This better be a joke. I don't see how they could truly enforce this though without quarantining everyone to their respective pods until TO fills up.
Ya but imagine your car being towed and you come back 3 days later just to go figure out where the hell impound is and how you are getting there. Sounds like a HORRIBLE nightmare
This would Benefit my situation greatly, and I feel it's a terrible idea. If its not broke, don't fix it!
To add to this. Each of the past 2 years, me and my girlfriend relied on the kindness of strangers to share their shade under ez ups and enjoyed many of the great set ups people were able to cart in from their vehicles. Nobody is going to walk in with an ez up, or large shade structures. Ain't nobody got time for that. How convenient is it that they announce this just after Daft Punk Releases their first single! HELLO!!!! Could they be anymore obvious?
how could they possibly enforce this? Are they planning to move people's car/tents out of the way to tow a car? What about people that leave their car to camp at their friend's spot?

While I can understand the reasons behind it, why don't they just set up a Tent only parking lot? That way there isn't wasted space for tents. This major change should have been announced before ticket sale started.

Well considering it officially opens on Wendsday changes the dynamic for enforcement a lot. You have way less cars rolling in. They don't fill around it initially. I agree they won't be able to enforce it entirely. But people wanting to secure a spot will not be able to roll up Thursday at 11am once the full chaos is underway. So really they are just monitoring where people are hiking in gear from. And considering they have one line that they will funnel people thru to tent only it will seem pretty obvious if someone is hiking across the farm with all their gear from a totally different direction.
Last year they used volunteers to not let people go to tent only early. Now they take those same resources and use them to identify people hiking in their gear from a parked car.

They were pretty serious about having lanes between every row or second row of parked cars last year, at least by my campsite. Ostensibly for fire safety.
Fucking big brother!!! Always trying to isolate and control you man. Divide and concur! That's what's really going on here. The man keepin us down, man.
I wonder if they intend on roving the campground and looking for cars without tents/etc set up next to them? I have two friends that are flying into Atlanta and renting a car on Friday morning. The plan was to help them schlep their stuff over to our campsite and just set up their tent in our spot (they have a tiny tent since they're flying, wouldn't be a big deal at all).
I really wonder what precipitated this change, it never really looked like their wasn't enough room in the campgrounds for them to take this away from Tent Only.
this might be a stupid question but how would anyone enter on foot? maybe I'm reading it wrong, but I am confused... unless you live in the inforoo house that is soon to be purchased/established you would have to drive in from somewhere, right? (note: I am doing VIP this year so TO was not an option anyway, but I am really curious to know how that would even work.)

you just walk in the gate. i did it for a few years (parked/stayed at a friends house about a mile away)

Well, considering the shuttle from the airport only runs THURSDAY and FRIDAY and they expect TO to fill up on Wednesday, I have no idea.
I guess people who take the bus and huff it over? Taxis? Crashing nearby?
I think encouraging people to WALK to the festival isn't very well thought out either. Schleping my two large duffel bags from the shuttle stop to TO alone is pretty exhausting in that heat. Can't even imagine doubling or tripling that walk.
