I don't think the line-up is terrible by any stretch of the imagination, but is it just me or does the size of the bands seem to drop pretty precipitously after the first couple lines?
Most previous lineups do the same thing.
Fair enough. I haven't really looked at Voodoo ever due to its proximity to Moog/Mtn Oasis.
Blow their f'n load on headliners and UNTZ. Might be a couple more big names besides 3rd headliner.
I think the billing order is kinda deceiving when it comes to some acts too. For instance, The Real Night Tripper set is at the very f'n bottom and I can assure you that was not cheap. They just put it at the bottom because of the length of the description:
The Real Night Tripper: Dr John featuring George Porter, Jr., Herlin Riley, Alfred "Uganda" Roberts, Smokey Johnson, Shane Theriot, Chief Monk Boudreaux, Nicholas Payton, Roderick Paulin, Sarah Morrow, & Topsy Chapman & Solid Harmony)
Some people are thinking those are many acts, but that is just one act.
We have 67 acts total and I imagine about 10-20 more will be added unless the new site layout is restricting that (i.e. taking turns from main stage and untz stage like the way they did years ago with the two main stages).

This is my primary question. I think that they will swap shows like they used to back in the day, and the reason I think this is because of the location of the VIP raised viewing area. Its right smack dab in the middle of the two stages, so if acts were performing simultaneously it would all end up sounding like the Spawn soundtrack.
Kind of an odd choice, as I don't think there is a ton of fan crossover between the EDM and Rock acts. I understand I am the exception, I love both and always hate having to miss EDM acts to catch rock acts.
Yea never done VooDoo so haven't followed it much. Have they ever added on a "big name" this late in the game ? r****
Lenny Kravitz was a late add in 2009. I remember because he bumped Panic out of the Sunday headliner slot. I was not at that Voodoo.
Still we definitely have a third headliner slot just waiting. It must be an artist that hasn't announced their tour yet.
2011 was an anomaly. Speculation says things were screwed up around Rehage due to Rehage's legal issues. Worst lineup release of any festival ever. I find more things to complain about Voodoo than any other festival, but still I go every year and every year it is an outstanding experience. NOLA talent and NOLA itself are definitely the saviors of the festival. With Jazzfest you pretty much have to love New Orleans music to have a blast. At Voodoo you don't have to, but it definitely helps.
Thanks for the info. Looking around this week for a place to lay my pretty head
if you can't find an inexpensive place in the FQ or CBD and are willing to drive a few minutes to the fest, the Sleep Inn in Metry is a clean and affordable alternative.

First, for those not doing Panic, Galactic is playing at the newly opened Civic Theatre the Thursday before Voodoo. Also The Revivalists are playing the Howlin' Wolf.
Second, some dailies for Voodoo, according to jambase and pollstar (take with a grain of salt):
Friday
Desaparecidos Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Talib Kweli* BIG K.R.I.T.* Those Darlins
Saturday
The Revivalists Delta Rae A Silent Films He's My Brother She's My Sister
Sunday
Bassnectar Beats Antique Robert Delong
* - I don't think they are even on the official voodoo lineup yet? adds?
I probably won't make Friday until the headliner, so I'm glad The Revivalists and Bassnectar aren't Friday. Strangely as often as he tours and as often as I go to festivals, I have never seen Bassnectar live.
And The Revivalists destroy live. I like their studio material but live is a completely different animal.

I don't remember them being on the bill. And scanning thru it now I don't see them either.
Pretty good additions if true as the lineup is seriously lacking hip-hop/rap. And leads me to believe the third headliner being a rap headliner like Eminem/Kanye/Jay-Z would be way less likely if BIG K.R.I.T. and Talib Kweli are added. They should have gotten Deltron 3030...playing MOEMS and FFF and we're right in their path between those two fests.

I'm still digging The Cure rumor.
Last year for my tastes Voodoo absolutely nailed the headliners. As far as a classic rock headliner it is impossible to do better than Crazy Horse, Jack White was the relevant and universally adored headliner, and Metallica I just love.
They are on path to nail it again. Pearl Jam/NIN are perfect for my tastes. The Cure would be the perfect addition.
If they get The Cure, I am going to lose my shiz. Depeche Mode or Black Sabbath would be great too, but after streaming The Cure's performance at Lolla...I want them the most. I'm just really not sure that they will shoot for a classic headliner as the third though, we could get something as big as Arcade Fire to increase ticket sales or as small as Vampire Weekend (currently) to make up for losing their donkeys on ticket sales. I just hope it's not the f'n Black Keys of Kings of Leon.

Hell I'd be fine with either Arcade Fire or Vampire Weekend as well. I know my wife would crap herself if it was Arcade Fire... but both of us would prefer The Cure. I'm actually watching The Cure Lollapalooza set right now. Really really good.
Depeche Mode is one of my all time favorite bands and I would love to see them again, but still... The Cure is what New Orleans needs.
Or they could just say quack it and get MMJ again. I wouldn't complain. Or they could get a well-known southern rock band (with segues) to close out Sunday. They are already in town after all.
EDIT: More Revivalists Gulf Coast news, just saw they are playing Vinyl the 27th and 28th. I'll do both to make up for the fact that I'm probably not catching a big NYE show this year.

They'd sell a shizload of extra single day sunday tickets if that were the case. Assuming third headliner is for sure closing her out which I think is the case. Considering they got bumped down from headlining last time, it seems very plausible...especially if negotiations with whoever voodoo originally wanted fell through and they are having trouble landing their other choices. Could just be that they're waiting on tickets to go on sale for their other shows first. Which means we could get the f'n schedule before they announce them.
Sure wouldn't mind that Noam Pickelny/Bryan Sutton/Luke Bulla/Barry Bales/Jesse Cobb tour getting added to the Preservation Hall stage since they'll be passing right through town that weekend for a Baton Rouge show on Monday.

Vacation time approved, credentials purchased, room booked through AirBnB. Looks like I'm officially going to Voodoo fest! Now I just have to find a flight that isn't crazy expensive...
