Great little fest. Only regrets were sleeping-in thru brunch and 2 Glenn Kotche sets. And missing Low due to the scheduling screwjob. Had a blast hoppping from great venue to great venue with LoveLuckLaughter and friends and walking right up to stages full of mind-blowing musicians.
Hightlights included...
Marc Ribot & Cubanos Positivos shaking all asses and balconies. I was doing some cumbia moves next to Capp Dog and his lady and told him he throws the best damn parties. Pretty sure he's never heard that one. Son Lux- Tons of angsty live energy, like an early Bright Eyes doing Flips/Cursive. They were so damn glad to be there with some of the greats on the bill. Buke & Gase- these two are so tight and fun. a never miss Television- visionary Dean & Britta doing soundtrack songs to Andy Warhol video portraits of Lou Reed, Dennis Hopper and several, mad, dead hipsters from the factory. This was a stunning piece. Onehtrix and Hekker were trippy.

I'm gonna be honest. I asked Whore why the hell our hippie asses decided to do Big Ears instead of sleeping in the VW at Hoopla in the Hills. I was even a little mad about it all. But, I had a fantastic time. Not only did I see some kick ass people like abrakapokus, Dave Maynar, catfoodparty and NotMitchelBade, but the music was once in a lifetime sort of amazing. And damn, Knoxville is a nice little city. So, Whoreshack, thank you once again for knowing what I need before I even know what I need. Love ya.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

Awww yeah. Found on the Big Ears FB page.
Also, since I saw some BS about fedoras in a thread that seemed to be the official gateway to azzzholery, note that Whoreshack has been rocking a fedora for longer than many of you have been alive, and is cool as fuqk.
