I saw Jeff at one of his charity Vic shows a few years ago in Chicago. He mentioned during the show that he went down south and recorded a version of Casino Queen with Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, but Billy had a problem with the line "the wife that I just met, she's looking like a wreck." He also mentioned that he couldn't really go into details legally. Didn't sound like a very confortable collaboration but maybe I just read into that. A Billy sit-in for Casino Queen would be awesome!
I saw the 09 show at bonnaroo. It was a chill mellow show if memory serves. I think an epic 3 1/2 hour late nite show would be awesome. I am getting more excited about them reading this thread. I am not looking forward to another potential conflict. Especially since I have seen them before, it would be tough to see them again over someone I have never seen and want to see. As cool as bonnaroo is the conflicts suck butts.
I've always absolutely loved this version of the song:
Agreed it's fantastic. I've been listening to Wilco non-stop for about 6 months and Bonnaroo will be my first time seeing them. It's the show I'm looking forward to the most besides that Beatles guy that's playing or whatever.

After playing the fuck out of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, Summerteeth, and Kicking Television, I'm now moving on to A Ghost is Born. The familiar songs from the live album are recorded exactly as I hoped they would be. I fucking love this band, easly the best thing Bonnaroo has opened my eyes to in the 3 years of discovering the line up.

A Ghost is Born, is a fantastic album. It's so different from YHF that it's hard to say one is better than the other. Those two are always playing around my house. YHF is more about layers and space, where AGIB is a little more experimental rock.
Enjoy the listen. It will reward you with something new each and every time.

Tweedy plays lead guitar on A Ghost is Born and here's some interesting info about that:
The album was produced by Jim O'Rourke, who mixed Foxtrot and was a member of Wilco side project Loose Fur. O'Rourke encouraged lead singer Jeff Tweedy to develop his guitar skills for the album; Tweedy recently became the lead guitarist for the band due to the dismissal of Jay Bennett after the Yankee Hotel Foxtrot recording sessions. Tweedy sought to play solos on the album that were unlike those of jam bands such as Phish and The Grateful Dead. Instead, he performed composed solos influenced by Television such as the one during the coda of "At Least That's What You Said". Tweedy refers to the guitar solo at the end of the track as a "musical transcription" of one of his panic attacks
I saw them a number of times between Summerteeth and Sky Blue Sky, felt like I had over did it with Wilco at that point, and have since laid off of them live. Since the line-up drop I have gotten pretty excited to see them again though.
Reading through this thread, I agree that a LN set would be what I most hope for but I see them getting another pre headline slot this year

I wouldnt be too devastated if that heppened. Wilco > Mumford would be pretty awesome!

Was in the pit for this. Thought it was a great set. Nothing mindblowing, besides Nels' guitar playing (as usual) but a solid set overall. Liked the Calexico collaboration.

Also picked up this poster:
I got the same poster.(Thanks Whore) And we got a cubic-shiz ton at Solid Sound. Like enough to wallpaper a room
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
The poster is bad a$$ even tho I didn't enjoy the set.
Are you a Wilco fan who didn't like the set or did you to see them for the first time and left disappointed?
I'm a huge Wilco fan and thought they played a good set but it was nothing mindblowing or extraordinary. Definitely wasn't one of the best sets of theirs I've seen live.

I was in the pit also. The set was great but holy shit you are right. Nels and that guitar is truly amazing.

I think mine was all positioning. We took the sound for granted at What. Should of been in the pit but we were WAY back and the sound was so low it was hard to get me dancing to. Im not a die-hard Wilco fan but I enjoy their music. This was also the first set of theirs i've ever seen.
