What venues did they use last year for the LN acts?
Bowery Ballroom is a personal fave. T5 is garbage.
Is it about the audio for you and T5? Or just dislike it in general? I've heard people complain about the audio but I guess I don't notice that stuff as much. I like T5 but only if I get a decent spot on the floor in front of the stage. Being stuck under the overhang thing or way in the back can suck.
My fave is BK Bowl for sure. Hard to find a bad spot for those shows.

For me I hate T5 cuz its rare to get a good spot. If you are on the floor theres a good chance one of those pillars are blocking your view. And if you are on the upper levels unless you are leaning right up against the rail you can't see anything.

Now that the Lolla lineup is out it looks like all the major US festivals have released their lineups. If you ask me Id say govball has every festival beat. I think Lolla and Roo really dropped the ball this year.

I do agree Governor's Ball is definitely in my top 3, based on my musical preference i'd probably go:
1) Bonnaroo/Coachella (everytime i look at coach i get upset Roo doesn't have someone. Then i get excited looking at Roo, and realizing Coach didn't get them) 2) Governor's Ball 4) Hangout
I do agree in my opinion that Lolla dropped the ball, but it could just be that a lot of the names on there i've seen at different festival line ups so i'm just not really upset i'm missing anything on their line up, because i know i can see it somewhere else. I do think that Governor's Ball made a huge leap this year, and i hope they continue this trend with their line up. I think they can be considered a "Premiere Festival" if not considered one already. And Hangout seems awesome, and i'd be real stoked if i were going to that.
In a way i dislike this oversatuation of the festival market (man have i heard that phrase more this year than ever). I think it is sparking a lot of competition between promoters to go out and get unique acts. Unfortunately because of this, it causes a ton of cross over, and it is hard to get real excited about acts, like Gambino when you see him on 4+ line ups. I'm aware that this has always happened, maybe it is just my new interest in all fests to find a perfect line up that i am noticing a ton more.
I'd be interested in if this increase in festivals starts to either a) make festivals move up their line up release dates or b) make 'leaks' a lot more likely.

For me, the best thing about Governors Ball and Roo having overlaps is I can easily knock out a bunch of conflicts that are sure to arise. Really excited about doing both.

Going off what ITM said, I just love the fact that one festival is hotel/room renting while Bonnaroo is camping. Last year when I did Roo and Firefly back to back I was exhausted from all the camping. Also, I'm giddy thinking of all the cool things to do in NYC including the after shows/restaurants; while Bonnaroo is a festival to get away from things that a city festival brings to the table. Going to the Cut/Copy show at T5 the other day really got me excited to be in the city for 4 days!

I'd love to hear how you think Roo dropped the ball, especially in comparison to Lolla.

I see a lot of festivals dying out. Sasquatch had to cancel its second weekend, Counterpoint sales are likely suffering, Ultra sales are suffering (but that's due to an absurd price), and other weak festivals will likely fall off.

I did the same thing last year Bonnaroo into Firefly, but I stayed in a hotel near the festival area and it was honestly the best decision I made. The camping at FF couldn't compare to Roo, and the hotel was literally right outside the camping area so my walk back was simple and quick. Im excited to finally get to Governors Ball this year, especially considering the lineup. Last year I had a wedding that prevented me from pulling off the trifecta.
And btw, how great was Cut Copy this past weekend? Finally got to see them live and they definitely met all my expectations. I was at the Saturday show. Extremely bummed I have to miss them on the farm this year.

Yea I think this oversaturation in the festival market will begin to subside. Governors ball will hopefully stick and not fall apart like every other NYC area festival. RIP All Points West

Oh you cant even compare Lolla and Roo. Bonnaroo's isn't even that bad, I guess it just doesn't appeal to me this year since a lot of the big draws are already gonna be at govball. But just thinking of Roo's top line off the top of my head, I am not a fan of Elton, Lionel or Vampire Weekend. And there's too much EDM in the top tier for me. Also I love Kanye, but he just did 7 shows in my area on the Yeezus tour, two of which I attended, so him being on the lineup doesn't really do anything for me. I shouldn't have thrown Bonnaroo in the same sentence as Lolla haha

You're forgetting that ACL (or even OSL) hasn't announced.

I had really high expectations for their show and they definitely exceeded them. No one should miss their LN set at Roo.

Fair enough. I agree with what you're saying. The silver lining in having to miss Roo this year is that I too have seen Kanye recently and there's a good amount of overlapping for my tastes as well.
Very confident in a disclosure Afterparty, which I've very much wanted, especially after seeing this tweet:
I would guess Terminal 5 to be honest, especially considering their ties with Bowery. Where else you think it could be?
Webster Hall.
Didn't even think of webster for some reason. Only hesitation would be that when they played there earlier this year it was just a DJ set. I would really hope they'd go for a full scale after show, but I'm starting to think that would be less likely. If they were looking to do a full scale after show, I'm not sure if they played a DJ set there last because it couldn't accommodate their setup, or it was too much of a hastle to get the production setup out of T5 over to webster, but both of those could be issues if it was the night of their Gov Ball set as well. We'll see.

I'm probably going to have to miss the first couple of acts on Friday. Do shows typically start in the afternoon? Not sure I can take off from work that day.
I have to admit, this festival looks somewhat underwhelming broken up by day. And I was beyond excited when the lineup came out. May look to sell my passes, though maybe I'll wait until the Bonnaroo lineup comes out and use this as a conflict eliminator.
Seriously though they stacked Saturday and left the other two days wanting.
