Bought my ticket and booked a place to stay today. Being from Florida I'll never see most of these acts unless I leave the state anyhow, might as well knock a bunch out at once.
I came close to booking flight, hotel, and putting a ticket on payment plan today but I am going to have to wait on Voodoo lineup and confirmation that my buddy is gonna come with because I cannot afford to do this alone. It's going to be rough doing Voodoo/FFF/BearCreek back2back2back weekends, but I managed to do it in 2012 so as long as I don't do any other fests from now until then I can probably pull it off.

Just an FYI, you probably wont be able to find a cheap hotel downtown within walking distance to the fest. Even on Booking.com. Expect to pay $200/night if you do.
There are some hotels around $100/night within a short cab ride, just south of the festival grounds on the interstate.

Or you can try AirBNB
Yeah, I researched that today. Booking flight and hotel at same time through expedia/hotwire/etc would save some money. I was debating either doing that cheap Days Inn a couple miles north or the Rodeway Inn. Those came out to be around $600-650 each for round trip flight and 4 nights at hotel...half as much as most of the other hotels downtown. If Voodoo completely blows it and we back out of that and sell our VIP passes, we'll get a nice hotel within close walking distance to venues/fest.
how fast do you guys think this will sell out and what is capacity allowed?
I don't think it sold out until September or October last year, when the lineup was released in July. You should have plenty of time. Capacity at Auditorium Shores is 30,000.
thanks and thats all great news. i just got back from hangout fest and have made in america at the end of august so the later the better. love the smaller size fests they are way more fun to be apart of.

Wow, didn't realize they actually sold out last year. They must have grown quite a bit these past two years then.
Thought I read that attendance for 2012 was around the 15-20k mark. Glad they're getting some well deserved success.

I actually couldn't find anything mentioning a sell out last year, I was probably wrong about that. I had heard capacity was 20,000, but this article lists total capacity at Auditorium Shores as 30,000:
It does say they intend to use "most" of that capacity, so they might cap ticket sales at a lower number. Either way, this lineup isn't going to sell 20,000+ tickets very quickly (if at all), so there's no rush on getting passes.
I'm trying to make this work. I had ruled FFF out because of a fall wedding, but I can probably swing it if I give up on Southwest Terror Fest, which seems like a no brainier at this point. The FFF lineup is too good.

Death From Above 1979 > Judas Priest ~ closing black vs Dinosaur Jr. > Alt-J ~ closing orange
das bruutal
Judas Priest is billed #1 overall, though. Highly billed acts tend to jump stages; Slayer and Snoop were listed as Black and Blue last year, but both ended up closing the main stage. I bet Priest closes Orange against DFA1979 on Black.
Yeah, you right. They didn't do that in 2012, but I can see that being an issue when the highest billed act is not on the orange stage. Priest vs DFA1979 is even worse though.

Yeah, that's rough.
You definitely going to this? Want to heckle Foxygen?
When the Voodoo fest lineup drops thursday, I can begin contemplating. But I'm really waiting on King Diamond tour dates to drop. He's the number one draw for me at FFF. If he's not playing nola, ATL, or Voodoo...I'll see you in Austin.
If I do go, I'm down for heckling Foxygen and the singer for Deafheaven.
Dude, the air sex championships last year were hilarious. It was even funnier watching people get up there and absolutely bomb, so awkward. They take that shit very serious.

Just found out my local venue is doing one. Totally signing up for this.
