Just remember folks as we move into the final episode, the Yellow King is like the briefcase in Pulp Fiction or the statue in the Maltese Falcon - it's just the stuff that dreams are made of. The journey is more important than the destination for this show.

I'm only 3 episodes in (just started today) so I'm not going past page 1 in case of spoilers, but HOLY SHIT GUYS. THIS SHOW IS SCARY. do not watch before bed. I'm listening to my bob dylan pandora station to try and calm me down before the nightmares kick in

All I am going to say is, if this season ends with some BS happy ending like Marty and Rust sitting on a porch drinking beer in the future watching Marty's grandkids play in the yard, I am going to be fucking furious.

I really do not get the feeling that will happen.
Also watching the ending of episode 4 again right now and it's so amazing. I wonder how many takes they had to do.

I don't get the feeling that it will happen either, but I just needed to put it out there.
1.) The dark ending. Rust and Marty fail. They reach wherever it is they are supposed to go to stop things and they find it goes deeper than they ever expected and they end up being killed probably with a betrayal thrown in there (i.e. Marty's father-in-law) for fun. 2.) The other idea is that they follow the trail to wherever it is that they are supposed to go, and they find everything is gone either by the people moving on or having died. Sure, the lawnmower guy (Errol?) is still active but he's just a creepy pedo rather than being involved in some high level ritual sacrifice kind of stuff.
That theory I read on Deadspin about Rust staging Dora Lange's body out in order to start the investigation as a way to assign some greater meaning to his daughter's death is messing with me right now though. It resonates with me for some reason.

I can see prediction no. 1. As was stated a long time ago by someone here, we know these "heroes" aren't being brought back for season 2, congruently, no reason for them to hang around. Marty was definitely saying his goodbyes last episode. I'm not sure what is going to come for Rust. I am still liking the odds on the FIL, as well.
No. 2, I'm skeptical because if we are going by the suspected number of men involved (unless I have missed something, which is definitely possible), we still have one unaccounted for. Three are dead, we know Errol now, who is the fifth guy? There are plenty more involved than just five, I would imagine as well.

I am not at all confident in either prediction which is something I am quite pleased with. So many shows go into season finales with so many restrictions on what has to happen that it feels like you have already watched it before it even airs.

For tomorrow or now as a distraction from the slow ticking clock, start thinking about who would be your fantasy picks for the leads in season 2. Since the setting of Louisiana has been so important this season, you might want to think of an ideal setting as well.
