FREE SPROAT!

I just find it ironic that Sproat got banned for trying to manipulate people (and in some cases succeeding) and now we have a bunch of people being manipulated by Sproat into thinking he's the victim here.

I must say, even I'm impressed.

I think people need to remember that Inforoo is a private business and the mods have the (tough) job of running it as they see fit. Yes, plenty of people are asshôles around here and deciding when that behavior crosses a line is a judgement call. Second guessing those judgement calls is much easier than making them.

More pointedly, the whole "chat is not Inforoo" argument was bull both practically and legally. But, like the mods have said, Sproats behavior in chat was only one of many examples of marks against him. Those of you lobbying for him, please feel free to ask him about the threatening way he dealt with me over PM for daring to help the board by starting a new important dates thread while he was gone. I did not know Sproat at all before that incident, and chose not to make a big deal of it because it was easier just to avoid him, which i did. But assuming I'm not the only one to have been treated that way by him, I can see why the mods made the decision they did.

Finally, if this debate is going to happen, I think it would be approrpiate for the "owner" of chat to either take a serious position or just stfu.

I'm a mod in chat. I can speak with 100% certainty that Sproat was manipulating people and trying to cause problems. I know this because I have been told by MULTIPLE members of this board. I am one of the people he was trying to manipulate. I tried to give him a second chance. Then he started PMing me ALL THE quacking TIME about people. When I told him him to just let the past die and not to respond he told me he had. But he hadn't, he was talking shiz about certain members in regards to events that happened two years ago. EVENTS HE CAUSED, BTW. He was talking about them to anyone that would listen. Even to the point of getting some new members here to post on his behalf and "troll" a certain member because it was an "inside joke" and we would all find it funny. He used the same "inside joke" line to make a new member make a bunch of awful jokes in chat, which got said person banned. Who quacking acts like this? He tried to get multiple people to do this and some did. These are posts on the board as well as trolling people in chat, BTW.

The man has tracked down and found out information about people's families to try to intimidate them. He admitted to me, in PM, that he was at the point of tracking down a board member and "beating his ass." This is the same board member that he has been obsessive with and has PMed me about over and over. It was a quacking INTERNET FIGHT THAT HAPPENED TWO YEARS AGO. People, listen. Holy Quack! This isn't normal behavior at all. Why is this so hard to see?????????????????


The reason more people aren't saying anything is they don't want anything to quacking do with this. Would you? The mother Quacker is scary.

I don't know who Sproat is, but he sounds like a sociopath with no life.

I don't get for one minute what the heck you want? You stared a thread about Free Sproat.

I don't want someone here that threatens people, digs up personal information on members, or is a psycho running around the board. It can and has spilled over into real life, people getting violent and hurting someone. Threats should never ever be allowed here. End of story.

I won't be a member of a message board that would allow for this type of behavior, so since the mods took action, I'm assured that sane and smart folks are running the joint.

Was Sproat warned before he was banned?
No. The offense was considered too grievous.

What happens in chat, stays in chat and should not be moderated by the mods. As stated by the mods themselves.
True. But when a member of this board potentially causes harm to themselves at the instigation and encouragement of another, we can not stand idly by and do nothing.
And what happens in chat does indeed effect this board, both directly and indirectly.

Yes, we put up with a LOT of crap. Which should suffice as evidence that we do not take a ban lightly.
When we ban we are told we should not. When we don't ban we are told we should. See a dilemma?

The standard is clear. If certain people that are particularly friendly with the mods don't like you, stop bothering them. Otherwise you will get banned.
There is a board member that got into regular altercations with other board members. I did not ban them. This member left. I did nothing. I am sure our friendship has suffered.

but what's even the point of banning someone? I've never understood it. Does it really send a message? Maybe to the rest of the board, but to the person that's banned? I kinda doubt it.
It's quite simple. A person that is causing multiple problems is banned. Does it matter to that person? From the PM's I have received from past members banned, I would say so. Does it matter
to this board? As evidenced by this poll, I would say so. A poll that we have not taken down, even though it has hurt at least me, greatly.

There was no harm done
There was harm done. A member of this board was goaded and encouraged to cause potential harm to themselves. To the point that the EMS had to be called.
And as stated many times before, this was not the first offense. It was just the last straw. The cherry on top of the Chocolate covered sundae. (Chocolate is capitalized to emphasize it's importance).

I say we make the ban system by public vote in the the future and the mods for the good of the board give up that power.
So who gets the PM complaints? Who gets the Administer notifications? Who gets the Face Book complaints? Who gets threatened with being turned into the NAACP for fucks sake? You want us to monitor but not mod. 



This is a often thankless, always unpaid, sometimes unappreciated fucking job. I do it because I love music, and I sometimes love you guys. 

If someone can tell how to make the results public I will make them visible if you are not seeing them my apologies it is currently 11 to unban 16 to keep the ban and 11 who dont give a shit so basically most people think this is a non event and sorry if this poll hurts Druid I have a lot of questions about how this was all handled and the fact that someone in chat can use Jedi mind tricks on people in other states and the fact that this was all settled so quickly and without any word to everyone about what was happening And I really do feel the ability to ban should be given up so this situation does not arise again if it is an emergency ban fine but within 24 hours there should be a true vote on the subject of banning because apparently a lot of people think that there is some inequality in how the whole subject is managed and that is why the poll is causing people to second guess things around here me first and foremost but I have gotten several messages about this on here and on facebook about the whole situation the subject of banning is a divisive issue and has never been thoroughly vetted most of us get along fine sometimes things will pop up that is why the whole process is so poorly understood. A lot of you might not like Sproat and that is fine and is your opinion but it might not be the consensus of opinion just some of you might be more vocal about it.
