I had been waiting years to catch Wilco for the first time. I thought the setlist was incredible and was thoroughly pleased overall. However, I did wonder 'WTF?' during those had those maybe 10 second long chaotic freakouts during Via Chicago -- I'm 95% sure those were during Via Chicago.
Are you a Wilco fan who didn't like the set or did you to see them for the first time and left disappointed?
I'm a huge Wilco fan and thought they played a good set but it was nothing mindblowing or extraordinary. Definitely wasn't one of the best sets of theirs I've seen live.
I think mine was all positioning. We took the sound for granted at What. Should of been in the pit but we were WAY back and the sound was so low it was hard to get me dancing to. Im not a die-hard Wilco fan but I enjoy their music. This was also the first set of theirs i've ever seen.
Yea, location can be a killer. I was disappointed that I didn't find a good spot for McCartney and tried to stay closer to the back to easily exit and get to the rap Superjam but it was a big regret of mine. I could hear most of the songs well but the banter and acoustic songs were barely audible where I was. I tried to move closer but it was so damn packed and I didn't feel like pushing through the crowd.
Wilco can be great. I would suggest catching a headlining show of theirs nearby if you can. That would likely be a better way to see them.
