I'm going to keep bitching about the lineup until July. They seriously could not book worse headliners than F'Lips, Avett, Black Keys. I have no interest in any of them :\

I can't say for certain yet but I'm planning on coming back to Forecastle this year. I'll definitely stay at the Galt House this year and will likely need to split a room with someone. Courtyard might be nicer but the Galt House is where its at.
What are you hoping to see on the lineup bansheebeat?
I don't know really. I know I'm in the minority but I really don't like Avett Bros or Black Keys. And I've seen F'Lips too many times to be interested in them again.
If I could have a dream lineup The Cure and Postal Service would be involved.

I feel like this festival is going to be made for me with what the bottom looks like. Can they get acts that I wanted for Bonnaroo if they aren't added. Based on what they've added I don't see YYYs or VW being added. ACe has already said MGMT won't be there. Foxygen is already a good get, seeing them tonight.
MS MR, Cut Copy, CHVRCHES, The Neighbourhood, Family of the Year, Conner Youngblood, Caspian, River City Extension, Givers, He's My Brother She's My Sister, Wake Owl, ON AN ON, Kitten, 1975, or outside hope of Keep Shelly in Athens.
Any of those seem like they could fit in well with last years lineup and with the spots available. Not holding my breath though.
Just want to say that I doubt the Avettes will be headlining. Some article said that Forecastle expects 75000 people to attend this year (compared to last years 30,00, i think). so, I'd expect the headliners to be BIG. If the black keys rumor is true, that's the only headliner I think has been listed. Also, around town people have said Jack White a lot. I don't believe it, but its a big rumor here
75,000 could easily fit into Waterfront Park but they'd definitely have to expand the festival boundaries or add another stage. Forecastle is only using a portion of the park. The big kick off party for the Kentucky Derby, "Thunder Over Louisville", is held there and has averaged 625,000 people each year since 1997. I do have a hard time believing they will draw 75,000 to Forecastle, but space isn't the issue.
As far as Avetts headlining, I think it could go either way. Bassnectar did headline Friday night last year and I think Avett Bros draw is definitely comparable.
lol that article was wrong. there is no way 75,000 people would fit in that park.
and jack white isnt touring in 2013.
false. I've read an interview in which AC was quoted saying the biggest problem with Forecastle is that they have too much space. and like banshee said, Thunder of Louisville is proof that there is plenty of space for expansion. and when i say 75,000, they say 75000 ove three days, which i always feel like implies there will never be that many there at once.
Last year had about 37-39000 over 3 days. 11-12000 friday and sunday, 15000 saturday. With the set up they used last year, 25000 a day would be miserable. However they used less of Waterfront Park than was used prior to AC taking over (ie the 2010 festival) so if they expand the space it could be doable. I just can't see 25000 per day in the space they used last year.
Anybody happen to have a link of the article stating "75,000" people? Also anyone have any clue as to what the audio clue was on the latest FB post? Some guesses indicate it could be Junip.
That isn't the original article, but it quotes the original which quotes Holly Weiler or whatever who is the girlfriend of JK McNight, and she does quite a bit for the fest. Not sure of her actual job but it has something to do with sponsors and stuff.

You also have to take into account anything geared towards sponsors having to so with attendance is going to be super inflated or at least the max amount they think they can bring.

Interestingly, Dawes and Bob Dylan just announced a string on tour dates together in April. I'm probably crazy, but perhaps Dylan is headlining Forecastle one of the nights? Not sure he plays many festivals.
I really really don't think the avetts wil headline. They aren't the caliber of last years headliners, are they. Bass nectar and MMJ I'd say are bigger. I'm biased towards wilco so I can't say one way or the other on that

I was tryin to compare the prospective 2013 headliners to last year's too. I think black keys and MMJ are comparable, but I think Wilco is much bigger than the Avett Bros. I could be wrong on that though. I expect a bigger EDM headliner than Bassnectar this year too.
Avetts are most likely a pre-headliner. Even if last year's attendance was similar to this years, the Avett's are second lining similiar or smaller sized festivals like Mountain Jam.
The Flips have a better chance of getting a headliner spot IMO.

I'd say Wilco and the Avetts are closer in comparison than the Black Keys and MMJ. The Black Keys are a much bigger name than MMJ.

Maybe not in Louisville, but I'd say that Avett's are bigger than MMJ generally speaking. They could absolutely HL.
