@manchestertimes: Graves adds bonnaroo traffic could move a little slower this yr because every car will be searched by coffee co deputies or 'roo security
Isn't every car technically "searched" by Roo security, anyway?
Every Roo search that wasn't done by an actual law enforcement officer: "Do you have any glass?" "No" "Have a fun Roo!"
The way it worked in years past is the cops would let people go by and then take a car with NY/NJ/CT/MA/RI plates to try and bang them for eleventy-gajillion dollar fines.

Wasn't this already the case? Either Roo searches or a random X% gets pulled out for fuzz searches. Am I wrong?
Ya this is just hyped up because of Boston Marathon. If anything it will spread searching resources thinner given more horizontal platitude of shiz they have to look for.

Lol wow. You guys are better at reading than I am. Yea, this doesn't sound as bad. I think I stopped reading after "every car will be searched by cops". The new Superjam announcement had my mind racing.
My imm. thoughts on the second post is that they might be thinking about recent events in Boston, and perhaps looking a little more thoroughly to ensure no acts like this occur at Roo.
Manufacturing explosives at roo?? Ain't nobody got time fo dat!
That's because there are at least 15 places you can stop off on the highway to buy enough gun powdered fireworks to blow a motorhome-sized crater in the earth.
We can't have those in NY, we do stupid things and get in trouble.
Oh yeah, for sure. Tennessee's state line, regardless of the state you are entering from, is littered with fireworks stands. We like to blow shiz up round here yo!

It's because they caught wind of the Bonnaroo 5k run!

We had fun one year when we camped out the night before Roo next to a huge Big Daddy's Fireworks in Chattanooga. I don't get nearly enough fireworks fun in NY.
hate to sound like a conspiracy freakozoid because i really am not, but it creeps me out that they did the FEMA training on the farm and now they're gonna search for materials used to make explosives?? everybody be ready to duck and cover

Yeah this doesn't sound any different then years past to me. If they do increase searches they're just shooting themselves in the foot. Longer wait time in line will piss everybody off.
Its not just Coffee County deputies. The department brings in help from law enforcement all over the state for roo, as well as deputizing some of their good ole boy buddies. Still probably not enough, but there are a whole lot more "Coffee County Deputies" during roo week than any other week of the year.

For the lucky ones that get the police search instead of standard roo searches, are police dogs ever used?? I trust my hiding skills against the search skills of a fellow human being but my neighbor is a K9 highway patrol officer, I wouldn't bet on getting anything past ol' Bear(the dog's name is Bear, btw).

Yes dogs are used 100% of the time if you're pulled to the side. Questions like this aren't really encouraged here though.
Materials to manufacture explosives with? Have these people never heard of gasoline?
Edit: not trying to suggest anyone should use gasoline for illicit purposes, but it blows my mind when dumb crap like this comes out. For example there are volunteers who take the "no glass containers" rule to mean literally "no glass" as in coffeemaker carafes, but they're not standing there jimmying the windshields out of cars. And you can't bring in a hammer but you can bring in tire irons all day long. Just doesn't make sense. This is why you have to screen the person, not the car.

After a bit of further thought, one thing they could do is bring in the kinds of explosives sniffing devices that are used at airports. Puffer machines.

They weren't used the one time my vehicle was pulled to the side. They may only used them if you try and deny their request to search.

That's how it's worked for me when I've been stopped on the interstate. But I've always seen dogs at every car if you're chosen for the search at the gates.

Umm no this is not true.
Dogs are there. Not used at 100% at all.
