Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
there wa a post not to long ago where Juggs urged someone to kill themselves as has been presented to me by yet another member who does not see eye to eye with this whole fiasco but is wishing to remain anonymous. Why not ban him?
If you don't understand the difference between "the Avett Brothers are terrible, kill yourself" and doing stuff like tracking down someone's personal information and threatening to come to their house or encouraging someone face to face to engage in seriously dangerous and potentially life threatening activity then you're an even bigger acid casualty than I thought.

] By the way when was Sproat banned before do we have a record of this? I just spoke with him on the phone and he states emphaticly he was never banned before I think you have him confused with Emoney and Flanzo from last year if I am remembering things corectly.

I was really curious as to what ultimately led to the banhammering of sproat. It was a morbid curiosity though fueled more by Larry Farnsworth's assertion in the now locked apology thread that while he agreed with the ban there was more to the story. Now I'm of the opinion that perhaps I should just mind my own business.
If I'd ever had any interaction with sproat on this board or in chat it was unmemorable. Apparently that's quite a different story for other folks though. I've not yet heard a persuasive argument that this should effect me either way. I was going to vote "I Don't Give A Fuck", but I've yet to hear how this sordid matter truly warrants my attention. With that the case, and beyond this post, I'll simply mind my own P's and Q's. But of course I'll keep reading new posts in this thread out of the aforementioned morbid curiosity.
This is a general message board statement, and not just inforoo, but what's even the point of banning someone? I've never understood it. Does it really send a message? Maybe to the rest of the board, but to the person that's banned? I kinda doubt it. What keeps anyone who is banned from just signing up a different account? I assume it is done by email address, but anyone can make a new email account in less than a minute.
For the record, I voted under the "I don't give a quack" option. Because I don't. The only thing I know about Sproat is he may or may not run a fairly popular twitter account that he once asked people to vote for in the shoutbox.

I come here to talk about music, learn about music, learn about festivals, make new friends, and I also do everything I can to just get along (because I'm an adult with a pretty good emotional maturity level and somewhat sane). I like the people here who contribute to the board, either by way of their vast music knowledge or by way of being some really cool friendly fun folks.
I don't like the people here who seem to only be here to talk shiz, stir shit, and cause middle school drama.
Sproat came back and drama ensued and the mods made a decision. I respect the mods because (see above about cool friendly fun folks) it's a hard job and someone has to do it.

IP address ban.
Yea, but you can easily get around that by being on a rotating IP address server. (I don't know the technical term for them, but I have used them before.)

so people who start shiz, stir shiz, and cause middle school drama should be banned? Hmm...anyone come to mind?

godmnitsomuch. Guess I lied about not posting in a thread regarding this matter. Dr. Joe I tend to doubt that in circumstances such as these, which BTW I'll admit I'm mostly in the dark about this one, that they are solely the results of preferential treatment by the moderators towards one inforoo member over another. I wouldn't know because I've never had a serious beef with anyone here but I'd think a perma-ban would not just come out of the blue.
A serious question for the mods: During the deliberation regarding the banning of a member do you folks not contact that member and let them know "Hey, you're about to get banned for X, Y and Z. Do you have anything to say for yourself?"

My .02 Let me preface this by saying that I'm a fairly new member to the board. I officially joined June of last year, but have been only been active since Dec. With that being said, I obviously don't know Sproats complete history with this board and with the other posters.
From my understanding Sproat got banned for his actions in chat. Im not saying I agree or disagree with what he did, and I'm not trying to say that other posters on this board get away with similar behavior like others are arguing. However in the interest in fairness, from my POV I dont believe its fair to ban someone from Inforoo, and the reasoning behind the ban is for their behavior outside of Inforoo
I don't remember who, but a few weeks ago someone asked why its ok for people in chat to openly talk about NO NO WORD, but on the board we restrict it. And the reasoning was because the board and chat are two separate entities. The rules of the board are not the same in chat, and so the mods of Inforoo have no control of chat. So we've established that the Inforoo and chat have no affiliation with each other. This is why I see its unfair to ban someone for their action in chat, or any other entity that is not Inforoo. I believe its only fair that if you get banned its a direct result of your actions on the board and the board alone.
I do see one exception and that is if their is a crossover onto the board. If the person who caused the drama outside the board directly brings it to Inforoo then I think thats grounds to ban him/her. So, after the incident in chat if sproat started posting on the board about what happen in chat and causing drama then I think its fair that you ban him. However, I do not think thats the case.
Even if Sproats history with some of the posters is not so steller, I still believe its unfair to ban someone for their actions outside of Inforoo.
You're just too young to grasp how stylin' I really was. All the boys wanted to do me when I was 5. Actually the girls did too. My haircut was confusing.
