Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Sounds to me like we need a coordinated event on, say, an upcoming Sunday afternoon where everybody on Inforoo endeavors to get it on at the same time.
He runs multiple twitter accounts, his most popular one (a sports account) he has dug up a picture of an inforoo'er, posted that picture and told his followers to meme it as part of a contest and said it was an "NFL Draft Day" picture. No, it wasnt, its a picture of a person of THIS community, that he has sent out to others to make fun of and create memes of. He has then begun posting these created "memes" on his fb/twitter pages, and website.
Also, at the bottom of this article (unseen by the screenshot) it says this:
Here's what I'm looking for:
Best meme caption (it can be related to ANY subject matter) Nickname for this guy (ie: Bad Luck Brian, Overly Attached Girlfriend, etc)
Prizes will be awarded and recognition will given out. Let's make this thing go VIRAL!
HAVE FUN..... AND THROW IT DOWN!!
So he takes a picture from a Inforoo members facebook page, sends it out as a "MEME" to his followers, and wants to AWARD and RECOGNIZE people for degrading a member of THIS forum. And wants it to go VIRAL!
Sproat is a psychopath. If you're defending him, you're borderline insane, or just extremely stupid and easily fooled.

When I'm innocent of something, I tend to suddenly put pictures of people against me on my social media networks, without clearing it. Because, I'm normal like that.
Okay, I've officially changed my position. Quack Sproat.
Dr. Joe and cursedlono, you guys are crazy if you can get behind a guy whose willing to pull some shiz like that.
Thank god he's outta here and it's really quacking stupid to question the mod's decision in anyway at this point. Quack that.
This.
I was in the "i dont give a f*ck, everyone shut up" camp until I saw this.
And to think, cursedlono has said he will bring sproat to brunch this year, in return causing many people to refuse to come. well no sh*t! i can see why they wouldnt!

Yeah this is all making perfect sense now. Why would you want to start a fight at the happiest place on earth cursedlono? I'd appreciate my first brunch to be completely drama free. And there's many members of this forum I was really looking forward to meet. Please don't screw that up for me, bud.

I don't know how to say this without sounding like an asshole, so I'll just say it. And I'll preface it all with the fact that I really don't know the whole story (and again, my vote is on don't give a quack).
First rule of internetting: don't put anything out there you don't want coming back to you. Is it shitty of him to take someone's picture without permission and make a meme? Yes. Is it deeply offensive? Maybe to the person it is of, but otherwise, not really. I've seen much worse for certain. Is it unexpected? It shouldn't be, especially with the apparent history of this guy, and again keep your shit private if you don't want it coming back to you.
"all i gotta say is come heavy in june, mamma's boy" -a normal, well-adjusted person
"your inforoo firends will sell you out. trust me. ive read all your threads too. i know your habits at the fest" -Definitely NOT a psychotic stalker
"i know you never had a dad in the picture, but its ok to drop your guard and vent eric" -someone who deserves to be welcome in the inforoo community
It's ok though, he's just running his mouth, right? no harm done!
Second rule of internetting: Don't take anything seriously or personally. Honestly, none of that would make me bat an eye. Sounds like some terrible trolling attempts. On the other message boards I participate actively on, this stuff would be laughable. Granted different board, different rules, but those are some of the least offensive "threats" I've seen.
Whatever, I'm sure I'll get berated for saying something of substance that seems to be going against the grain ITT, but I'm just saying, sounds like a lot of people, INCLUDING SPROAT, started taking the internet too seriously.

See, you say that, but you may not be aware that he actually confronted a member of this forum at bonnaroo. Suddenly the word threat doesn't belong in air quotes, does it?
And I won't apologize for being sensitive about the death of my father, which I still have no earthly idea how he found out about.

If it's not serious to you and you know nothing about the situation. Then start by shutting the mother quacking cocking sucking hell up about it. How about that for a quacking start???????
For real. We all know you are so above it, so stop posting to tell us how above you are. You don't have a fucking clue what you are talking about anyway, so get the fuck out of this thread and shut the goddamn fuck up!

For me, the more problematic aspect of the meme contest is not so much the invasion of privacy. It's that they then used the picture to set up another member of the board as the butt of a joke which isn't appropriate. Also, in the past, it has been established on this board to not use people's picture without their permission, so there's that as well.
Nah, just sticking you neck in a situation that you don't understand. Kindly never post in here again. You don't know anything about it but you come in with usless post. GTFO. Thanks.

And that's understandable. Like I said, different boards, different rules, but people's pictures being used as a joke is nothing surprising, at least to me. If this case is illustrative of anything though, it's that just because you have the rules doesn't mean that people will follow them. Which is where the whole "don't put anything out there you don't want out there", comes in. I'm not saying anyone aside Sproat is responsible, but you certainly can't trust everyone on the internet, so you have to be careful about what you put out there.

Another reason this message board is different than a lot of internet message boards is that a very large % of us meet up at bonnaroo and other festivals/shows/events/just to hang out.
We are much more of a community than a group of people who post anonymously.

You can't win, @odhsseus! @supperfurryanimal uses quotes like "Did you have something else to say you useless shiz?" at times when he feels he is right and you are wrong.
Perhaps an "ignore" button would be nice. Or simply don't respond. I'm not sure what the right answer is but I'm sure it's not worth getting all worked up about.

This. I've stuck my nose into it because I've been here for over 2 years, met some inforoosters, consider many here to be my friends, and made inforoo my daily internet home. This is definitely the most alarming occurrence that has ever happened here that I have been fully aware of (I knew of the past incidents, just not so fully).
odysseus This is a very trying for the people who have been involved. Threats, harassment, all of this is not trivial or to be brushed aside. Many people here care about each other a great deal and consider this their family and a second home, not just a message board.
There was no harm done There was harm done. A member of this board was goaded and encouraged to cause potential harm to themselves. To the point that the EMS had to be called. And as stated many times before, this was not the first offense. It was just the last straw. The cherry on top of the Chocolate covered sundae. (Chocolate is capitalized to emphasize it's importance).
Holy shit! really?
I'm not aware of what went down, but that's fucked up!

Or maybe you should stay the fuck out of it too? Maybe that would be the best option for you. Unless, you actually have something useful to say? Do you? Do you know anything about the situation? No, you don't. So shut up about it.
