What I'm wondering is since TO people can't come in a car. How do they wait in the few hour line on the highway? Or do they walk by all the cars and straight up to "designated" toll booth?

When I walked in one year we just walked past the cars. I'd imagine it will be the same now especially since they have a designated toll booth for people who walk in.

You can have someone drop you off near the gate and walk from there. No waiting in line.
Realistically, how will they know if you arrived on foot. It says nothing about a special wristband.
They cannot tow every car that doesn't have a person at it. Or even if it has no tent as I have never pitched a tent in my site and sleep in my hammock or truck.
This looks like typical corporate BS which has no effect except to anger its customers.
just tweeted this to AC: people who DRIVE to roo can't walk onto the farm- the new tent only policy is unnecessarily punitive. change it back.#Bonnaroo
edit: trying to help with the effort to be heard... not trying to say that I think my one little tweet will change the world. but hey.
how could they possibly enforce this? Are they planning to move people's car/tents out of the way to tow a car? What about people that leave their car to camp at their friend's spot?
That's what those fancy rfid armbands are for. They'll scan you when you enter with a car. If they ask you before entering to, well.....

I would love video monitors on the tents. I'm not so disappointed about where I'm camping but I am going to be super disappointed if Camp Inforoo Brunch can't happen this year since we are all spread out in different spots. I had to miss most of brunch last year cuz of media stuff and was really looking forward to this year's.

RFID in your wrist band. You are processed at the entrance, so if you walk in, they'll allow you in TO. If you drive in, they won't let you in. Also quite possibly quarantine at the car camp area could help.
I think this would be a good idea if they allowed you to drive in, then leave in the car to park off site. Then you aren't using the extra space of the car, and you can drive your stuff in.
Still, a pain to be sure. I'll just camp at the truck

My first thought of a work around would be to have someone dropped off at the west gate walking, drive in, then walk over to TO with the camp stuff. Set up a cheap ez up at you vehicle and abandon it. Tell the neighbors the can use it.

For this long time Rooster, it's just another reason to reconsider Roo, even though I live only 30 miles away. Why pay $300+ to spend 4 days trying to conform to a bunch of rules? (ie register wristband, apply when/where told, camp when/where told, bring lots for a brunch that may not happen, police everywhere, long lines a Centeroo, over-crowded stages, etc. And last Roo I was searched for over an hour at the entrance and hassled when I tried to wash at the troughs)
I know I sound like an old nostalgic troll but this is nothing like the original Roos. There are way too many cheaper Fests these days to put up with unnecessary hassles.
Still undecided about this year as I love my InfoRoosters but Roo seems to be pushing me to find another home. Sad.

This is fucked on so many levels as people have pointed out. By now the vast majority of people who were planning on TO had locked in those plans, including myself. Plans destroyed, and if they carry out this policy I honestly don't see anyway to make it work. Like people are saying the group option is sold out, so that saving throw comes up short. Everyone I was expecting to meet is showing at various times on Thursday, I was the Wed night scout.
Why the hell would anyone in a vehicle show up on Wed now? You are guaranteed to get parked in a BFE pod. The beauty of TO was that I only needed to carry a few bottles of water in. Now I'll have to pack in for the whole day carrying around an extra 20-30 lbs of water and supplies. That'll be fun in the sun. Not miserable at all.
I was REALLY looking forward to brunch and meeting allot more of y'all folks, planned on bringing an olive and pepper spread with toasted ciabatta squares that I'm quite proud of. As it stands that's unlikely now. I was also really looking forward to meeting back up with those of you I met last year.
Then there is the danger this posses to people who do actually hoof into 'roo. Beyond their tent there is no practical way to bring life giving supplies like shade and any significant amount of bottled water or sports drink. I guess they're expected to purchase everything at the general store? Reasonably priced my ass!
I've fired off emails to everyone in the list provided by rumbleseat FWIW. Please if you have not done so already, send messages to all these people. This policy demands a serious backlash from those of us getting screwed by it.
As others have mentioned, we need to have our opinions heard by the Bonnaroo organizers! Here are some additional ways to do that!
Contact Bonnaroo directly at their email address and ask them to relax this policy and expand the Tent-Only Camping area: info@bonnaroo.com
Post on the Bonnaroo facebook page to make sure the organizers understand that the TO area is the only way to get together with friends from around the country: www.facebook.com/bonnaroo
Send your thoughts about why camping makes Bonnaroo great to AC Entertainment founder Ashley Capps on Twitter twitter.com/ashleycapps
Send an email to AC Entertainment headquarters begging them to have the Bonnaroo organizers come up with a better plan: info@acentertainment.com

I'm committed to going at this point this year. Fucking sad indeed. After last years experience I'd decided that I will never miss a Bonnaroo even if the lineup was less than stellar. With this policy in place I wont be doing that. That really sucks. Like you said, there are many other smaller and cheaper fests to attend. A dark day for sure.

Isnt it like, illegal, to guarantee a said "product or service" and not get what what your originally paid for? Doesn't make much sense, is total bullshit and I wrote them a very long letter myself. I'm not even in TO, but I will be INFURIATED if I do not get to go to brunch and meet my inforoo family.
I guess I am the only person who thinks this makes perfect sense.
TBH, I had no idea that people parked their car in car camping, only to pitch a tent in TO. That's kind of weenieish. TO is not huge, and you already have a campsite by your car, you're only doing TO because it is closer to Centeroo. That's selfish IMO. You're stealing a spot that should be reserved for someone without a car, plus you are wasting a good campsite where your car is.
If they know TO is crowded, why the F don't they just make it bigger, if they care about us? There's nothing selfish going on. They can arrange the various campgrounds however they like, and restrict certain areas as they choose, and this year they have chosen to screw people who have been coming back year after year to camp in TO. They could easily set aside a small area for those coming on Thursday without cars, if necessary, and keep regular TO open. Or just put walk-ups in with GA car camping. This was going to be my first year in TO cause it looks like I'll be going solo for once, but now I may not even go. Charging extra for Groop, then closing it BEFORE changing the TO policy is ludicrous. And what if my would-be Groop only consisted of 8-10 people? Screwed again there.
There are plenty of ways to do this, and they have chosen the worst idea and executed as rudely as possible. Firefly and Allgood are looking more and more attractive as alternatives. Both are closer for me, and cheaper.
I can appreciate the fact that they are buckling down on security after the Boston Marathon
You mean letting the terrorists win? If they force us to change our lives and continue to cede freedom to a locked-down police state, we are not secure, we have lost. I'm all for safety, who isn't? But attempting to absolutely guarantee 100% security at EVERY large gathering of people, everywhere in the country, forever, sounds horribly expensive, downright impossible, and reeks of fear mongering.
In any case, I doubt the new TO policy has anything to do with heightened security. It is about maximizing sales of expensive add-ons (VIP, Tent City, Groop, on-site RV's, etc), while packing as many people and cars in as close together as possible. The screw-job becomes a double screw-job when you announce the changes way too late for a lot of people to adjust their plans or find alternative ways to camp with friends.

I have to agree with you. I love Brunch's and meeting up with everyone there, but it might be time for me to find another fest.

Although this ridiculous policy changes things radically for those of us who have attended for years, it's a somtimes sad reality that nothing lasts forever. If this is my last year at roo I will find another fest and I will continue to post here and meet up with the good people of Inforoo. A forum name change might be in order...
Why can't you guys wanting to do TO, just ride in with someone camping, and have them drop you off at TO?
My entire group does TO and meets up from all over the country. If someone drove us in, they wouldn't be allowed to go to Tent Only according to the policy (if I understand it)
That would work for some people who didn't want to camp together but I would assume most people do.
why couldn't they have an offsite parking lot with shuttles for people wanting to TO? Then we aren't taking up GA camp ground space.

Who knew the icing on the end of the Jam Roo era was removing tent only. DAMN YOU MTV!!!!! DAMN YOU!!!!. Why dont people just meet in walmart parking lot and go into GA together? Tent Only seemed like on big clusterfudge anyway last time i took a detour there. Is there something wrong with just a regular GA spot in which you paid for anyway? I understand brunch may have to be moved but really im missing the whole big deal here. Last time I parked 45 cars from the VIP camp inforoo and they all made it through the tolls, waited off to the side, and continued on to be parked w/o a hassle.
There are multiple places on the site where it mentions that a ticket includes camping and parking. The new tent only policy indicates that you will not be allowed to make use of the parking. Does this mean that those individuals that are able to walk in and use TO should get a reduced rate? It would seem that if the ticket that was purchased included parking that there should be a parking area set up for those utilizing TO.
I would assume that they would argue that they are not keeping you from getting a parking spot and camp site. If you walk in you are forfeiting your parking spot, they are not taking it away from you.

I don't know what product you think they guaranteed that they are not providing. If you drive in you get your parking spot and you get your camp site (next to your car). No where in their contract with you does it say they have to provide a tent only option for people that drive into roo.
Now that being said I think the timing of this is crappy and the thing sucks. But I am sure that they made sure that they were completely in their legal right. The fact that they made a point in telling us in the announcement that you will go through a specific tollbooth means that they will be doing something with the bracelet to signify that you are allowed in TO camping.
It is what it is, time to come up with new plans and make it work.
For those of us coming from 20 hours away having someone drop you off is not an option. I contacted them to let them know this is Quacked.
I really don't see how this is the case...
I agree it was announced horribly late and handled poorly.
But how is a parking lot + Boro cab not just a solution here? Seems everyone is making such a big deal out of this where there is a clear 100% guarantee to work, work-around. No tow risk, no wrist band risk..

I know I'm coming in late to the party here, but Where the fuck is this parking lot? And a cab? Good luck with that.

Even if I could get over the fact that my plans are ruined, that i may not get to camp with my friends who are coming from all over, or the fact that I may now be parked very far away... Has anyone thought about the impact this may have on crowding in the sites by your cars? Without people leaving their cars behind and trekking over to TO all the spaces will be filled and we will surely be reduced to our "guaranteed 10x10 spots." I suppose that is all some people need, but when you carpool with a lot of people and PLAN to be able to take as much space as you need in TO... this is pretty restraining.
I'm venting, of course. I know many of you have already considered this, and the only thing we can do is ask for a change and hope it works.

Well... It's in the bonnaroo update email I just received... So it looks like they're not willing to give it a second thought. Jdjdishshahajaknshsgha. This really sucks.
but when you carpool with a lot of people and PLAN to be able to take as much space as you need in TO... this is pretty restraining.
This. I always literally translated "Tent Only" to people with Only Tents. AC is now making it easier for those who need tent only to get tent only. What im hearing from these complaints is that people took advantage of the proximity of TO to centeroo. Its an insane web of tents and strings and tarps with no clear in and out. No wonder it was so packed. Probably 50% of those in TO didnt belong their. People were just wasting their 10x10 area as a parking spot and heading to TO with all their gear. That adds up to alot of wasted space that coulda been used for alot better things then for your car to collect dust for a weekend. I dont disagree with the move, just how long they took to let everyone know.
Its all about the money, they want to force people to pay for group camping. lets see what how they respond to our emails before we freak out anymore (myself included)! I should hope they will respond with reasonable answers to questions like "can we visit our friends who walk in for tent only camping at their campsites?"
This really sucks for those in tent only if they do segregate us with some enforcement mechanism. What happens if a tent only person tries to hook up with a non tent only person, and the non tent only person has a campsite ill suited (people there or whatever) for a hookup? "sorry your lady friend or boytoy cannot come in with you"
