This. If Elton and Kanye are two of the headliners, that's 2/3 of the headliners already that I don't really care about seeing, but I am not gonna bum rush every thread about Elton complaining about it.
That's just because Elton John fans would throw glitter in your face and that shit is a pain to get off.
I would have totally guessed that you would be an expert on glitter.
I don't think people are at all offended that people are skipping his show. Why would we care? I even said I skip a headliner or two every year.
I do get bristly when people insult his fans (aka "how can any music fan listen to that shiz") or when people imply that they're going to expend energy making his performance un-enjoyable for people that do want to see it, or at least hope it is ruined in some way.
That's just being bitter.
I agree cks. I never said any of that and still was met with an argumentative tone and that it was ridiculous that I simply do not like his music. The scenarios you list are not cool. Nor is the other extreme.
Jove, if you want to see Kanye then you are super cool. Because you have risen above the rest of the cretins, mouth breathers and "ridiculous" people that are unwilling or to stupid to recognize just how good Kanye West is.
If you do not want to see him...you are, most likely, a mouth breathing cretin that has a music sensibility so underdeveloped you cannot realize how good Kanye West is. And it is ridiculous that you do not like his music.
At least that was what I picked up when I posted in this thread. And I didn't trash the music at all. I just said I didn't like it. I even was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt on his personality. But that was not good enough either.
Good luck.
Mod of the Year.
I'm humbled and gracious at your nomination. But I have to decline. I have never and still am not interested in any accolades. Criticism is ok too. I know who my friends are and they know who I am and what I do for this place and the people here, whether I know them well or not.

[quote author="Dave Maynar" source="/post/1432307/thread" timestamp="1390787719 I just don't see what it is about him that makes it necessary to argue back and forth for what seems like years over him. [/quote]
Years and years and years. Ugh. I'm so friggin tired hearing that "oh my god, this is what Kanye did in '08 Bonnaroo. He was late!" If one more person comes here and brings that up again, I may just go postal. Like for cereal. It is beyond insane at this point. I can't hardly remember a goddamn thing from '08.I wasn't at Bonnaroo, I know that. But I feel like I've had to relive this whole ridiculously over-exaggerated, sensationalized story for two years now on inforoo- I may as well have been there! Why these people are so obsessed with 6 years ago is beyond me. The beyond department. Insane.
And, I'm not a big Kanye fan. I'm neutral. I like a lot of his stuff. I would like to see him, no doubt. I would definitely check it out if we end up at Roo this year. He's just not at the top of my list.
But, "Shut up about '08!" Just needed to get this off my chest.

I heart you too, Dave! I'm slightly drunk posting (a first for me) tonight. Ozzy just spoke the way I feel on the Grammy's right now- all gibbery gook.

I remember someone talking about getting into the pit with an air horn, but I think they were just joking? I mean the amount of energy and time it would take to piss off other people seems a bit nonsensical. Plus they would actually have to be at the show in the first place, which is also nonsensical to someone who isn't a fan.
An unrelated point i need to make about this survey is about why are there two "no" options? They should be combined.

See: follow select members around, negate their posts with the relentlessness of Napoleon Bonaparte, act passive aggressively to draw said members into petty bickering, then try playing the moral high card by backing out just as things start to kick off.
Yes, we know what you do for this place, too, Gibran.

:-) ok <--- To the first sentence. That simply did not happen, here. I posted a respectful opinion complete with giving reasonable doubt to Kanye and it was met with obvious baiting. I never start or "draw" anyone into anything as I hardly post. I do however jump in when people are being out of line. As that is in my job description. As opposed to letting members exact mob justice.
I am capable of having a normal discussion in one thread with somebody, and calling them out in another. As we see in this case (this thread and my posts) some are not. My original post was not baiting nor directed at anybody specifically, but it seemed to anger the usual suspects. Anyway, if you would like to discuss further, I am sure we can find a better forum or format to do so. ;-)
I may or may not check out a few songs of Kanye, but most likely if there is a latenight that night that interest me at all I will be chilling out there getting a little rest and relaxation and a good spot. Maybe with an Amish doughnut or some BBQ.

I'll be there out of morbid curiosity to see how the crowd will treat Kanye.
The overwhelming majority will be treating him like any other headliner. A vast minority will be childish, scummy little shit-weasels that boo him and try to start something and I hope those people fall down a well.

The vision in my head of a few hundred people not looking where they are going and falling down multiple wells made me snort laugh.
We're going to need more than a few ham sandwiches up in here
I'll bring some chips. Inforoo 2014: away from kanye mini brunch.
In the spirit of love and goodwill, we will even welcome with open arms any Kanye-ites that decide to leave mid-set and join us, because we are just that awesome You'll be entertained. I can't sing but I can dance. I give great hugs. And I can make one hell of a ham sandwich.
