up your festival wristband. This ticket PLUS your festival wristband will guarantee you entry to this program as well as your specific seat to this special set of shows.
So, it sounds like if we Inforoosters want to try to stay together for that show, it's gonna be tricky.
Ugh. I just saw that. Unless we meet up and check in together, we not be sitting together.
Here's the check in times:
Big Ears Check-In is located on the left hand side of the Tennessee Theatre, down Clinch Avenue, door 224. Locals may know this office as the daytime box office for the Tennessee and Bijou Theatres. Check-In hours are below:
Thursday 3/27: 10AM to 8PM Friday 3/28: 10AM to Midnight Saturday 3/29: 10AM to Midnight Sunday 3/30: 11AM to 8PM
Anyone else staying at the Crowne Plaza? What's the inforoo roster lookin like? Hopefully, conflict-free. Friday afternoon delight meet-up? Sunday brunch? Who's runnin' this goddamn shindig? Lets get organized.
I'm at the Crown Plaza. Right now I'm not sure what time I'm going to get to Knoxville on Friday. I'm doing my best to convince someone not to have a meeting at work that afternoon.

I'm not going to big ears but I do want to meet up with everyone. Looks like there is a thing on Saturday at noon so what about Brunch on Sunday? If that's good, who all is interested and we can narrow down places.

Sounds great, but Sunday morning I will be back home serving my church services and praying for all of your heathen souls. How about Saturday morning?

There's no brunch without steveternal. I vote for just getting up a little early. I'm not sure who all was planning to see Ribot though.
