27 hour bus trip with 8 hour layovers on megabus, then switch to greyhound, then walk the 4-5 miles from the station to the gate, then a half mile to TO. Yeah, thats a bit of a trek.

You aren't joking. I hope you are arriving in the evening for that walk from the bus station to the gate.
Sorry, but I like the idea of having some sort of "I hoofed it to Bonnaroo" VIP. Feels like I'm earning something for doing whatever it takes to be on the farm this year.
I don't disagree with you; I think a special spot for people hiking in is a great idea, but I don't think taking TO away from people who were expecting to be able to use it to give it to the hoofers is fair, especially since they waited until people had already made plans AND groop is sold out. It just screws up a lot of people's plans. I think Camp Inforoo and probably some other groups would've bought a groop camping spot if we'd known we wouldn't be able to utilize Tent Only.
The policy is a bummer, but the timing of it totally STINKS.

Okay I got some response to him on Twitter I basically told him as a long standing board member that we hated the new policy and asked him to please change it his response was WHY? I take it for what it is an opening you can follow me or him I am @ Auxximenes on there and maybe we can blow up the conversation and jam his newsfeed every time he opens his account. Then maybe we can negotiate something or at least post pone this for another year until it can really be looked into. So follow me join the conversation and expand upon it since there are replies and such now I guess everytime we talk about it he will have to see it if we could just get 200-300 people to do it that shoudl be enough and we have far more members then that on here.

I just responded to Ashley's tweet and encourage others to voice their opinions. Be respectful but definitely let your complaints come out. This situation is frustrating.

I can appreciate the fact that they are buckling down on security after the Boston Marathon but I'm not sure why they aim to target the tent-only area. If they would really like to be thorough and secure, it should start with the main entrances and tollbooths. I absolutely hate to admit this but those that truly want to do harm will look for loopholes in the system.
I don't know if there were any additional security measures after 9/11 but I think this approach should be re-strategized.

I really don't think this is in response to the Boston Marathon. They wouldn't completely change everything they do for Tent-Only in a couple of days. This may have been in the works for a while and may be part of the tradition of them shrinking Tent Only.

The terrorists win if this policy goes on to stand.
Response to the Boston marathon bombing would be things like increased security, more thorough car checks, bomb sniffing dogs, more ATF. Usually (like we can see from the Jazz music festival coming up) they do this via "shock and awe" style of show of force. I really doubt this has anything to do with these types of policies. Seems much more probable this is just an extension of years and years of shrinking tent only camping.
I was just theorizing since it came days after Boston instead of a more timely manner
I think the timing has more to do with the Groop Camping deadline as opposed to the Boston Marathon bombings. But I know as much as you do and I'm just speculating/theorizing myself.
I really don't understand how this could be in reaction to the Boston Marathon, what would this help? Cars get abandoned for the weekend all the time, it doesn't necessarily mean that those people are in TO. Lots of people park, then head over to a friends campsite. And how would a car parked somewhere be any more of a security threat then any other car? Unless they completely gutted every single car coming through, what would stop someone from bringing something dangerous in in their car, then heading off to Centeroo or anywhere else when it was time for the destruction? I don't know what I'm missing, but claiming this is a security measure doesn't add up to me at all.

I don't think it will help, I think it is a PR reaction to cover their a$$. There's a lot of increased security in major cities around the US, and to "soft targets" aka outdoor festivals and sporting events. It would look really bad if AC doesn't respond at all.

Can you tell me how to "jam his newsfeed?" I'm all for it but not sure how to go about it. Do we email him messages or post to his wall? I can see that we can affect a change if we are vocal enough right away, perhaps a delay in policy until next year since it adversely effects so many this year. WHAT CAN I PERSONALLY DO AND WHERE SHOULD I BE DOING IT TO MAKE THE MOST IMPACT?
I don't know what carries less logic: thinking this is somehow a security response to the Boston Marathon bombing, or people spending this much time trying to find a reason for what is merely the latest oddly thought out decision by the Bonnaroo folks. Haven't we all learned yet that this is a group that loves fixing what isn't broken?
I don't know if I'd say this is an oddly thought out decision. I still feel this is their way of phasing out Tent Only and forcing more people into Groop Camping for some extra revenue. I wouldn't be surprised if they use increased security measures as the cover/reason for it though. I bet this was something that was in the works for next year, but got fast tracked for this year when they saw they had a "reason" to. Hoping I'm wrong, but that's what it feels like to me. Quite disappointing to say the least.

That is hysterical. I've seen the Shaq picture before but never side by side with our family pictures - so had no idea it was the same place. Nice find - they'll get a kick out of that.
Who thought this up. Even if I changed my plans to fly in, since T.O is expected to fill up Wednesday, I may not get a spot. This just doesn't make any sense. Plus it won't be as fun without everyone there.
There are multiple places on the site where it mentions that a ticket includes camping and parking. The new tent only policy indicates that you will not be allowed to make use of the parking. Does this mean that those individuals that are able to walk in and use TO should get a reduced rate? It would seem that if the ticket that was purchased included parking that there should be a parking area set up for those utilizing TO.
