I figured the announcement of Moogfest moving into the spring next year(Ashville) would squash the possibility of this being resurrected. Glad to see signs contrary! Maybe they'll have Big Ears too but move it on the calendar to avoid competing with themselves.
Edit: I just remembered what went down with the Moogfest people severing their partnership with AC, so it makes PERFECT sense that they would hold it around the same time to take back with them what they brought to Moog in the first place.
Oh HAI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (via Big Ears FB) "Big Ears is starting to awaken from its slumber...stay tuned for new about Big Ears 2014 in the coming weeks!". Dave Maynar and abrakapokus, I'm calling floor space now.
Have at it and as long as it's decent weather, everyone is welcome to fill up yard space with tents or hell we can go up on my parent's farm and all camp there plus have bonfires etc.
I remember it being quite cold moving between venues at the previous 2 so while I'm anxious to see it resurrected I also could stand to have it at the same time or perhaps even a little later on the calendar to guarantee safe travels on the mountainous roads getting there.
Seriously though, that would be a bad call especially since Moogfest is probably going to bring it hard for weird electronic music. There's only so many hipsters to go around, Sang.
Commented a FB status with " More very soon..." and then wished a belated birthday to Steve Reich. If Reich were to play this, I'd just die.
His website lists a sh*t ton of dates for this year, so he is still touring extensively. Also, Terry Riley was a headliner with the last one, and Reich is in the same ballpark.
Oh, and with the trend of AC Ent's social media this year, you can almost guarantee an appearance by Reich. Thats been how they have teased the lineup for both Forecastle and MOEMS.

He's been as elusive as Philip Glass was for me. He tours constantly, but rarely in the US. He couldn't be anything less than a headliner, imo.

Yeah. That was part of the reason for the Riley comparison. The last version had a headliner in a similar vein, so it wouldn't be shocking for Reich to be the headliner when they bring it back. Good to build some continuity after time off.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Really hope it's in February. If Steven Reich is indeed there, can we ask Capps to have Mr. Greenwood accompany him?
Also for the people who've been before, how was it?
EDIT; Don't know if it means anything, but My Morning Jacket posted on facebook that "One BIG announcement coming tomorrow"
That could either be their festival or something, but it seems like a such a coincidence
MMJ would be great (especially since they never come to Knoxville), but they're probably too big for this one based off the previous line-ups. Also, AC already used MMJ to kick off their rebirth of Forecastle, so it would be kind of redundant to use them for the rebirth of Big Ears.
I didn't make it to any of the previous incarnations of Big Ears, but I am curious to see which venues they use around Knoxville. I have been to almost all of them at one time or the other, so I can at least give an idea of what they are like.
