The Cure set was the show of the weekend. Easily in my top 5 shows ever. I lost my shiz when they played Burn.
They played Burn!!??????!!! Shit man. That's incredible. I saw the Cure earlier this summer at Osheaga Festival, easily a highlight but....Burn! I had a slight love affair with The Crow and wanted to hear that song, mostly because I thought it'd never happen.
Also, what an incredible Pearl Jam set list! You lucky kids!
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.
Yeah, apparently, that was the first time that they've ever played Burn live too. Extremely satisfied with WSP, PJ, NIN, and Cure setlists. Was so happy NIN played I'm afraid of Americans, Reptile, and All Time Low.
Top 10 sets of Voodoo 2013 1. The Cure 2. Nine Inch Nails 3. The Real Nite Tripper: Dr. John 4. Fleur DeBris 5. Pearl Jam 6. Allen Stone 7. Beats Antique 8. Quintron & Miss Pussycat 9. Cults 10. The Gaslight Anthem
Super mad I didn't know about the free Voodoo Zippo lighters until after the fest was over.

I ended up only catching half of the Cure since my girlfriend wanted to ride the ferris wheel and is not a fan of large crowds. When exiting the ferris wheel she sprained her ankle, then we had to go to the medical tent and killed the rest of the evening.
At least I caught my top 5 favorites, but left right after Lullaby. Burn sounded amazing, I didn't know it was the first time they played it.
Nine Inch Nails and Pearl Jam were both awesome. Aside from that Desaparacidos was my other favorite show.
Some other notes: Festival food was amazing. Drago's $8 grilled oysters are cheaper than the restaurant. We tried walking/public transportation to get to the festival the first day, then just drove and parked the next two days. Not enough streetcars to justify the walk. Ended up getting a bed and breakfast online for $80 a night, when checking out, I was told we paid less than 1/2 the normal rate and they are not using third parties anymore. Never woke up early enough for breakfast though. Halloween in the French Quarter is pretty packed. costumes everywhere and a good time. Spent lots of money on food in Nawlins.
All in all a great weekend, I liked the fact I didn't have too many artists too catch other than the headliners, which allowed for more New Orleans time. There are pluses and minuses to that though. I just made the most of it. Would go back another year.
It can't be prevented... They did have some really great food at the fest. In the LOA area I tried the: Breaux Bridge Benedict Po Boy (House Made Boudin, Smoked Ham, American Cheese, Poached Eggs, and Creole Hollandaise on French Bread) - messy as fvck, but awesome Voodoo Bayou Gumbo ~ Shrimp & Alligator Sausage - pretty good Crawfish Nachos and Vietnamese Pho were all I got from the other places. Both were amazing.
Ate a surf and turf poboy at Parkway on friday. Jesus, that thing was amazing. Can't believe I'd never had one. Ate a "garbage burger" from this truck vendor late nite on frenchman called Chef Steve that was awesome. It was just a big ass burger in french bread and the only condiment on it was his bbq sauce. it was awesome!
I'm glad all you guys had fun. We could hear Bassnectar so clearly on Sunday night from our porch. The talk of the town was complaints from the vocal minority of it being too loud, particularly on Sunday. Oh well. We didn't mind.
I caught some of Desaparecidos. They didn't blow me away though. I missed Reignwolf's festival set, but I caught his late night show. He was f'n awesome. Like a mix of Jack White, Josh Homme, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Neil Young all rolled into one wild white boi.

We had sooo much fun in NoLa!!! Voodoo is now on the official festival list for most of our group!! I think we're going to try to win the same auction in March. Between the location of the condo and the primo public transportation, NO was so easy to navigate. Truly perfect vacation Favorite sets at Voodoo were Pearl Jam, Bassnectar (although I feel like I should have been at the Cure. We were too close to get out after staying at the stage all day, though.) Big G and Robert Delong. Galactic at Civic Center on Halloween was a blast. Didn't get a drop of rain on us! We also caught the Soul Project NOLA at Café Negril on Saturday night and danced until the morning!!! Seriously my favorite act of the weekend. Had amazing food all week long, but Mais Arepas near our condo was ridiculous! Will be going back to NOLA before next Halloween for the roasted corn alone! We asked the people directing us onto busses how to get to Frenchmen St. after the fest, and they called a bus over that took us directly to Frenchmen St. every single night after Voodoo. Bourbon Street was crap, but we were warned! And we all ended up with tattoos from Electric Ladyland before we left. I fell in LOVE with NoLa and can't wait to go back...even if the whole city smells a little like pee

shit, sounds like you and your crew do it correctly. glad you had a blast.
if you dug the night shows during voodoo, consider jazzfest as well. even if you don't care about any of the acts at the fest proper, the night shows are so jam packed full of 'till dawn awesomeness you won't know what to do with yourself.
We had a blast in NOLA and put up a good fight, but there is no questioning that NOLA won the war!! shew, took me a full week to recover from that one.
