Want line-up now, but will probably go ahead and buy tickets at $175 level. Anyone book any rooms yet? Whats a good not above $150 a night option? Not camping since New Orleans at night is the plan. Spent most of my time in the quarter in New Orleans, but can get around. Just want to minimize driving. Thinking arrival on Halloween and head out Monday. May try and hit up the abandoned six flags for urbex pictures Monday before leaving.
I believe all of us going here have places to stay with the exception of canexplain (I think he's camping). I'm kinda out of the loop on hotel prices in nola...haven't booked one there is a couple of years. I use to stay at the Queen and Crescent hotel, but it is not cheap anymore. I guess the renovated it or something because I remember booking rooms there for like $80 a night. Apparently, they jack the room rates up almost double during Voodoo (probably during Jazzfest and Mardi Gras too). O'Keefe Plaza Hotel may be your best bet for under $150 and still within walking distance of quarter.
How in the Quack does somebody book a room at Frenchmen Orleans at 519? That shiz is booked up all the way through November of 2014... Holy sh*t, it would be awesome to stay there Halloween weekend.
I went ahead and bought tickets, too, before the lineup. I'm staying at the Muses, but with two other couples. I have no idea how much it is per night since we won the condo in an auction. After Forecastle and Interlocken, I'll be around this board more often. Too many festivals, not enough board-posting time

Staying in Metarie and will try for a hotwire/priceline deal in the days before Voodoo. I've had success with this twice in the past, getting the Marriott on Canal for $100/night and the Renaissance Arts for $100/night. That's about the best rate you can expect.
Otherwise I'll just drive back and forth from Metry.
Stone Temple Pilots with Chad Bennington in place of Scott Weiland are in Biloxi on November 1st. Think maybe that won't happen for Voodoo since it's so close? I don't really have any interest in that at all.
I noticed that too. Luckily, there's no way they will headline. Those small venues & ticket prices for that tour lead me to believe that they cost about 100-150K. I'm sure they paid way more than that for f'n Paramore. Sunset spot on the main stage if added.
looking at getting tickets. when I look into the option for camping it brings up VIP. is that the only camping there is? otherwise I need to start looking into hotels ASAP

Went ahead and bought my tickets and booked a room. Nine Inch Nails, Pearl Jam and How To Destroy Angels was for too tempting to pass up. Been wanting to checkout voodoo for a while and the headliners beat ACL and and Funfunfunfest.
Also, found a nice bed and breakfast using kayak.com in the garden district for $79 a night with free parking.
Not sure if there are any left at that rate, but that makes expenses so far at $316 for 4 nights and $412 for 2 tickets. Was about to book the Prytania hotel, but this was $40 cheaper with free parking and wi-fi.
Damn. It took forever to go through ACL's massive lineup when it came out. And now I have to go through basically all of that aside from the local stuff to find out what it is.
Glad I didn't buy a ticket already, as I'll be able to scoop one up for cheap with this stinker lineup.
As usual, Voodoo is way more about the gestalt than the lineup, but come the frack on. The Fleur De Bris Superband will be epcot, Longinus and I saw them at Jazzfest this year and it was a definite highlight.
Dr. John doing a Nite Tripper show is very rare and special as well. Seen him like 13 times but never a Nite Tripper show, very stoked.
BILLY SQUIRE lol cheesey FTW Really hoping that NIN closes the fest out so I can skip a night of Voodoo and go rage Panic.

Fleur De Bris could be the show of the weekend, Dr. John will be awesome as well.
Always happy to catch The Revivalists, easily my favorite band out of NOLA right now.
So running down the lineup:
Pearl Jam NIN Calvin Harris Bassnectar Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Afrojack Boys Noize Big G HTDA PHJB Dirty South Beats Antique The Revivalists Fleur De Bris Dr. John Night Tripper Set
There is definitely enough there to keep me occupied for the weekend.
Voodoo has had weak looking lineups the past few years, but the schedules are almost always setup so that I have very few conflicts (except for EDM/rock headliner conflicts), just a straight path of great music all day long.
Also looking forward to the new grounds. I'll definitely miss the old turf, a lot of memories there, but I'm still looking forward to something different.
Yea there are so many bands I have no clue who they are. To the detractors imo: At least the under card ISN'T the same bunch of bands that seem to be on the festy circuit this year ... cr****

I don't think the line-up is terrible by any stretch of the imagination, but is it just me or does the size of the bands seem to drop pretty precipitously after the first couple lines?

Spoken like a real festival veteran. I ALWAYS make at least one great discovery at Voodoo.
I missed Allen Stone at Roo because of Alt-J and Killer Mike, so I'm glad he's here. Had never heard of this Reignwolf dude, but it sounds like he will be pretty good. That band Hockey sounds pretty interesting too. Lots of great nola acts on there though as others have said.
I would like for a couple of bands that really fit in at Voodoo that are available to be added. Black Sabbath or Slayer as the third headliner and Alice Cooper being one of the sub-headliners would be perfect for a Halloween festival.
