For those of you who have been to this, I have 2 questions- 1. Is there free water available, like at 'Roo? And 2. How are the food prices? I find Bonnaroo's prices to be pretty reasonable...are they comparable?
Free water (in the form of water fountains where you can refill whatever) WAS close to the entrance of the festival after passing through wristband check on the right side, but it may be somewhere else this year since it's in a new location/orientation of city park. Just ask someone where the free water is or a water fountain is when you get in. Food prices are cheap and they seriously gave us many more options last year. It was almost comparable to Jazzfest in terms of all the options in that it had maybe half of the amount of options at Jazzfest including many popular cajun dishes. And that is pretty impressive in comparison to previous years. Most food is in the $5-10 range. VIP had a few extra vendors in their area that were absolutely fabulous. I pretty much spent 75% of my food budget at one vendor in VIP last year. They had this boudin cordon bleu that I had to get one of every gotdamn day it was so good. I'm sure they will have just as an impressive vendor list this year, if not better.

prices are decent, as longinus said, but I disagree with him that the quality approaches jazzfest. jazzfest food crushes all other festival food. in fact its pretty much my favorite food to get anywhere, at anytime, period. Voodoo food is good, definitely better than your average festival, but nothing at voodoo can approach trout baquet or cochon de lait po boys, just to name a couple jazzfest options.
EDIT: I just noticed longinus was comparing options of voodoo food to options at jazzfest, not overall quality. I agree there are a lot of options at voodoo.
The VIP food was pretty dope last year, I ate exclusively at that vendor.
cannot express how excited I am about The Cure. props to my man who dropped that rumor on us a few weeks back. I think this is the most pumped I've been for headliners at a festival ever.
So how will it work out? I'm thinking Pearl Jam on Friday, NIN Saturday, and The Cure Sunday. Raw Angst > Dark Anger > Sadness.
i need to get some dinner. publix sushi? it might happen.

I didn't mean that the quality was as good as Jazzfest (with the exception of that boudin cordon bleu in VIP...that stuff was amazing!) The number of options was about half of what Jazzfest has though. Voodoo probably had like 40 vendors last year. I didn't count and try much besides the VIP vendor stuff though.

I think that's how it will go. My only worry is that HtDA will conflict with The Cure. I won't mind HtDA conflicting with Pearl Jam because I've seen PJ twice and can stomach missing half of their set or more.
suwanneehulaween.com/ ^doesn't specify here. only that they were added. I guess it is possible that they could play there friday and play a late night show in nola saturday. where did you see a specific 11/1 announcement?

Well I would love Conspirator somewhere in New Orleans that weekend. I usually don't have the energy to do Voodoo night shows, so my preference would be at the festival, especially since the lite undercard probably wouldn't cause many conflicts.
BTW after The Cure were announced my wife pushed for VIP tickets. Three headliners we adore makes being up close worth the cost, so I pulled the trigger. Really excited to see how the new LOA area is, and I hope the cargo containers provide viewing for the EDM stage as well, which is how it looks judging by the map on the website.
EDIT: Its been a while since I looked at the map. It appears the EDM stage is firing away from the cargo containers now. My second wish is that they provide a larger VIP viewing area for the EDM stage. Last year it was a clusterquack for any of the bigger acts.
This also means that the EDM acts and rock acts will probably go simultaneously. Which means Bassnectar will probably conflict with The Cure Sunday. Which means I will again fail to see Bassnectar.

Well shit I also just saw the dailies will be out September 5th, per the web site. It says "daily schedule", I'm assuming this is just what bands are playing what day (dailies) not the stage time schedule. Pretty cool though, once we see the names its pretty easy to guess what the major conflicts will be.
Yeah, I almost didn't get VIP during the holiday sale due to the price increase, but I'm glad I did now. This is the best 3 headliners Voodoo has ever had for my money. Good catch on the map. They totally swapped the location of Le Plur stage. This is a good thing IMO. Crowd segregation. It would have been a major clusterfuck the way they had it before.
Sure wouldn't mind that Noam Pickelny/Bryan Sutton/Luke Bulla/Barry Bales/Jesse Cobb tour getting added to the Preservation Hall stage since they'll be passing right through town that weekend for a Baton Rouge show on Monday.
Well damn. They'll be playing the Joy Theater early Sunday evening.
I think it's going to be Pearl Jam friday, NIN saturday, and The Cure sunday. But some think that Pearl Jam is saturday simply because the top billed act normally plays on saturday of Voodoo. Pearl Jam's website says 11/1 as the date they play and they have no show on halloween after their 11/30 Charlotte date. NIN is playing Orlando on Halloween and that is quite a haul to nola considering their production is the most demanding of the three headliners. Of course, the HtDA stuff could be ready in nola on friday, and Trent could just fly from Orlando to Nola after Halloween show for HtDA set on friday or they could save that for Sunday. Hoping it's friday though because I am going to be pissed if The Cure conflicts with HtDA.

I really want to see The Cure and would rather not take Monday off from work. I really wish they would add some dates around that show. Atlanta would work just fine.
Gurl, I know dats right. We will know for sure Sept 5th when they release the daily schedule. Many people are hoping for tour dates from The Cure, but it may not happen until next year when their new album drops so don't hold your breath for this fall/winter. To me, It looks like they're only doing fests until 2014 to me.

Another festival map thought: the stage across the grounds from the main stage looks like the second biggest stage on the grounds. I'm wondering if this is the EDM stage instead of the other stage closer to the main stage, which looks much bigger? Would serve to push the louder EDM beats further away from the other stages to avoid sound bleed.
more likely its probably just the stage where Tomahawk played last year, but at least going by the map it looks like a pretty large stage.
Other than Le Carnival getting some soundbleed from Le Plur unless two alternate sets times, but you'd have to be far back at Le Carnival for it to be an annoying issue.
My first show there will be in October for Tedeschi-Trucks. Missed seeing Chucho Valdes there last year for free, but they haven't really had any gets otherwise.
hetti hetti joy joy still haven't been to joy theatre since renovation how is it?
Went for the PHJB revue show jazzfest before last. Its a great little theatre, I think STS9 will be great in there. GA floor, seated balcony. Stage is close so even the balcony seats are great.
I've never successfully made a Voodoo late show, would love to make this happen. I'll be working that day and driving to NOLA to catch Pearl Jam (still assuming they are playing Friday) that night, so I'll be tired, but not raged City Park since noon tired.
In other news, dailies out tomorrow. Just checked pollstar and jambase, nothing has changed there.
