I thought they were a virtual lock for a late night tent show this year, after the parade a couple years ago. Oh well, maybe they will be a part of something special during the late nights again. Don't want to get my hopes up, though.
I liked "Evil Friends," but I didn't think it lived up to previous releases. I do like "Purple, Yellow, Red and Blue." This album seems to have more of an electronic feel, based on the first two songs released.

In 2010 I saw PTM in Tampa then two days later in Saint Augustine for Harvest of Hope fest. At the Tampa show was awesome and was having a great time. At the end of the set John was walking through the crowd and a small line formed and people were getting autographs. I jumped in line just because I wanted to talk to him briefly and shake his hand because I think autographs are pretty redundant. Well I was pretty drunk (pretty important to note) at the end of the show and while in line I was thinking how stupid it was for people getting their shirts signed. So I get up to John and I ask him to sign my boob (im a guy btw). He just kinda laughs. Then I pull up my shirt. He was really surprised that I was seriously going through with it. He asks me what he should write and I tell him to do whatever he wants. So since i asked him to sign my boob he did exactly that... with a sharpie he draws a boob around my nipple then signs John Gourley near the top of that. It was awesome! I saw John two days after that in the crowd at Harvest of Hope and I run up to him. He remembered me for sure and even chatted with me for a few minutes. Really nice cool laid back guy.
PTM puts on the best live shows I have ever seen. Looking forward to seeing them for the 5th time on the farm. Fortunately the sharpie tattoo washed of my chest!
^ Yes! And I am very happy now. It clears up previous schedule conflict with Death Grips so I get to see them both now. Come up and get me!
This was my only real conflict this year, so seeing PTM get moved later made Roo 1000x better already. Can't wait for both shows!
Then after PTM is Dirty Projectors followed by Beach House. Saturday is going to be awesome! Well I guess Thursday,Friday, and Sunday are going to be awesome as well. UGGHHHH! Im getting all giddy. Is it time to go to the farm yet???

Even for bands that play right before the headliner on What, when I've tried, I've been able to just walk up as soon as the band starts playing and get into the pit.

I've usually been able to get there like 30-45 minutes in advance for the non-headliners that perform during the day and make it up to the pit. I know for a fact that I only made it to Damian Marley with Nas about 30 minutes before the show a couple of years ago and was easily able to walk way up close to the stage.
They played a free "acoustic" show last night here in Albany for probably 150 people (16 of which were in my posse). You could only get in by winning on the radio. We only got 8 songs and a Q&A portion but it was a blast. They played 4 new songs which sounded great and gave some really funny answers in the Q&A. They also hung around at the bar for a solid two hours and were super cool to the fans, telling tour stories and even telling some of my friends that they could get into any Portugal show in the future if they found the members on fb. I've seen them 5 times now and they never get old for me. I will see y'all in the pit for this at Roo!
(Oh a couple people mentioned Roo last night and the band got very excited about it. Didn't get a chance to ask them about this year directly though in regards to any secret sets)
Live in studio stream. It's already 15 minutes in. They played "Creep In A T-Shirt" off the new album.
Also, Gourley has a different speaking voice than I imagined.
Edit: Evil Friends was originally going to be self produced by the band, but their label put them in contact within Danger Mouse about a week into the recording process. From what Gorley said, both them and Danger Mouse went into talks about them working together reluctantly with them stating they wanted to be in charge of their own album as originally agreed and him not being interested in adding more work to his schedule.
Gorley talked about how Danger Mouse gets blame/credit for affecting the albums he produces than he actually does.
Second set will be "Modern Jesus", "Purple, Yellow, Red and Blue" and "Atomic Man"
Edit x2: They spoke about the filming of the video for "Atomic Man". It took about 5-6k individual pictures to make the video.

Yea, there was some intereview recently where I think they said they started fresh when it was decided they'd be working with Danger Mouse. I'm really looking forward to this set. Still pissed about missing the parade they did.
