5th month of working Saturdays. It's not hell, per se, but it is getting old.
they suck. thankfully i only do em once every 8 or so weeks now but i had to work basically every sat and sunday when i was at sbux. not fun at all, do they just give you sun and mon off instead?
Currently working two jobs and my second job is for a private practice, so to get in on the office space I started with two weekday evenings and Saturdays with the hope to transition out of my normal 9-5 in August. It's temporary but I also see a virtual client every other Sunday, so I only technically get every other Sunday off. Not trying to complain too much because I made my bed, but I really miss just working 8:30-4:30 and having my evenings and weekends mainly free.
I'm pretty sure I've only had a couple dozen Saturdays off total in the last ~8 years
I feel for you. I used to work hospital shifts which required Sat-Sun shifts every other weekend for about 7-8 years. So, I can only imagine...
yeah I've always been in hospitality and entertainment, two industries heavily reliant on people with normal jobs spending their money on the weekends lol.

Today has been far too frustrating for a Friday.
I have one person out of the bazillion that I help who always feels like his LOW PRIORITY items should be completed before hard deadlines (some of which are HIS OWN) and other fires and pressing matters that come up.
Can't wait until I can quit and tell him to get bent.

So my end date is nearing and I'm super excited.
Just need to figure out WHEN I'm telling them. At that time I'm going to offer to continue to help them for anywhere from 2-4 weeks, but I can ONLY work remotely during that time. We'll see how that goes lol. Kind of don't care, they can take it or leave it at that point
So, I’ve officially been in middle management for all of 6 months now and I fucking hate it. It’s literally just babysitting and putting out fires. I have been off sick the past two days and today I literally had someone on my team email me, slack me and DM ME ON INSTAGRAM to see if I could just “look over this prop real quick and give any feedback“ before he sent it.
In what world does someone think that’s ok? I want to be the cool, laid back, chill, approachable boss.. but like. That’s just taking the piss.
Not to mention the constantly conflicting priorities of the business that I’m meant to be enforcing. One day it’s “no more SMS sends till the opt outs are fixed” the next is, “bur AFL are a major client so we can’t say no”. Or “we need to reduce our solus sends to 100k per send, with nothing over 300k ever” but then the next day its “no, we need to send this one for 500k because they’re an internal promoter”

I just spent most of my workday trying make sense of this one providers application and gathering everything I needed to have them update/verify only to get an email back 20 minutes later saying they were supposed to have been removed from our network.

Meditation is definitely helpful. I’d also like to suggest positivity/self praise journaling and reading a book called Self Esteem by McKay et al. Most people in our culture give themselves way too hard a time, particularly in regard to work, hence the Sunday scaries. Realizing that your self worth doesn’t have to be, nor should it be, derived from your 9 to 5, and realizing that you catastrophize the results of what’ll happen if you don’t meet your own way too high standards at work has been massive for me in calming down and enjoying my time away from work.
I think we should all move to 4 x 10’s. We had a long weekend this week and honestly, every time it happens I feel like it should be the norm. 3-day weekends just feel right.

Don’t give in to corporations. We should NOT be working 40 hours. 4x8 should be standard now. 32 hours per week is plenty.

yeah a 10 hour shift sounds hellish. I don’t want to be off work at 7 pm. 4 x 8 seems manageable

I think our work week is 36 hours full time here. But I still end up online from like 9-6/7ish every day. 🙃
I'm lucky that exempt staff are listed to work a 40-hour work week, but office hours are only 8:30-4:30. (Non-exempt are listed as 35-hour work week with an hour lunch.) The general idea is the assumption that we work outside of office hours. Which is absolutely true and the shorter office hours is one of the big things keeping me here. This past weekend, I worked so much that I literally left home Thursday morning and didn't go home until Sunday afternoon.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
