Kind of off topic, but for fans of True Detective, anyone watched Rectify?
Wife and I watched the first two episodes last night. Only similar to True Detective in that the lead character is prone to beautiful monologues regarding the nature of space time and our place in it. Well acted, especially the lead who is outstanding, and well written (so far).
I can see how fans of True Detective would also love Rectify.
I've read great things and it's on my long list of shows to watch. I never can watch anything on time anymore lol.
Nic Pizzolatto: Okay. This is really early, but I'll tell you (it's about) hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system
Sounds like it could be about sex trafficking. Not sure what the "transportation system" thing would be about. "Hard women" could be the detective(s) and/or some prostitutes, "bad men" could be the people in charge of a sex trafficking ring. Though I'm not sure about the secret occult history part.

The good news is its on Netflix. Only six episodes, season 2 premieres this summer.
Ok, so I FINALLY finished! That last episode had me on edge. I actually jumped and yelled "OH SHIT!"... my dog looked at me like I was a crazy person. Very good episode, and season. I'm very interested to see where the next season goes, and I will be actually watching it as it airs this time. Hopefully anyways, I don't have HBO so I watch it on MovieBox on my iPad. I really liked the creepy factor to the plot line. Wonder if they'll pick something that is just as creepy for next season.
Still unsure how I feel about Brad Pitt as a possible follow up. I don't dislike him, per se, but he's not on my list of favorites either. I really love Woody Harrelson, he's actually what peaked my interest in this show in the first place. So whoever replaces them has a lot to live up to. Both performance wise, and on a purely personal preference. For shits and giggles, who do you think would be a good counter for Pitt? I mostly can't tell if I see Pitt as the "good cop" or "bad cop," which is why I think I'm so thrown off. I just don't know.

Pizzolatto revealed that in the new season’s current form, “we’re working with three leads. It takes place in California — not Los Angeles, but some of the much lesser known venues of California — and we’re going to try to capture a certain psychosphere ambiance of the place, much like we did in season one.”
He added, “The characters are all new, but I’m deeply in love with each of them. We’ve got the entire series broken out with a couple of scripts, and we’ll probably start casting in earnest in the coming months.”

Pizzolatto previously told HitFix that “True Detective” season two would be about “hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system.”

If there's three leads I'm theorizing that the killer is one of them. Think of what Pizzolatto could do with that angle. Guy is the best mind in TV right now bar none.
