Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Due to me being exceedingly broke this year, I put in an application to volunteer at Hulaween a while back and forgot about it. Well, I just got an email confirming that I got a spot - in VIP.
Couple questions about this, as I have never done it before - hoping to hear from someone who has volunteered at SOSMP. 1) does mean I will get a VIP bracelet? 2) says I have to work 15 hours. How do they select shifts? I would hate to be working during the good part of the night both Friday and Saturday.
I remember this time last year thinking, "Bonnaroo...that sounds KINDA cool. Probably not though." Then later, "Volunteering? Pssht! I've got money. Why would I work?" One year later, I'm already clearing my schedule to get out there and volunteer again. I've never been happier to be wrong.
Bumping this thread as we should be getting details next month about volunteering for Bonnaroo 2015. If you are interested in volunteering, please join the Bonnaroo Volunteers Facebook Group to ask questions about the application process and the pros/cons. It is perfect for anyone going to Bonnaroo solo or looking to save money and have a great time on the Farm.

I have done toll booths the last two years and have had a fun time with it. Not sure if I am going back to the farm this year but if I do I would not mind doing toll booths again. I enjoy talking to people as they come in.
I also did tollbooths. Signed up for it so I could do the 12-hour shift but I really enjoyed the job. Last year was my first Roo and getting to talk to people and pump them up and feel their excitement got me even more excited to be there. My 6-hour shift Saturday morning at VIP was a little boring as not many people were coming in but I didn't mind it too much and I didn't miss any acts I wanted to see all weekend so I'm probably doing that again this year

Happy new year everybody. Feel Good Foods is now opening up their volunteer recruitment for catering and concessions for Bonnaroo 2015. We have many positions available at the moment from experienced food service people to pre-show construction, to post-show clean up. Feel Good Foods' volunteers are obligated to 24 hours of volunteer time in exchange for a ticket, camping access, and meals the entire time you are there. Yes, meals the entire time you are there. Unlike normal festival volunteering where you get a meal for each shift, we will feed you through our concession kitchens whenever you want. If you are working in catering, you can also eat there during your shifts. We do require a deposit that will be returned to you in cash after the event to secure your spot. Please follow the link to our application. www.feelgoodfoodswnc.com/Page_19.html When you get there, click on volunteer applications. It should direct you to "2014 Application". Sorry, I have been too busy to update the year on it. Hopefully soon. BTW - The link does not work on most mobile browsers. Either switch to classic mode or open it up with something besides your phone. We are going to be collecting applications for a couple weeks before getting back to people. We do recruit in the order that the applications come in though. Thank you so much for your consideration and we hope to see you at the farm.
Bumping this thread.....applications should be going up for returning volunteers later this month! Applications for new volunteers will be available roughly a week later.
Returning volunteers have gotten an email today from the C'roo organizers! YAY!!
Returning volunteers can apply starting at noon (eastern) on Friday, February 20th. These are password protected depending on if you want to do pre-show or during-show. New volunteers can apply on Monday, March 2nd.
Festival C'roos and their descriptions have been changed a bit, so we'll post those when they update the volunteer page. There are *ONLY* 175 pre-show positions, so apply asap and be able to pay after your application gets accepted. Do not apply if you can't pay early.
Again, please join our Facebook group if you have Facebook and haven't already joined. You'll get faster information and easier access to important links/info, etc on there: www.facebook.com/groups/581925741840980

Yo I read somewhere one time that Guroos can bring in during show volunteers when they arrive Sunday. Is this still true? Would make things a lot simpler. (Oh yeah. I'm applying for a Guroo position!)

That was true last year, but not this year. In the email for returning GurRoos it specifically said that during show volunteers will NOT be allowed to enter with you on Sunday. You could always ask Grace about it when you do your phone interview though?

Ooh bummer. I'll definitely ask about it though. Thanks!
Also, do guroos get to choose which croo they help with or which shifts they work or is it randomly assigned?
I was wondering the same. Occasionally, it's the "only way" some during show folks can come in and they say no so a ton of during show volunteers don't end up coming early, but they may let it slide when you're there in person. *shrug* I can figure out a plan either way for my friend. Honestly, he might be a little bored during the day if most people are off doing long shifts. I try to expand my caravan each year, so I'm hoping I can find him a more reasonable ride on Monday or something to be there for Tuesday check-in.
Also, a reminder that we have a Google Spreadsheet to help organize rides and whatnot (once you know your C'roo). That may help. Message me with your Google email if you want access to that (if you didn't get access in the past few years).
I'm applying as a first-time GuRoo too. We sign up for interviews next week. I'll write down a few questions to get answers to.

The picking your own shift part of GuRoo is nice, but way over rated. It is a giant clusterfuck. The good shifts (the ones where you miss little to no music)are gone in seriously like 3 minutes. I think it would be way better if they just assigned us shifts. Or at least made it so you have to take at least one 2-9pm shift on Thursday-Sunday.. but whatever.. overall it is great. I'll be doing GuRoo every year as long as they and my employer will allow it. If you are working in Centeroo it is really easy to catch some of a set you wanted to see but had to work during.. so it could be a lot worse!

Yeah. Maybe it'll be easier with the new scheduling website, but I assume it'll still be first-come, first-serve with shifts. Gotta be ready right before it opens up and jump on the good ones.

Which was no problem when I was 23 and had no job... now I'm 33 and it isn't so easy to make sure im on a computer at EXACTLY 11 am on a Tuesday or something. I ended up lucking out last year when they made people drop extra shifts I happened to be on at the time and picked up a few good ones. Like I said overall I have no complaints. You miss some music but I thought it was worth it.

I've been to the farm three times and this is my first time volunteering. I applied, paid my deposit, and got put onto the tollbooth crew (exactly what I wanted) within two hours of submitting my application. I recommend everyone who is interested in volunteering to submit their application now!
We're the Volunteers of America! Hi guys- going to my first Bonnaroo and will be volunteering 'cause I'm broke...
I volunteered for Access and was accepted within two days! That was quick. Maybe they'll let me drive golf carts around--ZOOOOOOM!!!!! (or maybe not, if they see this post..)
Speaking of volunteering, since some people don't use Facebook to see our group updates, I wanted to let people know there aren't many Festival C'roos left (but there's also Clean Vibes positions)
[UPDATED: 3/24/15 12:40pm Eastern] C'roos currently available: - Access - Info/PODs - Toll Booths West/Highway - returning GuRoos - Clean Vibes During Show Clean-up (24 spots left) - Clean Vibes During Show Compost Sorter (20 spots) - Clean Vibes During Show Table Busser (65 spots) - Clean Vibes During Show Trash Talker (233 spots) - Clean Vibes Post Event Clean-up (285 spots)
** The following positions are FULL (not recommended to list on a new app): - Catering and Hospitality - Check-in - Cinema Tent - Comedy Tent - Festival Activities - Logistics and Setup - Partner Activities - Support - Toll Booths East/VIP - ALL pre-show, including Visual Design and Decor (a pre-show only C'roo) - new GuRoo (first-time applicants)
I'm surprised Access didn't fill up quickly--I can't imagine anything more rewarding than helping differently-abled people be able to enjoy Bonnaroo. I've helped in Access at other music fests, and while the music is great, my most lasting memories are the people I've met that wouldn't be able to go without some help...remember, "we get by with a little help from our friends"!

Me too, but according to 1 of the organizers, Grace, Access is one of the largest C'roos. I hear great things about the Access folks.
