I would like to do one Deer Tick and one Dawes show. Ideally, Friday and Saturday nights, but not sure which one on which night yet. Also, I may rethink this if the Dawes shows are really expensive.
Robert Plant would probably be too big to fill the "throwback" act (but not a headliner) spot, right? Because this puts him pretty close to Newport with no tour dates on July 26 or 28, and it would make sense that he'd like to sell as many tickets to the Boston show before announcing his appearance at the fest.

Yeah-I'm leaning toward doing at least one Deer Tick show, but if the tickets go on sale, and I have to make a split decision about what day to purchase, I just wanted to know if there was a consensus of when those from this board would be going. I'm thinking Dawes may be kinda spendy, and I'll get a chance to see them earlier in the summer.

Robert Plant's fee is fairly exorbitant and with the fee he commands and the Boston radius clause for BOA, I think there is little to no chance he shows up at Newport
I just noticed today that the lineup on the NFF website is now ordered by day and by popularity. Makes visualizing a possible schedule a little bit easier. Also, the Berklee Choir is officially on Sunday.

I was starting to think maybe they would be busking all weekend which would have been pretty awesome but maybe they come out for a sing along to close sunday.
This. I'm going to be looking for a weekend pass for me. Think I convinced my parents to go to the fest as well if I could find tix (though they'd avoid Quack Club lol).
Yeah, I was supposed to buy tickets for my parents back before they sold out... and then I dropped the ball and it sold out (although I still stick to the, "why is it my job to buy them when the two of you are extremely computer literate?)
Also, We're so happy to announce that Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes & John McCauley of Deer Tick are the newest members of our Newport Folk Board of Advisors. We're also excited to announce that tickets for "An Evening with Dawes & Friends" on July 26 & 27 go on sale this Monday, April 29 at 10am. Thanks to Junior Johnson's Midnight Moon for helping us make this happen. Sure to be a memorable few nights.
The Board of Advisors is like this heavenly group of musicians now. Also, I want to do an evening of Dawes and Friends... who is with me?
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
$45 is kind of steep for a Dawes show (when I've seen them free 3 times in the past 3 years). But I may be in. It's hard for me to knowingly pass up Dawes in Newport.

That was my first thought. But then I thought of the "and Friends" and thought about the possibilities...

I've been thinking about biting the bullet and just picking up a weekend pass off Stubhub for $300. It's more than I would have liked to spend but I do really need to be at this festival and don't want to chance it. Just hoping the Stubhub ones don't increase as we get closer.

It's Dawes and Friends. This won't be a typical Dawes show and should likely have a few worthwhile guests. If there were no Deer Tick shows I'd be all over this.

Niiiice We'll chat. I don't thiiiink I want to do both. I like having a littlw QC hang out time
Let me know what y'all are thinking - I kind of want to do one Dawes show and one Deer Tick show, but I'd like to try to have a similar schedule to others!
Dawes is Friday and Saturday... I can't decide which would be better! Are you ladies doing all three days? My first inclination is Saturday. Some people aren't doing Friday and so I think Friday will end up being a better hang out with everybody night? But I'm open.

I'm doing all three days, so I'll be arriving at QC on Thursday. Saturday is fine with me - is that what we want to do? Then I'll do Deer Tick either Friday or Sunday.

Ticket limits for this event will be strictly enforced. Any purchasers exceeding the ticket limit may have their tickets cancelled without notice. Check-in begins at 8:00pm. Doors are 8:30pm and show begins at 9:00pm. Valid photo ID and credit card used for purchase are required for entry. See you at the Pickens!
Do keep the 'will call' in mind. Especially for the Deer tick shows. You will be required to show your ID and C/C to get the tickets. Last year i scooped up a bunch of tickets for the Q/C gang. Not thinking in advance that it meant i had to be there to pick them up and get everyone in...
We had several folks understandably opt-out after the rain storm saturday. I'll never forget the look on the ticket ladies face when we gave two tickets away to two ecstatic gents. They were so frickin happy. Priceless all the way around!
Ticket Lady >> YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE DONE THAT! I have a waiting list!! FM >> But i paid for the tickets TL>> AND I have a waiting list FM>> These guys were waiting right there TL >> Thats NOT the list FM >> would you have given me a refund? TL >> No refunds FM >> Then they were mine to give away TL >> But i have a waiting list FM >> good thing my 'brothers' showed up when they did
She was going to 'sell' my two unused tickets again and not refund me... No double dipping with my tickies.. I'm usually not that ballsy but ^^^ was not happening.
I'll be home at QC in my comfies keeping the light on for ya'll.
