Didn't see a thread about it yet so decided to create one.
Looks like Firefly's returning for year 2 after what seemed to be a pretty great lineup for a first year fest.
Who do you all predict's playing, who's attending this year and who thinks this festival has what it takes to become even bigger next year? Unfortunately I was unable to attend last year (was supposed to volunteer but plans changed at last minute) so I won't be able to offer any insight.
I accidentally started another Firefly thread but saw this one and deleted it. I searched it and this thread didn't pop up. Anyhow... Did anyone go to Firefly last year? The 2012 Lineup was super lovely. Very solid for a first year fest. We're gonna cover it this year. Anybody got any advice?
It looks like presale sold out quickly.
Festival Info Firefly Festival Dover, Deleware July 21-23 Presale price $148 Presale VIP $595 Presale Super VIP $1195 (Free Hot Air Balloon rides?) Website: fireflyfestival.com/

I went last year. Cool lineup. Cool set up. The lack of a late night and bro vibe killed it tho. Very much a fest for kids who go to the near by college. I'd do it again if they had a spectacular lineup with one or two rare acts I won't see at Roo or lolla.. But barring that, you can skip it.

Depending on the lineup I may be back as well. I bought a camper outside of Bethany beach last year which is only an hour away so info firefly should consider coming camping with me on the beach after the fest.
lol at this fest being more "bro" than Bonnaroo or Lolla.
Last year I did all three and I can say with certainty this fest was the most bro of them all. I'm 25 and I felt old as shit surrounded by drunk 19 year olds.

The same..... I mean I hope they were 19 or I might have some 'splainin to do.

I honest to god don't know what you guys are talking about.
All were bro'ed out. Don't get me wrong. But to say Firefly was any worse? Psh. Lolla and Roo are Brofests to the max.
I did not see Bassnectar, Girl Talk, Lupe, etc. though, so maybe I missed the worst of it? The campgrounds were definitely younger/more party vibe though, but the actually festival? Nah. Standard major festival shiz show.
I am planning on going. Because I'm old and the surplus of 19 yr broskis I think I'll be staying in a hotel. I dont mind camping, but the shows end early then everyone gets wasted at the campsites. It's fun to a point but the kids drove me nuts. But needless to say, its super close and if the lineup is solid i will be there!

I went. I'm from the town it's held in. I loved it last year, even though I volunteered... DO NOT VOLUNTEER UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY CANNOT AFFORD A PASS... the people that run the fest take their volunteers seriously for granted. They need to make some serious changes to this fest, but it's a work in progress. I'm hoping to see less pop and more indie stuff.

Yeah I guess I am mostly referring to the camp grounds.. I dunno.. Without getting too graphic when you go to Perry's at lolla it is without question bro.. But also the substances being sold in and around Perrys create a different atmosphere then the kids at Firefly who were sneaking in beer filled camelbaks... Firefly was more about the booze, which given the type of people who attended, made things that much worse.

I thought firefly was a good time, i Hope it sticks around. Sure there was the issue of the main stage's sound getting f'd up but aside from that pretty solid first year fest which has been much needed in the north east (seriously in an area that has 3 of the biggest cities in the us we can get a big fest here?). Plus it was pretty impressive that they got the killers for basically a one off show last summer. I'm hoping they can score arcade fire for a one off / warm up show this year
I emailed Capital Cites management trying to figure out if they would be at bonnaroo, and he said the only festival there booked for as of now is Firefly.
i will probably be attending for a second year, because it is only an hour from my house and because i will be suffereing from PBD (post bonnaroo depression) and this will help to somewhat cure that. Hoping for a good lineup like last year.

Thank goodness! that 11:00 crap wasn't cutting it... I went to the afterparty on Saturday during Fly 12, Yeasayer left much to be desired... I went to one of the bars in the casino where I actually know people. I did end up meeting and hanging out with Sean Gadd from Grouplove, so the night wasn't a complete waste.

I went last year...it was def an OKAY fest...no where near the fun at Roo...the camp grounds were severely lacking in many essentials (more bathrooms, places to eat) and even inside the fest I felt like I was kinda stuck with the same options over and over again....I loved the lineup though. Def the best part of it, especially since it's super close to my house...I felt like it was a few weeks after Roo last year though. Don't know if I can pull back to back festival weekends this year -_-
Yea, it was in July last year. This year will be a little different, getting back from Roo on Monday and heading back out to Firefly on Friday. It'll be a nice way to curb that post Roo depression though, so Im fine with it.
