I'm just so excited right now. I've never had the opportunity to see Cale perform. He did a string of dates in Europe performing Paris, 1919, and I salivated. If you're gonna get a Velvet, John's the way to go, now-a-days.

I want to say he also did a number of shows here on the west coast with Cass McCombs where he was playing Paris 1919. If he could do that at this show... oh god, I could die happy.
Paris 1919 is the only solo work of Cale's I'm familiar worth. Anyone have any recommendations as to some other solo work of his check out? (*aside from that really shitty EP he put out a year or two ago)

Personally, I point people in the direction of that record and Fear, when trying to get into Cale.
"Later this week, we'll be announcing a series of club shows we've scheduled for across the region—Chapel Hill, Winston-Salem, Wilmington, Asheville, Charlotte and Richmond. Enjoy!"

I've stayed at the Days Inn the past two years. It's worth the $60 or whatever it costs. Definitely walkable, although far enough that you wouldn't really want to go back between sets. It's no crummier than Downtown Inn, although the coffee maker, ice maker, and vending machine were broken last year. I had to drink my Grand-dad Bonded 100 neat during the Saturday rainstorm.
