Maybe in fantasy land. I'd bet Kanye would even laugh at that.
Kanye is bigger than Elton is right now. Better at making music too
I'll agree that Kanye is bigger now, but overall, no way. Elton is a musical icon, Kanye is not. He might be some day, but not yet. I think Kanye has a ton of upside and has the opportunity to be up there with the big boys but it's a little too soon. I mean, Kanye is huge right now, doesn't mean he'll make as much money as Elton would at Roo. Elton doesn't do a normal concert for less than a million, what will it cost Roo?
Not even a single second, I have zero interest in seeing kanye. I'm already making plans on how to modify any shirts I would buy to eliminate his name from it, I refuse to wear his name.
That's a little extreme don't ya think
It may sound it, but I don't like the guy, I won't advertise him on my clothing. For the official shirts with the raised print, I'm thinking about using some fine sandpaper to scrap off the name. For the unofficial shirts without the names being raised, I'm thinking about just soaking the name with a dark ink.

I'd guess that at least half of the currently 41 people that voted no or worse will still check out some of his set. The just refuse to admit it to themselves this early in the game.

Well then with that conviction, you are in the other half. The shirt thing is over the top though. You realize no matter how you modify it later, you still will be buying a shirt that has his name on it.

Serious question, why do you hate him so much?
He murdered Phil Lesh on stage with a machine gun in 08, don't you know anything?

I honestly have no clue how the pricing/booking of artists at festivals work. I'd assume they get more than they normally charge for headliners, opposite for undercard

I guarantee it did not cost Johnson City, TN a million to book him.

Egotistical and overrated is the short answer, i'd do the same thing to a festival shirt if Morrissey was on it.
His ego huge, as we all know. So why would he even be booked for Roo? So many annual Rooers are very against it, FTR not me, so why? Bonnaroo would do just fine without him. If he's there, great, but I don't think he's in any position to demand anything at this point.
But on the contrary, there's going to be so much hype about his return, good and bad. And you know what they say, there's no such thing as bad publicity. Kanye is all over the news and shit. Who was the last Roo headliner that was this visible in the media.
I think Boner hits the nail on the head right there. Kanye has already been announced as headlining a festival the weekend before Roo, but nobody cares because it's just another Kanye show. For the majority of people outside of Roo, it doesn't really matter who the headliners are on a year to year basis. Kanye at Roo though will get people talking because it is such a well-known event even outside of those that go to Bonnaroo. It's a whole is greater than the sum of the parts thing. For the opposite, you have Outkast. When they first got announced for Coachella, people were excited and you just watch that plummet with each successive festival that announces them.

I'm not trying to answer for him, I'm sure he has his own reasons. IMO, and a lot of others, he comes off as very immature and angry. He seems on edge. Also, he's not the most humble person in the world which to most is a huge turn off. Some like it, just like some like Floyd Mayweather. Maybe he does it all for publicity, who knows. He claims he doesn't, so that leads me to believe angry and immature. Maybe Yoga or meditation would help, who knows. He's definitely a polarizing figure, thats for sure.

I know, but I like to pick up a roo shirt or two, they look cool and are a nice reminder of the fest (my favorite one is an unofficial one i got 12 that's a parody of the Budweiser logo). But I don't want to walk around with his name on my shirt. So barring having a custom one made, I'm basically out of options.

That reminds me of another point to go along with what I just posted to beav. The Kanye-Roo combination is such a buzzworthy event that they probably feel it is worth the potential for issue just because of how much it will get people talking. Much the same, Morrissey seems to cancel more shows than he plays these days, but you better believe that any festival in the US would book a Smiths reunion show without hesitation just because of how big of a deal it would be.

I'm sure it's possible, I just remember reading somewhere that Elton gets a minimum of a million per show, I didn't really fact check the article.

beavdog151 you summed up my feelings pretty perfectly. If kanye acted like a sane/rational person, I just wouldn't care. But the way he acts makes me loathe everything about him, including the idea of giving him free advertising.

Maybe add Fuck infront off his name, should be plenty of room

I bet the people that don't like Kanye for being angry also don't like Richard Sherman

Had to look that one up, apparently a football player who made an angry rant? I don't really understand all that stuff about him, I don't follow the NFL. What's the situation with him?

You could buy a regular Bonnaroo shirt and on the back write the name of every other act except his.

Haha, for me team sports is a different animal. If I was going to compare him to a football player, I'd say Steve Smith. They both seem so angry, and for what? Immaturity. Time to grow up guys. I don't hate Kanye, he's not the devil or something. I mean I love the Beatles, but John Lennon was an enormous prick. I'll still listen to his music, but I wouldn't be very excited to see Lennon, not like Macca or Harrison. That's for sure.
Ironically, I'm listening to Kanye on shuffle right now, only College Dropout, Yeezus, and 808's. I have the rest on CD.

Great videos/songs:
Oh man....this one takes me back to college:
I had so many Kanye mixtapes in college. Time to go looking them up again. Remixes and original songs that weren't on the albums always had a few real winners.
I bet the people that don't like Kanye for being angry also don't like Richard Sherman

It's hard to explain unless you've seen the rant. Basically he's an NFL conorback that is being criticized for calling his opponent a mediocre reciever, calling him a thug, the n-word, etc. When in reality he's a Stanford graduate that was the saludictodian of his high school

I forgot about those shirts without the lineup on them, honestly I'd probably just get one of those, thanks for the reminder, saved me a bit of work.
