Last year was my 1st Roo, but here were my complaints:
1. porta potties were garbage on day 2. It's not really a deal breaker for me but the girl were disgusted
2. more water stuff. could be anything like mist tents, more fountains, more water stations, more slides. anything with water. it's just way too hot out.
3. tents were kindve small and i couldn't see a lot of acts very well. Screens would help out a lot
4. stupid ditch on your way to the main stage, they make enough money to buy a little dirt. hell, my neighbor has enough dirt in his backyard to fill that in.
5. it was so hot. im from ohio and i dont know how you guys that live down there deal with that all summer. must be used to it. i know bonnaroo can't change the weather but maybe they could get ahold of that alien spaceship from independence day to come hover over the festival for a few days while were there?

Pretty much all of your points have been greatly improved upon in the last few years. Give it time. Things will get better.
#3 has been a request for years. Hopefully this is the year!

wow, if you thought last year was hot, you would have been miserable in '10 and '11. compared to those two years, last year felt like an arctic blast.

so i've heard, i may not have prepared as well as i should. i will for sure this year

I'm also from ohio & maybe it was bc it wasn't my first fest (idk if it was your first or not) but I actually wasn't too bothered by the heat. Shockingly I actually slept in till like 10 am two of the four days and it was amazing. I've never lasted past 7 or 8 in a tent. I was shocked. Still don't know exactly what I did differently there.....

The porta-potties depend a lot on what time of day you go, too. I would sooner go into one at 9am on Sunday than at 3am Saturday.

I agree with the water stations and mist tents. A second fountain could be cool, but I don't know where they'd put it - middle of the campgrounds, maybe?
3. tents were kindve small and i couldn't see a lot of acts very well. Screens would help out a lot
No screens on the tents is a big complaint around here. As long as they don't block anyone's view of the stage itself, I'm for them. Patience is a virtue - the Which stage screen only went up in 2011.
4. stupid ditch on your way to the main stage, they make enough money to buy a little dirt. hell, my neighbor has enough dirt in his backyard to fill that in.
Yep, you've definitely been to Bonnaroo. Welcome to the club.

It's all part of the package deal. It can change a lot year-to-year, too - 2011 was the hottest of my four years, and 2012 the coolest. I'm told 2010 was even more brutal than 2011, and last year seemed to be one of the cooler years too. Bring a shade tent, hydrate liberally, find whatever shade you can in Centeroo, maybe brave the recycled wook grime in the fountain if absolutely necessary. Hopefully you'll learn to manage in future years, because there's really nothing they can do about. Unless...

wasn't my first but the first down in the south. everything else has been in new york or chicago. it couldve been the extracurriculars i partook in that caused some problems too.

I'm from columbus too, you going this year?
Yup I'll be there. Funds are tight this year tho so I may be doing volunteer alone since all my friends will more than likely to ga

The extras really can wreck havoc on your weekend. You have to pay extra attention to your water intake and recognize you probably won't be as rested as you usually are nor will you be able to rest up as much after.

The Porta Potties in Centeroo in the Morning are way way better. Its worth the walk for the ladies in the morning.
As for the heat...come spend a Month in Louisiana with me before Roo and you wont mind it. In Louisiana in 2011 it was over 100 Degrees for 5+ weeks. So Bonnaroo wasn't so bad for the group of us that made the trip. Bringing a canopy for your campsite helps for your down time...I brought a spray bottle as well the past couple of years and that helps some + everyone keeps asking you to spray them which can be fun and annoying lol.

Dust masks everywhere in 2007. Shirts, towels, and bandannas covering everyone's nose and mouth. 2007 was so dry and nasty.
Definitely agree that the past few years have been some of the best weather ever. Large amounts of overcast skies that make daytime go by much easier. Breezy at times too. And no long rain storms for most of the weekend.

Really I have thought the weather other than 2007 was pretty good. Cool and Rainy in 08 and 09, 2010 and 2011 were hot but not unbearable, 2012 I got downright cold, and this year was not bad at all.

I've gone the past three years, and 2011 was the hottest of the three. Nothing incredibly difficult though. Bonnaroo is WELL overdue for a wet, wet, year. Last year it rained heavily Wednesday afternoon, and was clear until Petty, which went straight into Monday. As much as a wet year would suck, there's something primal about it that makes me want it.

I would love one rainy day at least, right in the middle of the fest. Like when you're a kid and your running around outside playing in the rain and its a great time, only this time you'll be at a playground for adults.

Been twice. Definitely the most exhausting festival I've been to. Really took a toll on my body and mind both times. Thankfully my goodie bags kept me going.
