Crossover work is hell/grrrrrr - for the first time in three years and three months, I’m working in the office this morning because my internet has been out at home since about 5:30 yesterday afternoon.

Worked a 12-hour bartending shift 4pm-4am yesterday understaffed and no help from upper management who scheduled terribly. Made $500 but my mind and body will never recover.

Been there. Sometimes that money feels barely enough.

Yeah this is exactly why I had to take a break from the service industry. I do miss that money tho.

This was exactly what I was thinking unfortunately.

Then again England made those I’m not gay but $20 is $20 T-shirts famous. It might be painful to mind and body but $500 is $500. There’s a lot of motherfuckers, probably at least 6 billion, that wished they had $500. Probably a lot of them wish they made that in a month or even 6 months. So not quite hell.
My cube mate showed up with a cane and eye patch today. No one in the office was prepared.
I wear an eye patch at my desk somewhat frequently due to an issue in one of my eyes. Wonder frequently what the people around me think about it, but gotta do what I gotta do to feel comfortable

Wtf?!
oh this guy is a piece of work. This is apparently a legitimate medical thing happening and I feel for him. But my boss also filled me in that he’s the office hypochondriac so we take it all with a grain of salt.
He keeps paper bags full of empty cans under his desk, half eaten food on his desk for days. I had to clean up his mess the other week because he just left his lunch leftovers out all fucking weekend before he went on vacation. Fruit flies were everywhere. I don’t handle being forced to live in other peoples filth well so we don’t speak very often.
Did I mention that I work in the division of Food Safety & Inspection? 🙃

My work contract was just extended for 6 more months. Of course it came down to the wire as my contract end date was this Friday. Would be nice if it didn’t come down to the wire with only 2 days to go but here we were…
So the summer here was really rough. Gasa Gasa never really scheduled me for weekends, or bigger shows on days that the bar manager didn't consider a Vieux shift. So I got a third job and I was thinking of quitting Gasa, but decided to cater my schedule to the shows I want to work there.
Well last night (which if I would have put in my two weeks when I started the other gig would have been my last night) Shawn comes in TRASHED. We have a new hire, that was supposed to be training for her last shift. Her and I ended up working, but all night Shawn gave me shit about the fact that I couldn't work next week. EVERYONE including him have taken off a minimum of two weeks this summer, and I had to work all those dead, no money days to cover. He tells me I am leaving and he had to hire 4 people to replace me. I told him he should have BEEN hired those people and I shouldn't have been your work mule. Then he tells me he is giving her two of the shifts that I normally work. All I could think is fuck, I should have put in my notice.
I am definitely quitting now, obviously. But I have to wait until I get a real paycheck for Urban South Brewery to ensure that I can even afford to quit. Such fucking bullshit. I am so over being a loyal fucking employee.
I put in my two week notice at Gasa Gasa, expected to get my second to last check today, and they are not paying us until Monday, because they don't have the money to pay us.
I am so fucking mad. I knew I should have put in my notice a month ago.
So the company I work fer is pretty small, and our IT department really is just my boss, myself, and a guy who’s supposed to be half IT support and half customer service support. My boss is usually only in the office three days of the five-day workweek (his wife is goin’ through some serious cancer stuff, and her current treatment is experimental, so I try not to fault him), and my co-worker has shown up fer some 10 hours over the last two weeks.
So everyone at work really just comes to me with literally any computer related issue and I’ve had enough! Today one coworker was tryin’ to fax a document through email, which I have only a minimal amount of knowledge on so I had to spend time askin’ our two programmers if they could help. My wife was tryin’ to print somethin’, but she gets an error when she tries. So I try to print the same thing and get the same error, but the damn thing is workin’ as far as I can tell, it just won’t actually print. I had to set up another laptop fer a coworker ‘cause my IT coworker didn’t set one up properly when he dropped it off at this person’s house (probably ‘cause he’s not in the fuckin’ office to begin with). Now I get to start Monday mornin’ with printer support and figure out when I can get that new laptop out.
Oh, and the owner still basically runs the company on a Windows XP computer, refuses to upgrade, and gets pissed when incompatibility issues with his machine come up. He tells me to just “make it work!”

I hate my fuckin’ job.
I just want to know if your tickets also look like this. Please tell me they do!
Hopefully all the gremlins go away on their own by Monday and you have a better day.

No, that’s much to advanced fer us. I try and make to do lists and have sticky notes near my phone to make notes and make those a priority fer myself.
this will be a long post so sorry in advance. I am the second longest tenured non owner at my current company. I have never had a new hire that I actively don't like. However at the start of October my company hired two new people for my shift. for this first time in my life I genuinely want a coworker to get fired even if it means more work for me. Ws hired 2 new people we will call them J ant T. j is younger person who picked up on most of the job within a couple weeks. J is basically ready to run solo shifts at this point. T proudly declares herself as old enough to be everyone's mother. She tries to be everyone's mother. She is still asking for a pat on the back for knowing how to do basic week 1-2 stuff. she also gets suuuuper butt hurt if we don't let her do stuff that she can't do. Really the worst part is that she will not shut the fuck up and constantly talks loudly at everyone about absolute nonsense while we are trying to work. Sometimes its work related commentary that doesn't need to happen and sometimes it's talking about her family. The other day she got like super insistent that we all look at a photo of some old high school friend that she tracked down while at work, while we were trying to do work tasks. She got all butthurt when we did not drop everything and look at her phone. I really wish she will quit and I know its only a matter of time before myself or my work bestie who is the only one who has been here longer snaps and just tells her to shut the fuck up and learn to do her basic task before we give her more responsibility. This may seem harsh but its a logistics and delivery job and she doesnt even know how to work google maps to tell when people are in the right spot and wants praise when she randomly figures that out... This is the first time in my life that I have actively dislikes a coworker and wanted them to just quit and I don't like feeling that way. But also I just want to get through my shit with out having correct someone else every 30 seconds while also doing my job. I cant wait for them to get WFH so we don't have to hire from the bottom of the barrel for these shifts.

My girlfriend is heading back into the corporate sector after a long time of freelancing, and she's been hearing about "Resume Scores" and making sure your resume is, like, AI-bot-scan-friendly so you can get to the head of the line. Anyone have any experience with this? Any direction like websites or debunking would be awesome.

I’m sure it’s a fee based resume service. But it does have some hints on how to start.
I actually had to make a resume recently to apply for a BPAC position with the government. Have not done one in a million years. It was a hilarious endeavor.
It’s a thing. A lot of companies use software to scan resumes for key words and phrases rather than having a human screen every submission. Yay, the future.
During my last job hunt, I used a resume-writing service to turn the one I wrote myself into a version optimized for our AI overlords, and while I can’t say for sure that it made a material difference, I think it was a worthwhile investment.
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?

I'm curious, if you don't mind me asking, what ball park did you pay for this resume-writing service? Because I paid $1.75 and I think I got what I paid for.
In my defense, it's an unpaid government committee position. So I felt the dollar value spent was compensatory.

Ah, it was a while ago, and I can't seem to find the receipt in my email inbox. Crap. Sorry about that. I do know it was more than $1.75 - probably more in the $50-$100 range, I think.
