would have been cool to see Sleepy Brown and Killer Mike out tehre with OutKast like they have been most of the summer. just makes the set i saw live that much better in the end. regardless they have been killing it all summer and every single crowd since Coachella wekend 2 has been into as much as possible

Just got home. Made the decision to abort Darkside. My dumb ass didn't appropriately prepare for the rain, and we got dumped on today during the two hours where nothing was going on. That ruined the momentum from the incredible start to our day...
Trombone Shorty rocked it. I think I will always enjoy a Sunday afternoon jazzy dance party. Just a lot of fun, infectious grooves.
Run the Jewels was fantastic. El-P and Killer Mike have great chemistry, and that came through today. Best banter moment came from El-P getting really concerned about a female attend getting assaulted by security, and then realizes it was a dude with long hair, and proceeds to not give a damn about him.
We unknowingly ended on a high note with Glen Hansard. The rain started coming down during his set, and I had my first magical concert rain moment. Glen didn't let the weather get him down. He started singing Riders on the Storm, got off the stage and into the rain to soak it in, and the music seemed to ebb and flow with the music. It was a great time, and reminded me what I love about music festivals to begin with.
After that, the rain just kept coming in waves, and we couldn't seem to get dry. After a few rounds of that, and no good music to anchor is, I decided it was time to leave. After catching Darkside's amazing set at Bonnaroo, I was looking forward to reliving the experience, but alas. At least I can say I've seen them once.
All in all, it was a strange weekend. It was everything I've loved and hated about Lolla before, just magnified. Perry's needs to die in a fire.
Well the after show was great. Jaar played about two hours and it just kept getting better. The venue was a little odd. It's definitely not anywhere I would normally hang out so the crowd was a mix of the high spending downtown club people and the post Lolla want to see Nicholas Jaar people. It didnt throw off the mood though. It was cramped and tiny and hot as balls, but that just made it a little more enjoyable.
No exceptional lighting or anything to speak of. They had dancing girls with crosses on their chests and patterned harlequin style mask though. I guess that was interesting.

My wife seemed to really enjoy it. But, apparently, there was a continuous, monotonous beat between DJ's that was a bit of drag.
Did everybody else party until 7:00 in the morning every night? Is that a normal thing at Lolla or do I need to have a spousal, sit down chat?

Don't be mad just because your wife goes harder than you do.
Seriously though, did she party with chicojuarz? If so, a chat is definitely warranted.

first hour of the Outkast set is the best hour of music I have seen in 2014
I felt the same way at Forecastle. Near perfection until the solo pieces come and Andre's part completely stops the energy of the show. There are still great songs afterwards, but it loses momentum.

Between DJs at the Jaar show? I dunno. I got there right when he was about to go on. Then it went quiet for a bit while we waited for Kid Chaotic to show up. I didnt last one whole song for that one.
And is it normal to party till 7am every night? Yes. You've met me. I'm normal.
I didn't like Warpaint all that much. Granted, I was waiting for CHVRCHES, and got front row.
That''s not to say Warpaint was bad in my opinion, merely mediocre. And the sound at the Lake Shore was whack, as usual.
By the way, before CHVRCHES came on I was talking with two guys who went to Bonnaroo this year. Did you happen to be one of them? (a.k.a Do you remember ever seeing a dude in a black baseball cap, green Under Armour shirt with an orange Microsoft bag? That was me.)
I wouldn't have left Darkside for anything going on but Chance the Rapper and R. Kelly sounds pretty fun. World's Greatest is fine Bump N' Grind and Ignition (remix)would have been nuts.
I watched the stream of this and Kellz did like 10 seconds of World's greatest, then did the intro to Bump N' Grind right into Ignition Remix. He was on stage for maybe 5 minutes from what I saw. It was seriously an incredible show overall though.

I'm with ya. My friend saw them at Roo (I wasn't able to make it down sadly) and said they were meh, then we saw them together about a week after roo opening for Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and I was super excited to see them. He didn't want to talk them down to me to kill my buzz for the show so he didn't say anything, but when I told him I was a little underwhelmed with their set, he finally told me he felt the same both times he saw them. They just announced a headlining show in town this fall and some of my friends are going crazy over it, but they kind of just do nothing for me.
Back to work after a long weekend, still exhausted. Overall considering the subpar lineup and ridic rain on Sunday, I had a great time this weekend. No compaints. Fave sets of the weekend were Foster The People and Kings Of Leon. It was the 3rd time I've seen Kings so I wasn't expecting much but they killed it I felt. Great light/screen set up, and the whole orchestra set up was a nice mix up. I wish Foster The People were playing when it was dark but i thought that show had a ton of energy for where they were slotted. Everyone around me was goin nuts almost the whole show. Had a great time there. Biggest eye opener of the weekend was Chromeo. Never seen them before and they blew me away. I didn''t know a ton of their stuff so it's hard to say they were my fave set of the weekend but I left their set being like okay not missing them at any festival going forward.
Top 5 in no order:
Lorde Foster The People Kings Of Leon Chromeo RAC (full band)
Hopefully with the talk of even more EDM fests coming to Chicago, Lolla mixes it up next year and adds more hard rock. Not getting my hopes up but it'd be nice.
i watched Chromeo on the live stream and had the same reaction. only knew 2 songs and never had a chance to them live before and that set was crazy good, i really enjoyed, looked like it was even better live.
