Immediately sterilize the entire area. Alcohol, lysol, or perhaps one of Elon Musk's new flame throwers.
My other shared-space coworker did just that. But I'm still grossed out by the particulates in the air. You'd think biologists would give more of a crap about not spreading germs.
Nope, unfortunately this is not true most of the time. In addition, these people (I'm including others working in the similar field) don't usually care about the environment they work in and leave a mess after themselves.
Sorry, I had to get it out of my system. #rantover

This all boils down to two things: 1. everybody is assholes 2. nobody gives a fuck about anyone other than themselves. (Is that correct grammar? It doesn't feel correct. Spelling is hard.)
Thanks you guys for all your support of me. I’m still not in best place and I have to go back to work tonight. I’ve talked to an investigator and they are working their asses off to find this guy. I’ve also gotten kudos from the police department for handling the situation the best way I could.
I’m hoping I’ll be ok.
I'm so sorry you have to go back right away. Did your employer or the police offer any sort of crisis counseling?

No, they didn’t. Hell, my own manager hasn’t even called to check in on me to see if I’m ok.
I mentioned having a pain in the ass coworker the other day in the NFL thread. I'm dumbfounded as to how he keeps a job. He will almost always refer to women as "chicks" or "broads", harasses and antagonizes any co-workers who he knows that don't watch football (specifically the Patriots) or are liberals, makes casually racist and homophobic comments, and openly rips on the company multiple times a day criticizing new safety regulations.
Also, he: - Asked one coworker (who is far more a fan of the Bruins and hockey than the Patriots and football) how he'll spend his Sundays now with no football games. After the coworker responded spending time with family, he yells loudly BORING BORING BORING.
- Asked another coworker if he broke into Rob Gronkowski's house and stole items. A couple hours after that, after seeing a picture of the US women's hockey team on his computer, commented about how it wasn't worth watching cause of all the "butches" on the team.
- Admitted multiple times to watching a Japanese adult film featuring a dementia stricken man who has an affair with his step-daughter, the step-daughter dressing as his favorite cow after the cow died.
- Went on a 10 minute rant about all the Latinx welfare recipients in Walmart on the first of the month.
- To celebrate 300 days with no reportable injuries - the company last week offered a cheese and cracker platter and gave out t-shirts. He was hoping for donuts and breakfast sandwiches, and was all kinds of upset (still) about the company being (in his mind) too cheap nowadays.

And this is just in February so far.
Horrible! Fingers crossed he says the wrong thing to the wrong person and gets fired.

I have been very quiet and not told a lot of people about what happened. I’m very restless and I’m not about to sleep very well. I moved up an appointment with my therapist, but I’m still in a lot of mental angst about what happened. All of the positive reinforcement I’ve gotten from the police and others has helped but it only does so much.

I can only imagine, that is a seriously traumatic event. I hope your therapy appointment helps, and that each day becomes a little easier for you.

It might help to talk to someone. Your therapist first and foremost of course. But maybe someone else close to you who could lend a sympathetic ear. It might be cathartic and can help you move past it and heal.

Cool, so there's a man sleeping in our lobby for the past few days. I hate confrontation and don't want to be a jerk, but I don't feel comfortable with someone sleeping in our building for multiple hours each day.

If you don't wanna confront him, just poke him with a stick and run away

LOL.
My co-worker has tried making some extra noise and going in/out of the building and the dude hasn't budged. I'm not sure a stick would even work!
It wouldn't bother me as much if there wasn't usually just 1 or 2 of us on this whole floor, in a very very quiet and low traffic building.

Wait, just like....a random dude? Does he work there?

Totally random dude. I work on a college campus, so it's less weird than normal, but still freaking weird.
We had a guy living in our building after hours for weeks (maybe even months?) many years back.

Im going to need a status update on this building resident. Has he fully moved in yet? Is he already not replacing the toilet paper roll?
Haha. The guy who was taking a nap left when confronted and hasn't been back since.
The resident years ago was arrested after he was caught red handed "using" a computer in the middle of the night by campus/state police. Despite us calling campus police every morning for over a month and letting them know about our suspicions (pee in the ladies toilets with no TP, locked doors that weren't locked when we left, other doors propped open, disappearing food from the fridge, running into people who were in the building running experiments late at night, etc), they only became involved and gave a crap when he infected our computer in the auditorium with malware. A poor kid was setting up to do his thesis defense (and even skyped in his parents from out of the country), and when he turned on the computer tons of porn-filled pop up ads came up. Thank goodness he showed up early to set up and it didn't happen with an entire room full of people! I think he still had a mini heart attack when it happened, though.
Our company just got acquired. Effective Monday, April 16, we will be outsourced, which just so happens to be my 5 year anniversary. Many of us will be invited to join the Elliot Co, that acquired us and some of us won't. YAY work.

Oh no. When do you find out if you're getting offered or not?
