I couldn't decide between Woody and Matt for the Emmy. They both were excellent. And, they both needed each other in the series to work. In my mind, they both need to win. Woody's performance, especially the last two episodes, was so nuanced and strong. The scene with his ex-wife, talking in her house, comes to mind and of course, the hospital in the end, when his family is in the hospital room and when he visits Rust and flips him off while backpedaling out the door in his wheelchair. One simple gesture conveyed so much right there.
I also high-fived my Mom yesterday when she showed me she had bought True Detective on DVD and had started watching it. I'm an idiot.
Fuck the haters, Vince Vaughn is going to kill this role!
I hate to agree with this mouth breather, but I do on this. He could be terrible, but I think he has potential to be really great as well.
I prefer to say this mouth breather agrees with me. That way it just looks like he's copying the cool kids. (cue someone pointing out that "kids" and I haven't gone together since the last time I served food at the Sunrise Assisted Living Center)

I'm less concerned about the casting (ever since Ledger as Joker I've been very open to casting choices until I actually see the finished product) and more concerned with the fact that they are using different directors this time around. I hope it still feels as cohesive and connected as the first one which only had one director throughout.
To me, shows tend to falter a bit when they start to change showrunners or staff members. I know Walking Dead, Dexter, and True Blood had to deal with multiple showrunners over the years and there was one recent season of Always Sunny that didn't seem as great (which I attributed to the main 3 guys hiring others and not writing it themselves as much) so I am hoping the different directors doesn't lead to a decrease in quality.
Call me crazy, but I'm willing to bet that they had some auditions with these cats, and that they liked what they saw, so they offered them the roles. The writing is so good and nearly everyone in Hollywood was after these parts. I bet Vince Vaughn and everyone else will be great. I think my third favorite character from season one was Charlie Lange (the guy below), but when I look back, there wasn't a bad performance from anyone who had a single line.
I will watch in my car before I pull out of work parking lot.
No dialogue. Just a feeling of the tone. Still dark and gritty. I think Farrell looks pretty good though I've already seen a bunch of comments about his mustache. It'll be interesting to see if it can live up to season 1.
after watching the preview again it makes me feel like the show will be good, but very different from the first season. i think i will really miss the "supernatural" aspect that drew me to it in the first place.

I watch the remake of Total Recall this weekend because I was being lazy, and it was on. I feel better about the Colin Farrell choice. I think he's one of those actors that has more than an average amount of movies in his filmography that have shitty scripts which could be more to blame for negative thoughts about him than his acting does.

I'm not as scared about the acting as the majority is. If the script is at a similar level compared to last year than I suspect the show to have another great season.

Colin Ferrel reminds me of Russel Crowe. A good actor that can't help but make an ass of himself in public. As Dave said, he chooses some pretty crap scripts to work on too. I'm sure he'll do fine with good material.
PSA: I've seen the first 3 episodes. Please lower your expectations. The overdone masculinity in this show is obnoxious. I liked the performances of 3 of the 4 leads but Vaughn was awful. I outright laughed at some of the stuff that happened in the episodes. I wouldn't say it was bad, but much closer to meh than good.
Dang! Chill out with the future talk, i know its not a spoiler but I don't read reviews until after the show. Give me a chance, here.
And yes, festival bowel, that's the best line in either season already.
