Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Deer Tick will be at the Blue Cafe again for their 3 night run..which IMO is the best thing about the entire weekend. I could really care less if they play the actual festival...their fest sets are nowhere as good as their late night sets.
Those shows were really special. They were amazing add-ons to the newport folk fest. Wish I had been previous uyears.
Last year was around the first of March so I would imagine we have a little more to go.
Still curious if they will be revealing the headliners or if they went with the "Book smaller bands that we can reveal".
Yup last year was March 1st. Do you already have tickets? 3-day passes are already gone. But you can get 1-day for each day for $209 total.
I don't have tickets. I'm not sure if I'll be able to pull this off or not. I'm still in the air for Roo because I've been thinking of trying to get a new job but am not sure I'd be able to take time off if I did get a new job. I'm conflicted. I may end up staying where I'm at for now so I can have time off for Roo.
I am hoping to know very soon if I can attend. Some very big decisions are being made at work, so I am having to hold off until then since that affects many things with my coming to QC & NFF. As soon as I hear the word, I will hurry & purchase tickets & let y'all know. Keeping fingers crossed that I do get to make it.

Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
The Lone Bellow appear to be the first official announced band on the lineup. Off to a good start!
Just came here to post this! I have never heard of them, but I'm watching the video they posted now. So far.. awesome!!
As you know, the festival takes great care in it's curatorial process. Each artist we invite, no matter how small or well-known, enhances the overall experience. It's truly inspiring to see every set so well attended- a testament to your love of musical discovery and open mindedness. The faith you constantly display allows us to continually take chances with our programming, and for that, we are humbly grateful. Therefore, we would like to start our 2013 line-up announcements by introducing you to one of our favorite new artists: The Lone Bellow. In true Folk fashion, please give them a listen and welcome them to our line-up!

We're excited to announce another first-time artist to the Festival this year. We fell in love with Shovels and Rope the minute we first heard them, and hope you will too...please welcome them to our Folk Family!
I still hold a slight grudge against them, but I am SUPER excited for this one!

Nice. I'm really liking this lineup announcement process they have going on. A new band every few days gives me time to get some listening in before the next one is announced.
The song "Penitentiary" by Houndmouth has been on heavy rotation in our office since the fall, and we're pleased to announce that they'll be joining us at the Festival this summer! Please welcome them to our 2013 Lineup and Folk Family. www.newportfolkfest.net/introducing/houndmouth
Also, all you Tactile people:
Hey Folk, as you may have noticed we've been asking some of our music writer friends to help us with our 2013 artist introductions. We wondered if any of you would want to write an intro for us. If interested please send us a link to a writing sample and name three artists you hope are playing this year that you would want to write about. Be sure to put a contact number where we can reach you if you are chosen. Please send all links to oneofthefolk@gmail.com

In other news, It's after 4:30 which means I can officially listen to music at the office. Let the research begin! First up? Last Bison (it won't last long, I only see 4 songs on Spotify)

In the past you mentioned that you were playing around with the idea of changing the way you created and/or announced the lineup:
“so two choices have no ‘headlining’ artists meaning all great but smaller artists and announce the line-up OR a few surprise/ ‘bigge’ artists announced at the last minute...”.
Now that you are slowly releasing the smaller names (all of which I love!), can you share what you decided to do as far as headliners are concerned? By the way, I already have my ticket in hand and will be there no matter what the answer is.
Thank you!
PS Jacko- if you're reading this, you just update the original post with the artists that we know1
Update:: They answered fast! I guess I wasn't really thinking when I said "smaller names"- I was simply thinking along the lines up "no headliners right now" phrase. But here is their response:
Hi Bonnie Thanks for writing, and thank you VERY much for being such a trusting supporter! While we wouldn't exactly consider Andrew Bird a "smaller name" we do understand your question. Our plan, as it stands now is to keep rolling out big and small names alike in the same fashion as we've been doing. In other words we will be announcing all artists names over the next few weeks, as various restrictions and other limitations allow.
Hope this info helps and again, we can not thank you enough for your support!
Team Folk
PS tune in tomorrow for another great artist announcement

Re: The Last Bison, give them a chance despite the over-the-top dress and stage set up. They are so much more than just your standard folk band in both musical talent and songwriting style. I've seen them 3 times and have been completely overwhelmed every show.
They are sort of a local band for me, so I'm a little biased, but it is so good to see them getting spots at these festivals.

Just bought my 2 day pass for this festival. Not sure about buying a single for Friday yet. I would love to have some ideas what band/s will be on Friday before shelling out $50. Unfortunately, this probably means no Roo for me this year (it didn't fit in with schedules as well; which sucks because the rumors are looking great for Roo)
Over the next few weeks I will likely be posting random questions to you NFF vets.. I will be a Newport first timer so any information you can volunteer would be great.
First question: What can you tell me about these Deer Tick night shows?
Also, I am 100% on (bands I want to see)/(bands announced so far).
