NIN and Pearl Jam are already enough for me to confirm I am going. Don't think I can afford VIP this year, of course now I wish I would've bought them when they were "just" $300 in the holiday presale, but given that lineups in the past few years have been kind of shaky, I was worried about the headliners being Green Day / Mumford / Blink-182 or something like that.
As Voodoo is laid out these days, it is difficult being an equal fan of EDM and rock, because you know the respective headliners will be playing at the same time. I'm definitely not missing Pearl Jam or NIN for anybody. I love Bassnectar and have never caught him live, though I've had tons of near misses. Chances are I'll miss him again at Voodoo.
Having said that, the sound at Le Plur was really weak last year. Luckily I was able to get in the VIP pit for most acts, but I noticed any act I caught in the normal crowd the sound just wasn't loud enough.
Gonna be really interesting to see who the last headliner is. I've heard a few different rumors, nothing conclusive.
And don't leave out them getting one of Hangout's headliners as a crossover. Jack White played both fests last year.
If they did end up getting Green Day, that would be a pretty stacked top three. I'd rather them not get Green Day, but coupled with Pearl Jam and NIN that would sell a ton of tickets. BUT, such a stacked top three could mean a weak undercard.
Since I've got my headliner fix, I'm all for a more mid-tiery/less expensive third headliner, because A) chances are it would be somebody I'd be more interested in seeing, since the mid-tiery headliner pool runs deeper into my musical interests then the BNA headliner pool and B) it would leave more money for a strong undercard.
The ideal mid-tiery headliner is MMJ, but I bet Jim James will still be doing his solo stuff in the fall. I don't think Queens of the Stone Age are high enough in the mid tier to be a Voodoo headliner, but I would be thrilled with them as a choice. Would definitely give the top of the card some full balls, and when I think of Voodoo that's what I want: balls.

I will be leaning towards going. I was and still will be waiting for the ACL line-up, but Nine Inch Nails or How To Destroy angels is what I was hoping for, both is awesome. Add Pearl Jam and it's gravy. A nice 3 cards showing. I wonder what ACL will have.
I have wanted to go for a while, and could get there a day early for Halloween in New Orleans which would be crazy also. Sounds like fun.
If you go to the FAQs link on the official page you can see the new layout of the festival grounds. Also, that is were it says no single day will be sold. Im sure that could change though.
Weird. looks like two big stages with LOA VIP area in the middle of them (glad I followed through with getting VIP during holiday sale). There appears to be 4 stages in the background, so they could be adding another stage this year. I actually hope they follow through with not selling daily passes because all that does for me is make it harder to get close for sets at main stage on Saturday. I just can't see them not wanting to bank all that extra cash though, but they are under different ownership now so I suppose they're not bullshitting.

Cool. Once the full lineup is announced and I get all the names here going, I'll create a group PM or a FB group. If you have any specific questions now though, feel free to drop them in here. This year is going to be amazing and you will have a blast in nola. The best times to visit nola is during jazzfest, voodoo, and mardi gras. I prefer Voodoo over them all.

Cool. I used to hang in the Qtr in the crazy days but not for many years. This will be fun ... cr****
Thanks for the site map! I really don't know if I'm more excited about Pearl Jam at Voodoo or just going to nola!! Please add me when you set up a PM or FB group
All that stuff to the right is going to be vendors. It looks like the layout could have some soundbleed issues for the smaller stages if you're not close, but it is typically fairly easy to get close if you arrive 5 minutes before a set starts. Hell, some sets it doesn't matter when you show up to get close. Last year there was only like 20 of us at Kid Koala. 6 stages means we have a shitload of additions this year. We have 15 names now. Last year there were like 80ish total, so depending on how they do the scheduling we could have 90-100 acts total. I'm hoping we get more crossover from MOEMS like Animal Collective, Gary Numan, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Bosnian Rainbows, etc. We already have enough cheesy artists that will attract the masses, but you never know. It's quite possible that the new stage could just be a secondary untz stage or devoted specifically for nola artists/bands. Hopefully the latter.

What the main stage/le plur stage setup is telling me is that the sets on each stage probably won't overlap, a la the old school "dueling" main stages voodoo used to have. I say this because of the way the VIP cargo containers are setup. It would be a poor experience if in the VIP section you could hear both stages going simultaneously, wouldn't make any sense. So I'm thinking the sets will go back and forth, which is fantastic news for me. It means I might actually be able to catch the electronic headliners I want to see.
We bought out tics yesterday. I went ahead and bought camping just in case, but if anyone might be interested in sharing a hotel, we might talk. Roo to VooDoo meetup cr****
I think the 3rd headliner will be an ACL crossover (Muse, The Cure, or it's TBA headliner) or one of the Hangout headliners (Most likely KoL or Tom Petty).

Muse just headlined Voodoo in 2010 (probably too soon for repeat). The Cure is too expensive and the draw for them here probably isn't worth that investment (but that would make me very happy though...The Cure is high up there on my bucketlist). I doubt they'll share a Hangout headliner because they never have and it wouldn't make sense because they could get a better draw with getting someone who is not already playing in the area this year. They won't get Mumford because they're playing Mardi Gras World in June. Black Sabbath, Depeche Mode, Atoms for Peace, Guns & Roses, Beck, Jay-Z, or Kanye West seem like the logical options here. They typically have a fairly big name rap or hip hop group/artist on the lineup so if we don't get Wu-Tang, Jurassic 5, etc as an addition to the undercard, Jay-Z or Kanye would make the most sense as the third headliner.
shit, I'm gonna be pissed if they're waiting to announce KoL or Petty because of Hangout. If only Jack White was touring with something else this year, they'd totally get him 3 years in a row. Also, Depeche Mode is more expensive than The Cure as they're billed higher at ACL so what the fuck do I know.

I think we need to be considering acts smaller than Pearl Jam or NIN, unless we are assuming that NIN is the "small" headliner. So I'm thinking like an MMJ, or a jamband or something like that.
My friend keeps saying Muse or Phoenix. But Voodoo doesn't recycle acts very much like Muse (Except for NIN, who played there frequently back before their hiatus) and Phoenix I feel is too small, plus they just played Jazz Fest.

Actually I think Phoenix is the perfect size for the "third" headliner. I guess I'm all alone in this thread thinking the third headliner won't be as big as NIN or Pearl Jam.

Last year I would say they're weren't three small headliners.... NYCH/Metallica/Jack White is a pretty huge combination. Plus it's their 15th anniversary, I'd think they'd wanna make it a bigger deal this year and go more all out.
Assuming Pearl Jam is just as expensive as Green Day/Metallica, I'd say they are our saturday "big" headliner. NIN is on par with Jack White/Raconteurs/Soundgarden (that wasn't true over a decade ago, but NIN is definitely a soft headliner now). I'd say we get something at least as big as NIN and I feel like Black Sabbath is about the equivalent of Neil Young & Crazy Horse (maybe even less expensive now without Bill). I wouldn't mind them going with something the same size or smaller than NIN though such as MMJ, Phoenix, Beck, etc as long as we get an incredible undercard. Really just hoping we get some great stuff that's not on hangout/bonnaroo/jazzfest lineup. There's way too much cheesedik stuff on the lineup already. Hopefully, Paramore is the only act on the lineup that is big enough to play main stage before a headliner so we have two more of those to look forward to that won't be so f'n cheesy. Gonna be pretty weak if Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are another main stage subheadliner though, but they could be our big "rap" act ala Snoop and Nas from 2011 and 2012 respectively.
How was that Black Francis show, Zen Arcade? Really wanted to go to that, but was too pooped after second weekend of Jazzfest.
