This is great. A full slate of bands I want to see each day. It appears that Saturday will likely have some late afternoon conflicts for me to choose between.

Just putting it out there that I've got a lot of self-hate going on after not purchasing tickets (like hundreds of others). If for some reason someone has a conflict and can't go or stumbles into extras, put me on the please contact list. Lineup is amazing.

Haz no tickets but can find some poison ivy for you. : ) bunch of uptights posting on fb... anyone want to by my tickets?
Have to go with K2...... NFF has a new board which is rocking it big time, however there has always been a retro tribute. I'm s little confused this year. Is this the year the change that????

We need to see if there's any big time old folkies playing the area this summer and can't be announced due to that appearance.
Maybe Willie Nelson? It'd be odd that he's at the Yachting Center and would then play NFF but wouldn't be out of the question.
It's that "Stay Tuned" graphic that puts this in play for me.
Lyle Lovett's at the South Shore Music Circus July 6th. That'd be amazing.
B.B. King is at Hampton Beach July 11th.
Billy Bragg is at Berklee April 28th.
Leo Kottke is in Natick April 27th.
James Taylor summers in Jamestown now. Maybe he'll make the trek over as a surprise. His website only has him booked for Hawaii and says he'll be at special events all year...

That's the best research I have right now.
Much <3 for that research Groz!! It's not that i need more, just seems like there is a piece of the puzzle missing. No grilled cheese for me. Love where you thoughts have gone above. I agree with the 'stay tuned' and the talk earlier in the year of possibly with holding line up info until just before. No matter, great music and a great weekend will be had!
Dawes and Deer Tick both announced as evening shows today. Dawes are at Pickens Theater July 26&27 Deer Tick at Newport Blues Cafe July 26-28
Awesome! Thanks for the heads up.
They mention other evening shows that will be announced soon, too. I like that they are doing this, as the one after-show with Deer Tick became the show everyone tries to go to. Spreading the love like this is cool.
Now I just need to secure tickets to this and the festival lol
What was the price of the Deer Tick shows last year? I am just trying to figure out how much I'd have to pay to go to an after show.
Wish Dawes was also playing the fest, but this sounds pretty sweet. Can't say that nobody saw this announcement coming though, hah.
They should be around. I could see some guest spots....maybe with McCauley's solo set. Still holding out hope for a Middle Brother set but not expecting it.
I can't remember exactly how much they were but I think they were reasonably priced. I think less than $30 each night but hopefully someone else can clarify.
The Dawes shows are replacing the Backstage BBQ benefit show, which if I remember was very pricey. Does anyone know what the price was for it last year, exactly? I'm having a hard time finding the info.
Dawes & Friends will also be a benefit show, so I expect prices to be on par with last year.
I'm not sure whether to think that this makes him more or less likely. Less for the fact that he'll already be in Newport only a month before; more for the fact that it may just be the reason there's a hold out on announcing the last act/s of the lineup.
Well, now they specifically said festivals so that changes my thinking. What regional festivals would have a radius clause? Off the top of my head we have Gathering of the Vibes, Wilco's Solid Sound, the yet-to-be announced Life is Good, Boston Calling, Governor's Ball in NYC but that's a bit of stretch. I think NFF maybe sharing a headliner with Life is Good...

It has to be a festival with enough clout to be able to enforce a radius clause.
Is it just a coincidence that the Avett Brothers were announced the day after Governor's Ball sold out of 3 days?
Has anybody else wondered how Jim James is going to play Newport Folk Fest the same day as he is playing in Wantagh, NY with My Morning Jacket? I guess it's doable as the cities are only a 3 and a half hour drive away from one another (an even quicker flight), but it still seems kind of odd that someone's voice could handle 2 shows only a few hours apart from one another.
I guess it's still possible that the MMJ/Wilco/Dylan tour dates are not set in stone yet (as they were leaked today and will be out officially tomorrow).
I was wondering that myself. I can't actually believe those dates are right. Jim would have to have an early afternoon set at Newport just to make it to Long Island in time for the MMJ set - chartered jet and all. Possible, but I don't see it as likely.
I wonder if that LI date is really July 21st and not the 27th.

What additional shows on what nights are people planning on going to? I don't want to buy tickets for a night of Deer Tick that none of the rest of y'all are going to!
Maybe he will switch his day at Newport or maybe it was a mistake. Or maybe Jim is that magical that he can pull it off?
The Dylan tour dates have them playing all three days of NFF. He could play two shows on one day. It's been done before, but to do it, he'd have to go on pretty early in the day at NFF.

I'm planning on at least doing the Friday and Saturday night Deer Tick shows. May have to miss Sunday night again this year in order to get home that night. Just gotta make sure to secure tickets.
