I'm thinking hall of fame has something to do with it. But I was thinking it was 20 years after first album making a band eligible. Turns out its 25, taking my guess of pearl jam out of the picture.
11 months wait - "11". The first rejected -One from 11 = Ten= PJ first album. Ten is now 21 years old, 1st rejected meaning they're first chance to be inducted was rejected.
But, after all that reasoning, I find out its 25 years... Balls!
Going off the Grammy idea, Mumford & Sons' first album was released in the US just days after the 2010 Grammys, THEN was nominated for two awards the following year, only to lose both of them (the first rejected)

Might not be EXACTLY 11 months but I think this checks out. I'd put down Mumford as the top candidate for now.
his mbdtf album was released in November and since he waited too long to release it, it wasn't eligible for the grammy's that year. the next year it was eligible but since he released watch the thrown too, mbdtf (the first) was snubbed (rejected). rejected could also refer to his '08 roo show.
Oh I figured it out, it's the Rolling Stones. We waited eleven months for Coachella's lineup to drop and The Rolling Stones were the first band to publicly deny they were playing the festival. SOLVED.
Eleven Months Wait For Entry To The Prestige The First Rejected
Ok so my thoughts were .....Here We go Magic 11 months wait (a band that played at roo last year) for entry to the prestige(The prestige being a reference to magic) the first rejected (this one has me, not sure) But with the first to I think it could be
Eh. I know we've been down this road of no big acts get clues, but between it being at Red Rocks and the Road to Red Rocks release, and the whole story of Babel/Babylon and religious prestige/entry into heaven in that story, and Sigh No More being rejected at the Grammys based on when it came out and having a huge presence at this Grammys 11 months later....still kind of thinking Mumford. But I'm not a pro at this stuff and I know the bigger bands don't tend to get clues.
11 months wait - you'd be in the month of December if you waited 11 months (since November would be over) For entry to the prestige - The track "Down by the Water" was nominated for Best Rock Song at the 54th Grammy Awards but lost to "Walk" by Foo Fighters. The first rejected - their first (and only so far) song nomination was rejected
The King is Dead was release on Jan 14th, and the Grammy nomination window is like Oct of two years prior, to Sep of one year prior. Not 11 months wait, but still towards the beginning of the nomination window.
edit - This would also fit the theme of line #1 being some sort of play on the band's name, and lines #2-3 being some sort of trivia. They just did a really good job of making them blend this time. Commence the flame war.
It is probably just because I wanted it to be them: Rolling Stones-
Eleven months wait: December's Children (Stone's Album)
For entry into the prestige: Heaven (Stone's Song)
The first rejected: from the Bible- "The stone the builders rejected has now be come the conerstone" The conerstone is laid first- hence The first rejected.
Its a stretch and I doubt the do the headliners w/ the haikus, but that is my 10 cents!
volta released the first single off of the new album 11 months ago (the malkin jewel). malkin was the name of the family that owned the empire state building (prestige). cedric wanted to tour the album and was rejected. at the drive in got back together around 11 months ago... I'm just holding on to hope at this point.

I like to think only the headliners would be off-limits. Mumford are one of the biggest bands in the world right now but I still don't think they'd be a headliner this year, probably a "line 2" artist on the lineup bill. Can't really rule them out especially considering how well the haiku corresponds to their debut album.
Also. It's not "11 months' wait." Why are the 11 months waiting, and which would be the first to get rejected?
This is how I read it at first, but I'm kinda just falling in line with the Mumford idea. Looking at the clue this way would imply January (the first month) was rejected, but that doesn't go anywhere as far as I can tell.
the decemberists are on a multi year hiatus. i think its safe to say they're ruled out
Three year hiatus starting in mid-2011, so by the time Roo comes around it will be 2-2.5 years. I wouldn't rule them out for a festival show. They could also showcase some of their sideprojects on smaller stages.

Hmm...as much as it sounds like the three lines go together, I think there must be some double meanings happening here. If you just take them all together, there's not enough to go on, in my mind. Not when the other clues have all seemed to be three separate "hints" strung together.
And if we're going to look for an extra bit of meaning somewhere, I would bet "prestige" is one of the significant words. I'm thinking we need someone who fits the more straightforward interpretation of the three lines put together but who also has a separate tie to the word "prestige" (and/or to some other aspect of the clue).
On a completely unrelated note, this clue makes me ESPECIALLY glad that nobody can guess Radiohead this year!

Prestige is also a jazz record label. Could it be an older jazz performer who jumped over to that label? Or signed with them after being rejected somewhere else?

I agree.
I'm going to go ahead and get this out of the way. Yes, David Bowie was in the movie The Prestige. NO, the answer isn't Bowie. Carry on.
