Today, FFF is excited to announce the details for the 9th annual Fun Fun Fun Fest. Due to the renovation of Auditorium Shores in Austin, there were many questions in the press about a possible change of venue or dates. After much discussion, and after a carefully worded email from our great Mayor, it was decided that Fun was too important to the people and must remain at its home for all to enjoy. So today, FFF is proud to reveal the following:
DATE: November 7, 8, 9 2014 LOCATION: Auditorium Shores LAYOUT: FFF will 2014 will have an expansive layout, offering new an improved sound and sightlines, amenities, and options
LINEUP & MORE: As always FFF will be releasing bands, comedians, and athletes in their own special way through the spring, summer, and fall. Stay tuned on the FFF social outlets to be the first to know.
As a gift to your special friend or gentleman lover, FFF is proud to announce this years round of early bird ticket program. In the spirit of St. Valentine, and consistent with courtly love in the high middle ages, we felt it was right to bring people together through their mutual love of fun.
EARLY BIRD TICKETS: Very limited release, available on Feb 12th (2 days before Valentines Day), at 9AM CST. This, as always is the biggest discount of the year and these will sell out quickly. We wish good luck and much love to everyone fighting for tickets in the name of love.

Honestly, I don't think VIP is worth it for this festival. All we had were raised platforms at the back of every stage. That and bathroom trailers at 2/3 stages with a separate bar at Orange Stage that did not cost any less.

Yeah that's definitely not worth it. In 2012 you got a free chrome fanny pack, 2 free meals a day, and 10 free beers a day on top of that. In 2011, it was unlimited free beer, 2 meals a day, and an awesome chrome backpack. It was obviously worth it those 2 years.
Every place I've looked into jumps in price for that weekend. How's parking in Austin? Could I rent a car and park near one of the Nite shows and just drive back to the hotel after, you think?
When I went, I had the luxury of having a friend that lived there and his gf just dropped us all off before the fest, we walked to the nite shows, and she picked us up when we were ready to leave. At least on fri and sat. On sunday I just parked in a garage and we left Austin after the fest. What I noticed is that there's plenty of paid parking lots/garages close to the action, but not so much free parking. You're only shot at that would be finding it early before going into the fest, but I didn't bother trying that sunday because we were running late and I wanted to park as close to the fest as I could (which is probably even more difficult to do, so you settle for a paid lot/garage). It's not that far of a walk from the fest to the nite venues though. 10-15 min walk.

Depending on where your hotel is you should be able to walk to most places or utilize the transit system. They have started having shows east of i35 and you wouldn't want to walk that far. There will be plenty of cabs when you exit the fest. Hotels south of downtown on I35 are usually cheaper but some have shuttles. It's hard to get a reservation but Austin Motel is a nice place close to the fest to stay for around $80 a night.
Been to 4 FFFFests over the years, always a good time. Didn't make it last year, but would love to this year. Excited to see who they'll bring to town this year.
yeah, no direct flight. And it's like $200 cheaper to fly out of nola than mobile so I'd end up with 4 hours of driving to save that, but that's a hell of a lot better than 23 hours of it. Now way I'm driving there again.

Haha. A co-worker asked why I just didn't drive it from Knoxville. No thanks. 15 hours of driving each way is bullshit.

You mean like driving to Manchester from San Antonio? Ugh, the drive to Bonnaroo really sucks, but it's always worth it in the end. The drive from Houston to Rothbury, MI was my personal longest. Did that drive with my brother, but I did probably 75% of the driving.
I've considered flying to Bonnaroo before, but I just can't imagine camping with such limited gear. A fest like FFF certainly lends itself to flying more since it's a city fest.
The key to long distance driving is sunflower seeds. Seriously. Get some unshelled sunflower seeds and eat them as you drive. For whatever reason, the simple act of cracking the seeds keeps my mind active enough for driving. I drive long distances for work, and always keep a bag of sunflower seeds in my door pocket. I know I've mentioned it once before on here, but it's worth repeating. They're my trucker speed. It only works as long as you keep eating them, and the salt will make your lips and mouth dry as hell. But if you want to keep pushing for a few more hours, they're one of the best *legal* ways I know.
Back on topic, excited to see the lineup whenever it's announced.

Part of mine is that I am probably not going to have the vacation time needed to take that extra day on either side to account for the drive. Also, I haven't been on a plane since I was an infant, so I kind of want to do it just to break that streak.

That's exactly what I used to think of the Roo, but then I experienced it and realized that a 17 1/2 hr drive is well worth it!!
Fun Fun Fun Fest is a great "little" festival, and if you can get here...do it!! Austin is a great city...kind of reminded of me Asheville (minus all the Mexicans, not to sound all racist...only Mexicans I came across at MOEMS (for the most part) were the workers). The music is always amazing, plus for a city fest, it really does have a different vibe going for it (compared to ACL). All the late nites are within walking distance of the park...even those on the other side of I-35, but I guess it just depends on if walking is a bother for you. I missed last year, due to MOEMS, but intend on returning this year, considering the circumstances with MOEMS!
Also, a panda meet up at this fest would be AMAZE BALLS!!! (seriously jealous of those of you in the TN area that can always meet up for all the smaller fest/get togethers)
