So yesterday at work, I got a lot more responsibility given to me, which I've wanted for years, so I appreciate it.
However, the reason I got the responsibility is my coworker was diagnosed with lymphoma. She doesn't have many details. Obviously this was not how I wanted more responsibility, it really sucks.

That does suck. I'm sure your boss is relieved that you are able and willing to take on some of her duties.

So I've been having a lot of anxiety lately - it seems to be getting worse as I get older. I always feel overwhelmed and want to cry all the time, so I've asked my boss if I can work 3/4 time - 8 hours Mon - Thur and be off every Friday. I volunteer for an animal rescue about 10-15 hours a week also (which I love and don't want to stop doing). I told him my reason is anxiety and stress. I don't really want to need to take medication, I would prefer to manage my life in a way that I have less stress. I've had a presciption for xanax for 4 years, but I don't take it often.
My boss is very open to it and is fine with me managing my workload in 4 days. So I'm waiting to hear from HR, but if they do not allow it, I wonder if I can get documentation from my doctor, where they would have to allow it? Anyone have any experience with anything like this?

A few of my co-workers have mentioned that one of the managers has made comments to them about me. I finally went to a manager to say something the other day. Started to cry while talking, and all they suggested was to not believe everything my co-workers say. They made the point that my co-workers love to gossip, so I need to take everything with a grain of salt. This only made me cry more. It was so embarrassing.

That sounds like a nightmare. It is ridiculous when workplaces resemble high schools. I'm so sorry your work environment isn't pleasant at the moment.

Thanks. It's so frustrating. I don't feel comfortable talking to that many people, and have cried in front of almost every manager in the last six months. It's so embarrassing.

A one women's potty (like literally one toilet) is not enough for a whole floor of a building consisting of 95% women. UGH. My poor bladder.
I've already looked into the OSHA regulations for this and it's pretty startling how few potties companies can get by with, and they don't take gendered bathrooms into account. Feels like I'm at damn Bonnaroo in the longest porta line ever.

Pretty sure my co-workers must think ice cubes are made by magic. Every single day I find the ice cube bin empty, and dump the trays in to refill it and then fill the trays with water, only to find the bin empty again the next day and repeat the process.

It's not exactly work, but the grad school waiting game is killer. It's like calling a girl you have a crush on and she tells you she'll for sure call in the next 90 days to let you know if she'll go on a date with you.

Anyone would be a total jerkface not to want you. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

ah thanks. I actually got rejected by one school already but I aint mad.
If only! I just retreated back into my office to hide from it. That's what I get for venturing out anyway.
Did you ever find out where the smell was coming from?
No, it dissipated by the next time I went out in the hall. There was a lot going on in the kitchen at the time, so I'm guessing that's where it was coming from.
There's a water cooler right outside of my office and it has a little basket with cups. It really, really bothers me to see so many people who work in this building walking around with those cups. If your office is down the hall, why can't you invest in a reusable cup/water bottle instead of wasting plastic every day?!?!?
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

There's a special part of every work day when my proximity to time to leave is close enough to where I have to start listening to the radio or come up with an album short enough to finish before time to leave.
