Also, since it hasn't been clarified in here, because people who spend a lot of time or live in NOLA take it for granted, is that you can totally drink in public.
So the Foo Fighters announced a 'secret' Halloween show at the Ryman in Nashville on Halloween night. I wonder if there is a possibility of them doing something in NOLA on Saturday?
I don't see any Midnight Preserves listed on the Preservation Hall's website or anything like that.

Seems like our best chances are the night of the NOLA Sonic Highways episode...
Idk. I'd go though for sure. If I can hang late Saturday, it's gotta be Tauk at 2:00am. My oldest was chiding me last night about the Monsters of Funk. That's a long ass way from Howlin' Wolf to the Marigny. But it's still on the radar.
Temps are trending down. Basically Saturday is like a January Winter day here. High is now 62 per NWS (average lowest high in winter here is 61). It'll probably swing a little more between now and then. And I know not that many people live South of here. But at least be sure to bring a hoodie, sweatshirt, light jacket or whatever especially if anyone had been planning to pack shorts and tanks or whatever.
Friday Sunny, with a high near 75. North wind 5 to 15 mph. Friday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 48. Saturday Sunny, with a high near 62. Saturday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 49. Sunday Sunny, with a high near 68. Sunday Night Partly cloudy
Also, LMAO at Hannibal and the NOLA rep. He apparently dropped into some open mike night place last night and announced a show in early December. I'm not going, but he is funny.
I-86/Southern Tier Expressway people in the house? I haven't been to Jamestown, but kids did a year in Friendship, and I've been to Cuba a bunch of times. I like that part of the world. When are you getting into town? I'm 75/25 going to head downtown tomorrow night with the intention of seeing Moon Taxi. I'll be probably drinking at the Irish Pub just past House of Blues on Decatur (Kerry Irish Pub I think) or whatever that bar is right on the corner there at either Bienville or Conti for the Saints game, and depending on how that's going will determine when I go to see Moon Taxi. You'll know me (and that's pretty much any time this weeekend) by the blue & grey NO Pelicans baseball cap with the NO surrounded by a net (almost looks like a rifle sight). Let me know if you're downtown tomorrow night or whatever, and if I end up not going to the show, I'll post it by tomorrow evening.
I've been in town since Sunday and it's been killer. Going to maple leaf tonight and I'll probably hit up Markey's tomorrow then.
Word. The Country Club next door to Markeys is a pretty badass place to eat. I haven't been there for a while (since right after Chef Coy died). It's not cheap, but it also isn't super expensive.
King Diamond should be a great costume. I went over to Spirit on Tuesday looking for masks. I tried on about 15 before the Ebola lightbulb went off and since half my office and the city is sniffling. So I decided I would dose on airborne. So far so good. Looking like some low budget face painted skull or whatever for me on Friday. Cool masks were available, but they are mostly drinking proof, and that's not gonna work. Outside chance I might go purchase a white sheet and be Charlie Brown/I got a rock.
I'll be at March Fourth. I'm probably just gonna catch the beginng of Red Baraat and see some of MakJ. Y'all got conflicts for Soul Rebels Friday at 3:30? I don't have anything vs that, and it's probably one of the few NOLA shows I get to see.

Now that 3 people have died and that very public rape case happened, the country club is no longer "clothing optional". I live almost right across the street from it and our whole neighborhood HATES it. They over serve and the crowd is almost exclusively young tourists at night who end up getting into fights and puking on our sidewalks.

Damn. That sucks. I only was ever there for my brothers wedding outside of several lunches over the years which were all very good. When I lived back in the bywater for a year back in 11-12, JJ's and BJ's and Baccanal were more my speed as far as night places to go out. Bourbon Street creep?
Yea Soul Rebels sounds good . Longinus and I are gonna stick out pretty well so be on the lookout. We generally are on the right side of the crowd towards the front.
I'd like to see Bonerama again but I doubt we'll be inside that early, but ya never know.

Does the same Bonnaroo/Remember The Titans rule of "left side, strong side" not apply at voodoo? I feel the same way about Bonerama. My boss has given me the ok to leave work early on Friday but I'm still not sure I'll make it. Soul Rebels sounds good to me too

People party harder at Panic shows on the right, in the shockwave of the bass player so I just apply that to most shows I go to. I'm not opposed to the left side or anything.
At small stages at Voodoo there are usually less people on the right.
Also a couple of new shows I hadn't seen - Rev Horton Heat at Howlin Wolf on Halloween, Revivalists and Naughty Professor at Tips on Saturday, and London Souls & Joe Krown on Sunday at Maple Leaf
Edit/PS: I was at the 86 show :covri:
Here's an article from Houston Press blog which is sure to get anyone in the mood for tomorrow.

Nah its kind of more Voodoo/Friday Night Lights rule of "Clear eyes full hearts can't lose". Hope this helps.
Milller Light is at Markey's right now doing a promotion. Free drinks! The best tasting Miller Light I've ever had!
Are they mad that you're using a proper spelling of "Lite"?
Ps: I was invited to sample poison at a poison control center-sponsored Learning Annex life-saving course. I tried the poison and some 23 year-old pimple-faced kid then saved my life after I went into convulsions. When asked how I felt after all that, I'm told that I responded that it was "all still better than having to drink a Miller Lite for any reason."
I went with I got a rock/it's the greaT pumpkin Charlie Brown. Low budget but hopefully someone gets it and appreciates the comedy. I heard Moon Taxi kicked fucking ass last night which is great. They are getting pretty close to subheadliner status IMHO. I know they are more of a word of mouth band and don't get the airplay or publicity that many of their counterpart bands do. I find them to be underrated.
